GGuest UserThe service was excellent, and the breakfast spread was impressive, featuring a lot of branded ingredients. Downstairs, there's a fantastic Dai-style BBQ and a delicious mushroom hotpot. They also offer dedicated pick-up and drop-off services to Kunming Changshui Airport, available both morning and evening. Despite being close to the airport, the environment was quiet, and they even mailed back an item I left behind!

GGuest UserExtremely satisfied, I felt compelled to write a positive review. First off, the location is right in the city center, making it incredibly convenient for dining and shopping. There's even a popular网红 (internet-famous) spot downstairs with a long queue.
The service was also excellent. Even during the busy Chinese New Year period with many guests, everything ran smoothly and in an orderly fashion. The breakfast, in particular, deserves a special mention; it offered a wide variety of options, including Xidoufen (a local rice jelly soup), Ersi (rice noodles), and various noodle dishes.
Choosing this hotel over other older five-star establishments and chain hotels was definitely a great decision.

ZZYH0926I spent a few days touring Kunming and chose this hotel for my last night, and I was quite satisfied with the experience. It's right next to a subway station, which was convenient for my trip to Dounan Flower Market. The IELTS Restaurant on the 4th floor is very stylish, and the breakfast buffet was delicious. There's also a laundry room on the 11th floor. I'll definitely stay here again on my next visit to Kunming.

GGuest UserThis hotel is right in the city center, making it super convenient for getting around and finding good food. The moment you walk in, you're greeted by an elegant fragrance. The decor has a classic feel, perhaps from 20 or 30 years ago, but it's incredibly well-maintained and refined. The front desk staff were also very welcoming and upgraded me to a suite. They even noticed I was holding a takeout bag and, without me saying a word, knew I wanted to throw it away – that was really thoughtful! I'll definitely consider staying here again next time I'm in Kunming.

GGuest UserA very warm treasure hotel. Our family received souvenirs and welcome tea as soon as we arrived at the hotel, which was very ceremonial. Because there were not many tourists, the hotel seemed particularly secluded. Whether it was the private soup in the courtyard or the Pu'er tea, they were all of very high quality. The children enjoyed feeding the seagulls every day. The food was a little simple during the Spring Festival. A male waiter in the restaurant (forgot his name) was very enthusiastic. The green vegetables were all from the hotel's own vegetable garden, which was very natural. The back door of the hotel leads directly to Yangzonghai Shijiazui Park, and the scenery is invincible. In short, I was very satisfied. Thanks to the housekeeper for his meticulous service. Five-star praise. Recommended to travelers who like to relax and get close to nature.

The shuttle service to/from the South High-Speed Rail Station was excellent. Overall, the service was truly impeccable, and there are plenty of great dining options nearby. I'll definitely choose this hotel again for my next trip.

GGuest UserWe chose this hotel for its convenient location when traveling with our child. When we first arrived, it felt like a hidden gem, tucked away in Jingxing Flower Street. You can find plenty of food and drinks right downstairs – all sorts of rice noodles, flower cakes... everything you could want! Plus, it's next to a large shopping complex and right by Wuyi Road Metro Station, exit B or C, which is close and has an elevator. Despite being in a lively area, it's surprisingly quiet! The room was quite new, a bit small, but perfectly fine for my child and me. The price was great too! It's an excellent choice for budget-conscious travelers.

PpureevianFacilities: This is a five-star hotel, and while it's part of Shangri-La's younger JEN brand, the design isn't overtly luxurious but feels fresh and elegant. The overall environment is very comfortable.
Service: Gentle, polite, and very attentive.
Environment: The room felt a bit stuffy, perhaps because the city itself is very dry. It would be great if there were some humidifiers, as the room was too dry.
PS: During the Chinese New Year period, breakfast was served in a conference/banquet hall, which was a very unpleasant dining experience. Waking up early to that buzzing atmosphere felt like being on a tour group staying at some town guesthouse. I hope they don't have such strange arrangements during normal times. 🤔 When staying at a Shangri-La property, guests expect a certain standard for breakfast. The front desk really should have informed us about this arrangement during check-in, allowing guests the option to cancel breakfast.

PPsymondDespite the convenient location, comfortable beds, and all-important quiet sleep we managed to get, the hotel's communication to arrange our pick up from the train station at night and what turned out to be a self-check-in was just dismal, clearly needing more training to ensure better organisation for future guests. The following constructive advice is to help the hotel improve and for (particularly foreign) guests to note:
1. Ask for guests' phone number and inform the driver well in advance of our arrival, instead of waiting till the very last minute to do so. We reached out to the hotel via WeChat the day before and rightfully received detailed instructions (in Chinese) to find the driver (the pick up service is actually outsourced to a separate company using 3 different vans), but once we found the van, the driver angrily insisted we call the hotel to identify us by confirming our phone number - we were not allowed to board without the hotel's confirmation, which should have been done directly with the driver well in advance of our arrival.
2. This hotel is not manned after hours, let alone 24 hours, so please make it known well beforehand that we will have to check in ourselves if arriving after hours, and provide clear instructions on how to do so instead of communicating them through the phone while guiding us using the security cameras. It is not the guests' responsibility to do your administrative work (to report ourselves to the authorities by scanning the police QR code and filling out our details) at 11 o'clock at night when we have an early morning train to catch the following day. The hotel should allow guests to enter the room as soon as possible upon arrival, not have us wait half an hour while they struggle with what was clearly their first time checking in foreign guests - worse still over the phone - insisting that this be done before we could enter our room.
3. If the hotel truly wants the patronage of foreign guests, they will have to prioritise our convenience and comfort over theirs by actually having someone check us in in-person. Remotely doing so to save costs is as absurd as expecting foreign guests to communicate our details over the phone, sending photos of ourselves, our passport details etc. via WeChat, and then finding our room card and the room by talking to someone over the phone in Chinese. At the very least, these requirements and instructions should be clearly produced and communicated beforehand so that nothing is improvised.
We hope the above experience helps improve what is a decent hotel providing good value for money.
