5-Star Hotels in Kunming

The environment is beautiful, and the hotel has a very stylish design with a private garden feel. The service was attentive and meticulous, and the breakfast was rich and delicious. It felt as warm as spring. Kunming is also known as the Spring City, and this trip was wonderfully warm, truly a home away from home.

Facilities: The hotel has everything one would expect. The underground parking is large and convenient, with DiDi fast chargers, and plenty of regular and charging spaces. Parking is free, but you need the front desk to process it when you leave. Besides a restaurant, the top floor also has a laundry room (washer + dryer), a gym, and a swimming pool. The pool looked pretty good; although there weren't many people, there was dedicated staff service. Cleanliness: The room was quite clean and new. Environment: There's a large shopping mall nearby, making it convenient for dining, shopping, and ordering takeout. It's also not far from the city center and Dianchi Lake. If you don't drive, taking a taxi is also easy. Our room was very quiet, not noisy, and there was no construction. Service: Staff member Mila provided thoughtful service, added us on WeChat to give us travel tips, prepared fruit for our room during a holiday, and gave us fresh flower cakes as a souvenir when we left. Downsides: The elevator doors close really fast, and the room size is average, but I guess that's typical for chain hotels.

The hotel's room service for supplies was incredibly efficient when called. The entire area boasts a well-developed commercial district, attractions, and transportation network. I had a fantastic time staying at this Hilton with my kids during the short holiday, enjoying ourselves for two days. Right outside the hotel, there's a snack street, and the hotel even has a children's play area, so both adults and kids can find something fun to do.

We were on a family trip and originally planned to stay at the Grand Hyatt Kunming, but we couldn't get a room because we hadn't booked in advance. So we ended up staying at this hotel instead, and the overall experience was comfortable and recommendable. Our room was on a higher floor with an expansive view, though there's still some development happening around the hotel. The room itself was small but clean, and the facilities were well-maintained. The shower had great water pressure, which was refreshing. The window allowed for good natural light, and it was quiet at night, so we slept soundly. Downstairs, there are many snack options, and Wanda Plaza is right next door, making it convenient for finding food. The hotel breakfast offered a rich selection. The hotel is about a 15-minute taxi ride from Kunming Station. The overall price was affordable, making it a good choice for family trips, business travel, and more. Yuma and Ray at the front desk were very enthusiastic and meticulous in their service, and other staff members were also friendly and greeted guests warmly, which was much appreciated.

I stayed at this hotel for 5 nights. I was quite hesitant before choosing it, especially after reading about the negative elevator incident, which made me really worry about safety. So, every time I took the elevator during my stay, I was on edge. The main reason I decided to stay was for the hot springs and swimming pool, as it's been raining a lot in Kunming recently, and I figured we'd just enjoy the hotel. Honestly, I wasn't particularly impressed with the service, and the facilities are quite old, very old. If it weren't for the constant rain and traveling with a child, I probably wouldn't have chosen this hotel. Especially after visiting Fuxian Lake, the comparison really highlighted its shortcomings.

Overall, the hotel was great – a true all-in-one spot for dining, entertainment, and relaxation. It’s perfect for spending a few days unwinding. The facilities like the pool and gym were excellent. Everything you need is right here! Plus, the three meals a day offered by the hotel were quite tasty. On a different note, I needed to arrange dinner for my family and called twice in advance to book a restaurant. The front desk said the F&B department would contact me, but they never did, even after I checked out… a bit frustrating. When I checked in, the front desk told me our standard room was on the first floor. I acknowledged it, and then they repeated it, “first floor, okay?” I didn't quite understand why they emphasized it twice. It wasn’t until I got to the room that I realized the cafe’s outdoor terrace offers a direct view into the room. (The front desk could have just said that directly instead of being so vague; how would I know, being a first-time guest?) Three areas for improvement: 1. The non-slip mat in the shower was very dirty. 2. The coordination among the F&B staff needs to be better. 3. The front desk should be more direct. Repeating that the standard room was on the first floor in such a roundabout way completely confused me as a first-time visitor about what they were trying to convey!

The hotel facilities are a bit old, but well-maintained. The environment is elegant, quiet, and comfortable, and the staff are quite enthusiastic. Overall, the experience was decent. However, perhaps because it was raining, the cushions in the courtyard were all put away and not replaced before guests checked in. The water features in the courtyard villa were turned off, and there were dead leaves inside, making the whole courtyard look a bit desolate, which affected the stay. The price of over 3,000 yuan per night felt a bit overpriced. The garden hot spring was very comfortable and beautiful; I would come back just for that. As for the crossing-the-bridge noodles priced at over 200 yuan, I wouldn't recommend trying them if you're a local. 😅

This is a pretty good hotel. The breakfast is nice, and the service is excellent. The front desk even upgraded my room. It's right by Cuihu Lake, not far from other attractions, and the surrounding area is great for walking around and taking photos. **Facilities:** The room design is a bit old-fashioned, and the bathroom not having a separate wet and dry area isn't ideal. The internet also wasn't very good. Considering it's a 70-year-old hotel, the facilities are still acceptable. Overall, I highly recommend it.

The JEN Hotel by Shangri-La in Kunming boasts an excellent location, very close to Kunming Old Street, and super convenient for subway travel. The hotel's design is young and trendy, incorporating many local Yunnan elements, creating a great atmosphere. The rooms are clean and tidy, with comfortable bedding and thoughtful details like direct drinking water and wireless charging. Breakfast offers a rich variety, including authentic Yunnan rice noodles. Guests can also enjoy a large shared gym and a heated swimming pool. The front desk service is professional and polite, and check-in was efficient. For anyone visiting Kunming, staying here makes getting around hassle-free, with guaranteed quality. Highly recommended.

The hotel is conveniently located with easy access to all parts of the city, making it perfect for those traveling by car. Nearby shopping areas, attractions, and restaurants are all within walking distance, so there's no need to rush around.
