"The most iconic feature of the Riu Hotel is undoubtedly its 27th-floor 360° sunset view bar🌇. Hotel guests get complimentary access with their room key card, while non-guests need to purchase a ticket. It's 5 euros before 5 PM and 10 euros after 5 PM. You buy tickets at the back of the hotel; just walk around from the main entrance, take the elevator to the 26th floor, then walk up the stairs to the 27th floor, where you'll find the observation deck and bar. The hotel is massive with a large number of rooms, and there's a constant flow of people. To use the elevator, you have to swipe your room card and select your floor. The system automatically assigns an elevator, and you then find the corresponding cabin based on the letter displayed – it feels a bit like working in a large office building. During breakfast rush hour, the crowd is huge, and the dining atmosphere is more like a company cafeteria. Overall, the experience is just average."

"The industrial-style decor was as basic as it gets, which was fine since I only needed to sleep for five hours before catching my flight. There was no view from the window, it was completely blocked. It's a convenient ten-minute drive to the airport, and there's also a shuttle bus available."

"This hotel has a lot of character, though the winding hallways felt a bit like a maze. We also had to get our key cards reprogrammed three times at the front desk before both room keys worked. But aside from that, everything else was great! The hallways are clean and modern, and there are three elevators, so you don't have to navigate the 'maze' much (except for walking to the very end for breakfast). The location is excellent; it's just a few steps to Puerta del Sol, making it easy to reach any major attraction in the city center. There are also plenty of supermarkets and restaurants nearby. The staff were very enthusiastic and helpful, and they always greeted us warmly when we returned. The breakfast selection was incredibly diverse – one of the most extensive we've seen across the 7-8 countries we've visited. The buffet had rows and rows of food! Our room wasn't huge, but it was perfectly adequate, very tidy, and everything worked well. Overall, this was one of the most comfortable hotels we stayed at during our trip, apart from the initial hassle with the key cards on the first day. It would be even better if they could fix those faulty key cards!"

"Interesting hotel, but there were some surprises. The place looks rundown from the street, but inside it is in good condition. It must have the smallest elevator that I've ever seen, but it works! We were allocated room 105, above the entrance. It has interesting decor, but to be honest we would have preferred functionality over funky. The curtains wouldn't close completely, so there was a shaft of light in our eyes while trying to sleep, and there was a lot of street noise too. Getting allocated a room higher up and/or located on the back of the hotel would have been better."

"The bed was fine and the location was good, but I wouldn't stay more than one day! The shared bathroom floor was screaming for a renovation, and the common areas were just as bad. There was even a hole in the bathroom patched up with masking tape!!! Honestly, I think €15 is expensive for the condition of this hostel. The bed was clean, I'll give them that, but there's nothing else worth mentioning."

"The exterior looks pretty ordinary, but as soon as you step into the lobby, you're greeted by a grand, warm, and inviting atmosphere. The room itself is a mix-and-match style; it has an elegant purple main theme, but then the bathroom is beach-themed? And on the walls, there are Asian-style goldfish illustrations. Let's talk about breakfast – I absolutely loved it! There were all sorts of sausages and roasted vegetables. I'd eat until I was stuffed every day before heading out to explore. Oh, and before you leave, you can even buy some ham from the Dia supermarket next door to take back home! The location is fantastic, right next to the metro station and Gran Vía! This is super important for a shopaholic like me!"

"Located in a middle-class residential area, the surroundings are quite peaceful, yet the hotel boasts excellent transportation links. The subway is just a five-minute walk away, and there's a bus stop right outside the hotel. You can even walk to the palace or take a bus from the hotel entrance. There are several supermarkets conveniently located just a right turn from the hotel entrance. Every staff member at the hotel is incredibly warm and helpful. There was a previous review mentioning an elderly person in their seventies being asked to pay extra and then being kicked out; that's simply a Chinese elder trying to take advantage and then twisting the facts when it didn't work out. It's completely untrue and shouldn't be believed. It's truly irresponsible that Trip.com would publish such a review along with photos showing people's faces."

"Location: The hotel boasts an excellent, central location, right in the heart of the city. The metro is approximately 50 meters away, and a taxi ride from the airport takes about 30-40 minutes. There are plenty of restaurants and bars downstairs, and many attractions are within walking distance. Facilities: The hotel is quite new, and I didn't encounter any broken facilities during my stay. I really liked the decor, though the room size is quite small. I'd recommend booking a room with a terrace; I was lucky enough to get one with the largest terrace, and it was lovely to sit out there in the mornings and evenings. It would be perfect if the room came with a small kettle. Cleanliness: There were some minor stains on the bed sheets, but I didn't find any other cleanliness issues. Service: The front desk service was quite fast, but there wasn't really any 'service with a smile.' The female staff member who checked me in just took my passport, collected the deposit, and handed over the room card – that's it. The next day, I went down to the front desk with a small issue, and a male staff member (who seemed very professional and explained things clearly, perhaps a manager) helped me resolve it. Overall, if you're only in Madrid for a short trip of one or two nights and your budget is under 1000, I think this hotel is a good choice."

"The location is far from the city center but very close to the shopping street. The antique hotel is not big but the housekeeper can always be very welcoming. In Europe, there is usually no service, so this is rare. The disadvantage is that it is not soundproof and there is no swimming pool."
