2-Star Hotels in Dali City

This time I stayed at the June Inn in Dali, and I found the owners, a husband and wife, to be very warm and genuine. The owners are from Northeast China, so they're very straightforward and easy to talk to. They made us feel very comfortable, without that overly commercial or formal vibe. There was a small hiccup during check-in. The driver didn't drop us off at the agreed-upon location, and we had to walk for about 3 minutes to reach the inn. Since we had arranged to be dropped off at a specific spot, I personally wasn't too happy with that arrangement. Unexpectedly, when the owner found out, he immediately came out to Bo'ai Gate to wait for us and personally guided us to the inn. This gesture really impressed me ❤️ Later, chatting with the owners was also very pleasant. They both felt very authentic and enthusiastic, giving us the feeling of having made local friends in Dali. The inn's location is also great; it's very convenient to get to the South Gate area of Dali Old Town. Thank you to the owners for taking care of us these past few days! This trip to Dali left me with wonderful memories. I hope to have the chance to stay here again next time I visit Dali. 🌿❤️

On my way back, I returned to Yuezhu Yishan. It's close to the ancient city, which is convenient after a long day of sightseeing. The bedding was just right – not too soft, not too firm – ensuring a good night's sleep. Every corner was spotless, and all the necessities were provided. The concierge was as attentive and thoughtful as ever, helping with our luggage. It felt just like coming home. I'll definitely stay here again on my next visit.

The owner is really nice, patient and helpful. My Chinese isn’t really good but he was understanding. I wasn’t feeling well and he was very kind to check up on me with an oxygen canister. He will also bring you down to the bus stop. The place is really clean and had really nice views. It was really one of the best stays I had. Will highly recommend! The breakfast was really wholesome and hearty too. They also have really cute pets.Do ask him any questions you have regarding the routes around Dali or even to other cities!

We stayed for 4 days during the May Day holiday. It was great. The B&B is very new, with good facilities and a relatively quiet environment. The best thing is that it is close to Erhai Lake. It takes only 1 minute to get to the beach after leaving the B&B. You don't have to rush to watch the sunrise in the morning. The B&B owner was very considerate. When we arrived on the 1st, it was much later than expected. She was waiting for us and asked us if we had dinner. She sent us travel tips, introduced delicious shops around, and sent us a fruit plate. One day when it rained, she even lent us an umbrella. It was a very good stay experience. If I go to Dali again, I will consider staying again🧡ྀི💛ྀི❤️ྀི

The location is very strategic, it is near to the pick up location for didi, only a few minutes away from the hotel. The ladies are very generous and attentive, she attends all the questions very well and gives recommendations to the nearest attraction, transportation and also halal food. There is a lot of halal food nearby. The room is also amazing, they provided a heater mattress, and the laundry on the fourth floor for those who want to do laundry, you can hang up your clothes on the fourth floor or in front of your room. This is an amazing and great hotel price for us. I will be back to stay here again. The view outside is really great, you can see Canshang Mountain.

We really enjoyed our stay at Lily Pad Hostel and would happily return. It offers excellent value for money and is a great base for exploring Dali. The hostel is in a good location, just a little outside the main town. It’s an easy walk, although you do need to cross some busy roads, which could be a little challenging if you’re travelling with small children. The room was clean, and the bed sheets were spotless. We also had a lovely view from the landing. There were some friendly resident bunnies wandering around, and we enjoyed having a ping pong table to use during our stay. The only minor downside was that the shower temperature was a little inconsistent, switching between hot and cold. Aside from that, we were very comfortable and really enjoyed our stay. We would thoroughly recommend Lily Pad Hostel to anyone visiting Dali and would definitely stay here again.

A friend recommended this hostel, and it was easy to find with a great atmosphere. It's clean and hygienic! The owner also organizes a lot of activities, like communal meals, stream trekking, mushroom foraging, and watching the sunrise. They also recommend many delicious places to eat and fun things to do nearby – you won't be disappointed! It's fantastic! I'll definitely stay here again when I come to Dali! Superb! You can also play board games and karaoke!

It’s our first trip to Dali, and I’m so charmed by this city. As foreigners who don’t speak the local language, travelling around can be challenging. But we were lucky to have the most wonderful hosts at this hotel. They took such good care of us that I couldn’t help writing this review. The rooms are extremely clean and spacious. It’s nice and quiet, perfect for anyone who wants to stay away from noise. When we checked in, I asked if we could see a room. They immediately upgraded us to a much larger one. The room was incredibly spacious and lovely, with mountain views right from the window. They attended to even my smallest needs. The two ladies working here are incredibly kind. I felt right at home with them. They always greeted me with warm, beautiful smiles. I would absolutely recommend this hotel to everyone. My husband and I are really happy and satisfied with the service. Give it a stay!

We rented the Garden Deluxe Room, with a mountain view. We find the description and pictures were accurately advertised, and the service was impeccable. We were very pleased with our rental, as it was private, clean and orderly. The hotel is conveniently located within the Dali Ancient Town, close to Biai Road and Renmin Road intersection (see picture of map). The morning and night views from the terrace were stunning. The Dali Ancient Town is as lively as you would imagine, with tons of food and shopping options. Our experience in Dali was awesome, with it's majestic mountains, beautiful lake, vibrant towns and peaceful villages. However, the best part of this stay was our interactions with the hotel owners, who are a lovely couple. They are good people - very kind, helpful and approachable. Although we had to use an English to Mandarin translation app for most of our conversations, they were patient and made recommendations that we really enjoyed. They helped us book a tour of Erhai Lake and we had a wonderful time sightseeing with the bus tour company (highly recommended if you don't know where to start exploring). We also took their scooter bike to explore the Three Pagodas on our own and drove around the lake afterwards. Please consider renting their scooter bike, as it was super fun and the price is very affordable. As language is a barrier for us, they not only helped us book our ride to Lijiang, but they also gave us a hotel recommendation, which their son runs. To us, they are very trustworthy, so we're sure we will have another pleasant stay in Lijiang. After all, it's not how clean the hotel is, or how beautiful the surroundings are, it's the people we meet along the way that makes it a wonderul trip experience. If there is another hotel rating for overall hotel experience, it would be a 10/5 for us. The owners definitely made our short stay very comfortable and our adventures amazing - thank you so much! We would definitely come back to this hotel if we are in this area again!

The owner and staff were warm and easygoing, patiently recommending local routes and offering helpful tips to avoid tourist traps – very thoughtful. The facilities are comprehensive; the communal living room is great for relaxing, chatting, and even taking care of some personal tasks. Overall, it's quiet and not noisy, ensuring a good night's sleep, making it excellent value for money. It doesn't feel overly commercialized and has that authentic travel atmosphere. Whether you're on a short layover or a longer trip, this is a fantastic choice. I'll definitely prioritize staying here again next time. Highly recommended for backpackers!
