My family and I spent the weekend at this lovely hotel. The family room we had was great very clean and well presented. We spent Saturday night in the bar and it had a great atmosphere and the food was delicious. We also had this Sunday lunch which was absolutely stunning. All the staff were lovely and very helpful and friendly. We had a few drinks with the owners and they where lovely couple went out there way to make you feel welcome. Will definitely be back.

Stayed at the Ship Inn on Day 5 of my West to East walk along Hadrian's Wall, Was surprised to find that the pub and restaurant are both closed on Mondays and Tuesdays ( i was staying on a Monday night) , I was met and checked in by Michelle who was helpful and explained alternative venues for meals The rooms are clean, comfortable and quiet, I would be happy to stay again (maybe on a night that the restaurant is open)

Nice pub in a lovely little village. Room was clean and tidy when we arrived . Tea and coffee making facilities provided And outside our room extra biscuits tea coffee as well as an iron and board if needed for the guests . Accommodation was about five minutes walk from railway station which was very convenient and handy for visiting other places . Our room wasn’t maintained during our stay which was a bit disappointing . Only the bed was made . Also there were no toiletries provided nor bath mat so had to be extra careful when climbing over bath to get a shower. Overall we had a nice stay and met some lovely people .

Outstanding hospitality, the facilities and bedrooms are 5 Star. The Resturant food and staff are worthy of a location in central London. Professional, Friendly and Highly Attentive. The Chef and Kitchen Brigade’s talent speaks for itself when your food arrives at the table. The Atmosphere in the Bar is homely and welcoming, from the minute we walked into the pub until the second we left we were made to feel not only as locals but part of the landlords & landlady’s family..! We were there over Hogmanay and New Year’s Day and the entertainment over the two nights were amazing, an ecliptic array of old and new, what a celebration of local young musical talent..! This facility has to be on your bucket list if your planning a visit to Northumberland, far enough away from Newcastle to have a remote countryside feeling, yet close enough to the city for an away day or even a night out at the Quay Side…!!! Watch this space; we’ll be back and next time we wont be on our own..!!!!!! The Ship Inn, a real English Public House..!

Very comfortable stay at the Ship. Lovely room and hosts. Good location to access the last stage of the Hadrians Wall walk and the Tyne. Clean, spacious, well equipped and well appointed room. Thank you for making our last night on the wall walk comfortable.

We were walking Hadrians wall when we were badly let down by the host of Heddon lodge and we had to find alternative accommodation after 17miles walking. Luckily for us we managed to get booked into the Ship Inn and we were so glad we did. Lovely hosts and nice rooms. There is a bistro just across the road for breakfast. We would definitely recommend a short detour to stay here rather than Heddon (definitely not Heddon lodge) and it’s an easy walk to the trail and to the river.

When we arrived there was an issue with our booking (third party, not the Ship Inn). The team could not have been any better, going over and above to ensure that we had somewhere to stay. The bar was well stocked and the pub/restaurant was lovely. Thanks again to the team who saved the day 🙏

Friendly welcome, lovely room - clean and modern. Nice bath, beds comfy and good night’s sleep. Minor improvements would be a hairdryer and more milk for tea. Great location - would recommend. We were walking Hadrians Wall.
