Considering the location in Zermatt, I think this hotel is very good value for money.
If I come to Zermatt again, I will consider this hotel.
The information at the reception is also in Japanese.
Although it was a mountain view room, you cannot see the Matterhorn. There is a spa (sauna), but I did not use it.
The hotel is located in the best location walkable from the Zermatt main station easy to find food and drinks, close to coop and the hotel have nice terrace in front that u can sit for people watching our room had nice view of
matterhorn comfortable bed. With moon roof
The location is close to Zermatt Station, and there is no problem dragging two suitcases. The Matterhorn peak is slightly visible, hidden by trees, so it seems good for checking if it is the Golden Horn.

Close to the train station. Although I got an upgrade to a double room, it was small (the table in front of the bed takes a lot of space). The bathroom was big and clean but outdated. The balcony was nice but not really needed in winter.
Everyone can enter the ski room and the individual locker cannot be locked. Perfect for thieves.
This hotel is too fond of it! The decoration of the hotel is very beautiful and the room can see the snowy mountains! The service staff was very good at night. It was like waiting for us to call out my name. I also prepared wine and tea as a welcome drink. Breakfast is delicious, although there are not many types, but the whole environment will make you enjoy it. I will book it next time and ask the front desk to tell you all kinds of information. The store that rents ski clothes downstairs will also give you a 10% discount.
For a truly memorable stay in Zermatt, look no further than the Traditional Julen Hotel. We travelled throughout Switzerland, and the view from our Matterhorn room was hands down the best we experienced. Waking up to that iconic peak every morning was simply breathtaking.
The service at the Julen is impeccable. The staff is incredibly accommodating and went above and beyond to meet every need we had, making us feel truly welcome. Speaking of needs, be sure to grab a bite at their downstairs restaurant. The food is excellent, though the space is a little on the cozy (some might say claustrophobic) side. Don't let that deter you, though - the culinary experience is well worth it.
Overall, the Traditional Julen Hotel is a fantastic choice. Splurge on the Matterhorn room for an unforgettable view, and rest assured knowing you'll be taken care of by a truly exceptional team. Highly recommended!
I am very satisfied with the fact that I can see the Matterhorn from the balcony. The front desk was very considerate and sent it to the room. It also introduced various instructions in detail. There is a special welcome card and the facilities are complete. There are also chocolates of the same type as the Matterhorn in the refrigerator. You can take pictures and check in. There are various commercial streets. convenient
Access from Zermatt station requires climbing a steep hill, so dragging a large suitcase was a bit of a challenge. The staff were kind and flexible with early morning check-out. The room was very spacious and clean, and the view from the balcony was amazing. The only amenities were body soap, but I brought my own shampoo and other items, so it wasn't a problem. The water pressure in the shower was also fine. I had a very comfortable stay. If I had more time, I would have liked to stay longer.
The service here are the best. The staff are very lovely and super nice. The beds are very comfy. Very satisfied with this hotel. Would recommend this hotel if you’re looking for an accommodation in Zermatt.
It is still a bit far from Zermatt Railway Station, especially when it snows on the road, I will give up the box and walk to the hotel, because I don't know where to go when I go to the half of the navigation, and I will take a taxi directly to the train station! It seems that no one will check in after 7 pm. If you need an email, you will send the door password to enter by yourself, but you can also forward the email to contact Trip.com customer service. Breakfast is still good! The room is actually quite general!

Excellent
Eecho小老鼠The hotel is one of the most satisfying hotels I have stayed in in Switzerland these days.
The first day I came to Zermatt was snowy and I went up the mountain but didn’t see the Matterhorn.
Unexpectedly, I saw the Rizhao Jinshan Mountain from the hotel balcony the next morning.
so lucky
Hotel service is very good
There are outdoor hot springs, etc.
I don’t know if it’s because of my diamond membership. They upgraded me to a room upstairs. Very good. Thank you.
GGuest UserIt is within a ten-minute walk from the train station. There is no hilly road, so it is very convenient to push a large luggage. It takes only a few minutes to walk to the streets of the town and the gornergrate train station. There is also a bus to the cable car station to Matterhorn glacier paradise nearby.
The hotel is very clean and warm, and the swimming pool and sauna inside are small and beautiful. The most recommended is the pub restaurant dude in the hotel. There is a waitress who is very warm and welcoming when there are so many group tourists. She also serves the food as early as possible. When the portion is large and I want to cancel other meals, she also responds very emotionally and meets the needs, which is impressive.
GGuest UserThe Matterhornlodge is located about a 5-10 min walk from the Zermatt station.
We arrived at about 1pm and were informed that check-in was only at 2pm so we went for lunch and returned at around 2.30pm. We were greeted by Ruth, the proprietress of the hotel, who gave us a comprehensive briefing of the house rules and policies. Ruth was very warm, friendly, and charming; she was very guest-focused and was happy to find out more about where we were from and what we planned to do. Ruth even gave us recommendations for Bern when we told her we were going there next.
Although the hotel is stated to be 4 stars, we were very impressed by the room and the amenities. The bathroom came with a bidet and the toiletries provided were of good quality. The room was also very spacious with enough room to open up 2 luggage bags. The towels and robes were thick, warm, and fluffy.
The breakfast provided in the morning was also quite good with a decent selection of breads, cold cuts, cheese, and eggs.
At checkout, Ruth also gave us a complimentary ride to the train station in her electric vehicle.
All in all, we had a very enjoyable stay at the Matterhornlodge and we were very impressed by Ruth’s hospitality.
AAnonymous UserIt was good! It was very good!
The room is compact, but everything is available.
However, it was painful because the previous guest had a banana in the refrigerator, and it smelled like bananas, and I was not good at bananas.
The hot water was good, and above all, there was a bathtub, so I was soaked in a long time and got tired.
The aunt at the reception was kind and kind.
And I would like to recommend breakfast 🥞
It was a pity that there was no vegetable, but the Indian woman with the cute dining room and the staff was very impressive.
The raw ham, cheese and butter in Switzerland were also very delicious!
SShih Yuin ChewFirst of all, this place look MUCH better than the pictures. The whole building is new and well furnished instead of the rundown look on the booking website.
And the bed is comfy and new. You just have to make your own bed: mattress, pillow and quilt. Locker is spacious too, with partition and hanger.
I love how espresso/cappucino is free flow in the breakfast. And the breakfast has a good variety tho basic: different cheeses/ham, breads, jams etc, enough to keep me not bored for two nights.
The staffs at reception were mostly helpful and vibrant in personality as well.
There are fridge in the dining room too, which is a very important feature for guests staying in youth hostel. Because saving on food is one of the major reasons guests stay in youth hostel.
Another good thing is free luggage storage before check-in and after check-out.
That said, there are two huge problem with the hostel: one, the charger in the room. Because the socket is facing down, if one’s using heavy adapter and, even worse, along with a big charger, it’s almost certain to fall. And there’s only one socket on the wall. I was lucky for the 2nd night to switch to that bed, else I had to spend a good 1-2 hours in common area to have my phone/laptop etc charged. To me it’s a design that serves almost no purpose and even arguably insensitive to international traveler. Not sure how they’re gonna fix it for other travelers, but charging is almost #1 travelling need for travelers.
The 2nd issue was with the bathroom on the top floor. The automatic light went off way too quickly, and it’s barely sensitive to motion when you’re in the shower cubicle. You have to open the door, and reach your hands out to have it turned back on, when everything is pitch dark. Many including me had talked about it, but no effective action was taken.
P/S: From this place to Gornergrat, you have two stations to choose from: Zermatt or Findelbach, the latter is closer and 3.5CHF cheaper, but at the cost of more demanding uphill climbing.
WWei travelsOverall experience is good.
Through we did not get the ideal room (high floor) due to full booking, we got a bigger room on the first floor.
Cleanliness and location was great, walkable to the train station and it was accessible to the main street.
Amenities were good - kettle was provided to boil hot water, tv could login to your own netflix account, there was tea time provided at 4pm daily.
GGuest UserExcellent location, 5-10min walk from the train station. Near to both Coop and Migros. Room was cosy and clean but mattress/bed will need upgrading. It's too soft and will sink in when sleep on.
Check in counter is in another hotel a few steps away. Will be great if guests can be informed prior.
There's a small lift in the hotel, good for those with heavy luggages!
RrickychungkkI had an amazing stay at this place! The location was perfect—close to the city center, public transportation, local shops, and restaurants. The apartment was clean, well-decorated, and equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The bed was very comfortable, and we appreciated the thoughtful touches like complimentary coffee, luxury toiletries, and a guidebook with local tips.
The host was an excellent host, providing clear communication and quick responses to any questions we had. They even left a welcome basket and gave us great restaurant recommendations.
Overall, this Airbnb exceeded our expectations, and we would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area. We hope to return soon!
HHong AVery amazed by the level of automation in the hotel! Check-in was seamless even though it was just an iPad. We needed to pay a tourist tax via an online link prior to arrival but we were abit wary given the number of online scams nowadays - perhaps it’ll be better to charge everything up front?
There was free coffee available as well, which was a huge plus. The room was amazing, spotlessly clean, sufficiently big, had a balcony, comfortable bed. One of the staff (a guy) allowed us to put our luggage in the room early even though we could only encode our card after 3pm. He even helped us make a reservation at Du Pont as we didn’t have a Swiss number, thanks very much!
The hotel is a 10min walk from the main train station, though there are free buses which can shorten the journey. We just walked as it was faster.
We were in Swiss for 2 weeks and this hotel is definitely the best accommodation we had - for a very good price as well!
GGuest user123Initially I was a bit apprehensive about this hotel based on reviews but it was a good stay!! Great value for Zermatt! Walking distance about 10 mins from Zermatt station, on shopping street. Toilets and stairway up a bit small but ok for us. Luckily we were located on first floor so didn’t have to climb up too many stairs with our luggage. There’s a pizzeria below. Things to note: didn’t see a bin ( only a small one in toilet) so maybe bring your own plastic bag for a bin as well as room slippers.
Place was clean! However there’s some loud music that played even in the wee hours of the night like 3am, so if you are a light sleeper, you might need to put on some ear plugs to muffle the noise out. Nonetheless, A huge thank you for the stay. Convenient, Breakfast was awesome, simple spread but very heartwarming and the coffee was the most delicious I’ve had. It was the Easter weekend so there’s pretty Easter eggs for breakfast too! The lady owner was lovely and check in and check out was very easy and seamless. We stayed for a night and would recommend this place.
