First, let me start with a compliment! The service attitude was exceptionally good! Whether it was asking the customer service小姐姐 for two extra quilts because I'm sensitive to cold, or asking the kitchen姐姐 for a plate to wash some fruit, everyone was incredibly willing to help! No one showed any impatience whatsoever. Everyone was genuinely wonderful, like a big, happy family! Now for the downsides: The secondhand smoke issue is really serious! From the moment you walk in, there are smokers everywhere, and there are ashtrays outside the rooms on the second floor, with people smoking there every day. Of course, I had seen reviews mentioning this before checking in, so I was mentally prepared. Also, the water heater was still quite unstable, alternating between scalding hot and freezing cold. I was practically doing a tango in the shower! Overall, it's great value for money, and I even found a companion. I would still recommend staying at 'Dajiaoshi' if you're traveling alone!

Most of my hotels during my trip in China have been good, but this one was my favorite. The location —right by the ancient city and easy to catch a ride to anywhere else. From the airport bus it’s about 12minute walk. And maybe 15min from the ancient city entrance. You get an open sky view and can see Jade Dragon Snow mountain from the roof quite clear. The rooms—are clean and have automatic lighting and window curtains. They upgraded my room for free and it was quite spacious and met all my needs. Though there isn’t a fridge to store things, so keep in mind. The room has AI as well. The meals/tea—on the 5th floor is where all the meals and tea is served looking out at the mountain. The breakfast was the same, and if you’re from western countries don’t expect a western breakfast. The noodles and fried side dish was delicious-I love a good savory breakfast. I wasn’t able to try the afternoon tea (which is so good) until my last day, and they let me come back after check out before I took a taxi to the airport. The evening tea is butter tea, but I didn’t drink it as I had tried it previously elsewhere and wasn’t a huge fan. The staff—everyone is very kind and helpful and always greeting you when you come. I had some issues with the AI in the room and they were quick to come help fix it. And when I made a mistake during food delivery one of the staff was so kind enough and went to get it for me 😭 so they all went above and beyond. Most of our conversation was through translating apps but that never stopped them making sure I was comfortable during my visit.

I haven't stayed at Atour many times, but I chose this Atour for my first night in Kunming, mainly because of its excellent location. It's very close to Kunming Station and near Kunming Old Street, so I could explore the night scenery there. The parking lot is on the fourth floor across the street. You have to carry your luggage down to the first floor, cross the street, take an elevator to the seventh floor, and then reach the Atour front desk, which was a bit inconvenient. The room wasn't very big, and both the bed and duvet felt a bit small. However, all the facilities and equipment were brand new. I'm particular about the comfort of shower facilities, and they proved to be excellent, even better than those at the InterContinental Kunming where I stayed later. The congee in the evening was thick and delicious, very refreshing. The gym, though small, was fully equipped, and they even placed a bottle of water on each piece of equipment, showing great attention to detail. While breakfast wasn't particularly lavish, the staff were exceptionally good. Even when they announced that they were about to close, they were still refilling depleted food items, which many hotels costing thousands wouldn't necessarily do. Overall, after this short stay, I'm very satisfied with Atour; I feel like I've become a fan.

This charming homestay is tucked away on a quiet side street, just a quick 2-minute walk from the main Lianian Street. My friends and I loved the beautiful courtyard and traditional architecture — it really captured the local character of Jianshui. We only stayed one night, right after the Golden Week holidays, and were pleasantly surprised that the staff could arrange spacious rooms for us on the same second floor (I’d recommend choosing the second floor over the first). The staff were friendly and very responsive to our questions and requests. One thing to note: because it’s designed in a traditional courtyard style, you can hear other guests talking if you leave your windows open — but that’s part of the authentic atmosphere!

This hotel is located right inside the Dongfengyun scenic area. They provide complimentary entrance tickets and a travel photoshoot, along with a shuttle service that makes getting around and taking pictures super convenient. The hotel itself is a stunning red-brick art building, incredibly well-designed and seamlessly integrated with the scenic area, so every photo you take looks great. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, facing the Kaleidoscope, with cozy bedding and excellent soundproofing – perfect for a holiday vibe. The service was also great, with friendly staff and a smooth check-in process. During the Spring Festival, there were plenty of activities, so you didn't need to jostle with crowds at the main attractions. The only downside was the afternoon tea, which was quite disappointing and needs improvement.

I had the most beautiful stay in Jianshui. The hotel was clean, bright and very comfortable. The hospitality was fantastic, which as a solo traveller I was very grateful for. I was given tea and fruit on arrival and the laoban introduced me to all the key spots in Jianshui and sent me recommendations of food spots too. I was given a delicious breakfast with some of the best congee I've had in China! I really felt at home. The location is fantastic, right in the old town on a beautiful side street with a peaceful quaint atmosphere. The hotel also organised a taxi to take me onto my next destination - thank you both for a wonderful stay. I cannot recommend this hotel enough!

Extremely satisfied, I felt compelled to write a positive review. First off, the location is right in the city center, making it incredibly convenient for dining and shopping. There's even a popular网红 (internet-famous) spot downstairs with a long queue. The service was also excellent. Even during the busy Chinese New Year period with many guests, everything ran smoothly and in an orderly fashion. The breakfast, in particular, deserves a special mention; it offered a wide variety of options, including Xidoufen (a local rice jelly soup), Ersi (rice noodles), and various noodle dishes. Choosing this hotel over other older five-star establishments and chain hotels was definitely a great decision.

Reasons for recommendation: Firstly, the boss is great. Despite his cool exterior, the young man has a warm heart. He offered a welcoming tea, actively helped with luggage, and saw guests off. He also proactively helped book various tickets at fair prices with guaranteed quality, and provided all sorts of assistance to meet guests' needs. Secondly, the guesthouse location is excellent. Situated on Lion Hill, it offers a super wide view. The path from Sifang Street back to the guesthouse is my favorite in the entire ancient city. The winding uphill trail becomes less crowded the further you go, leading to a very tranquil part of the ancient city. There are no bars nearby, so you don't have to worry about noise. Plus, it's very convenient to get back to the guesthouse from outside the ancient city; cars can drive all the way up the hill, and it's just a few tens of meters walk to the guesthouse. Thirdly, the guesthouse environment is lovely. The guesthouse's signage, much like the boss, is understated, so much so that you might often accidentally walk past it. Beyond the outer corridor, the small courtyard is a hidden gem with flowers, plants, fish, and even a white magnolia tree. On the first day, there was an available room, so the boss upgraded our room type for free. From the room, you can enjoy the ancient city's night view and watch the sunrise over the ancient city in the morning. However, most houses in the ancient city are wooden structures, so soundproofing is a bit lacking. Those sensitive to noise should consider this carefully. But everyone staying there was quite considerate, and I wasn't bothered by noise at all during my stay. I'm writing these genuine stay experiences hoping they can help those of you on your phone screen who are still undecided. Finally, the key takeaway: the boss is handsome and kind-hearted. Next time I come to Lijiang, I will still choose Yueshang. I hope it stays around forever and its business thrives.

This hotel is very close to the ancient city, and food deliveries from the ancient city can reach the hotel, which is super convenient. The front desk staff were very enthusiastic; they helped us with our luggage and even let us choose our room. There's a laundry room on the fourth floor, and a drying area where you can hang clothes. There's also a terrace with direct views of Cangshan Mountain. The aunt responsible for breakfast is a local and gave us tips on visiting Cangshan Mountain and the Three Pagodas of Chongsheng Temple. The rice noodles for breakfast were delicious. You can park in front of the hotel, and there's free parking nearby as well. The hotel also offers car rental services.

The hotel is about 1 km from the airport terminal. They offer a shuttle service, which is really convenient. If your flight is delayed, this is a great place to stay for a few hours. You can take the shuttle back to the airport early the next morning and then catch the airport metro or bus from there. It felt very convenient. The room was also quite good, and overall, it was a positive experience. You can even see the airport from the hotel room, which was a nice touch.
