Very Good
GGuest UserThe hotel all in all is very good. Clean, polite staff and location is perfect.
Parking will have to be in the public parking around the corner which is about £20 for a day.
Online it said the hotel offers halal food but once we got there they said they aren't sure they do it.
The staff also informed us that we wouldn't be able to eat at the restaurant that day because they were booked for a function, but we feel this should've been communicated beforehand by email etc.
Other than this I think this hotel is the best in the area and is very classy and welcoming.
GGuest UserThis is my first hotel booking with Trip and I must say I was skeptical at first whether it would go through. Thankfully, the hotel did receive the confirmation. Just needed to tell the receptionist your surname and they’ll be able to locate you in their system.
We were passed complimentary cookies, which were really yummy. The bed in the double room was smaller than expected but it was still good enough for two adults. The rooms are not very soundproof so you can hear the outside cars if you’re on the side facing the city. But if you’re not overly sensitive, the sounds are acceptable.
The 24/7 gym was fairly well-equipped for the space capacity. They had gym towels, sanitary wipes, and water refiller.
The hotel breakfast was enjoyable as well. The restaurant had a good view. Overall, the stay was a really good deal! Would use Trip.com again.
GGuest UserOverall, our trip was just perfect. The hotel is in an excellent location with ample parking. At only £15 per 24 hours, we found this great value. The hotel is on a hill, but the buses run frequently directly outside the hotel. Our room was large and clean with everything you could need. The breakfast was fantastic and so much choice. It certainly set us up for the day. The staff are friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay again.
AAnne Saw YuOverall, the hotel experience was good and the staff were lovely. The only downside was that our room had very loud water pipe noises, which could be quite disturbing at times. We were also given an accessible room, which was unexpected. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay.
RRosie CawthorneI love Charlton house, it was really quirky. The way it has been styled is really unusual. It makes you feel like you're in a bit of a fantasy world with the little corridors and quirky little nooks and crannies. For me it fit the bill, it did the job that I needed but I understand for those people that do not get it on an offer and pay a lot of money to stay there I understand how they might say that it's a bit dirty a bit tired a bit grubby and needs a bit of TLC. There seemed to be one very sweet man that was running around doing pretty much everything and the rest of the staff were hidden behind doors or just not there. I'm not sure. There were staff present in the spa and they were lovely and helpful and kind. My little room was gorgeous and cute and cozy, and clean enough although tatty in places. For me I really had a nice day and I would definitely come back. The breakfast was extremely basic but I didn't have extremely high expectations, and I'm not really a breakfast person, so again it may not make the tick box for others but it did the job for me. Thank you Charlton house.
LLukasz KowalikAn amazing hotel. The staff responded to every additional question without any problems. The food in the hotel restaurant was fantastic. The room was clean and spacious, with a huge bathroom, shower, and bathtub. The hotel has a swimming pool and sauna available until 10 p.m. The reception was friendly and welcoming. I will definitely recommend it to friends and will gladly return
GGuest UserThe hotel is attractive and full of charm, with a pleasant aspect facing the church, however, the surrounding area of Bridgwater is rather run down. Staff were very efficient and checked us in quickly and efficiently. Unfortunately, we didn't get to try the restaurant as it was closed due to it being Father's Day. Our room was ok, and had a large bathroom with both shower and separate bath. There was plenty of hot water available, but aware that it was almost scalding when allowed to run without cold added. The bed was comfortable and the room well equipped with tea facilities, ironing board and iron and hair dryer. Due to the age of the building, there was a lot of noise from residents walking around in the rooms above ours, but it wasn't too obtrusive. Breakfast was very good with a choice of full English or continental and my gluten allergy was catered for. If you need to stay in Bridgwater, then I would recommend The Old Vicarage, but we would probably look in the villages further out of the town in future.
GGuest UserI booked a deluxe double room for just one night. We were very happy with our room, which was spacious, clean and well appointed. The bed was very comfortable as were the pillows.
The welcome from Reception was warm and friendly.
There is parking at the hotel but this is run by NCP and costs just under £10 for a 24 hour stay. Payment is via an APP so I suggest installing that on your phone before you arrive. There is not the option to pay by cash or card at the machine.
The hotel itself is very charming, with individually decorated bedrooms and a host of period features and furniture in the public rooms. We were meeting my son for dinner in a nearby restaurant for dinner so cannot comment on the Dining Room and we opted out of breakfast as we had an early lunch arranged. We did enjoy some cocktails in Brazz, where the service and quality of the drinks were appreciated.
AAnonymous UserThe hotel is situated on a beautiful road with amazing buildings surrounding it. It is pretty much a stone’s throw away from where all of the shops, bars, and cafes are.
The staff are extremely friendly, always smiling as they greet you. They act professionally and even give you ideas and suggestions for tours.
The room we had wonderfully tall walls and high ceiling, however, the carpet for the floor hurt our feet to walk on, so I would suggest taking slippers (we did not take any unfortunately).
All in all, it was a great place to stay with a delicious breakfast the morning after. Would definitely stay there again.
GGuest UserCompetent hotel with comfortable bed and good shower. Nice bar, didn’t try the food.
Not happy to pay £10 for parking, but not knowing the town gave us little choice.
Location is generally not good because the town of Bridgewater is really pretty dire. Would not return for that reason.
