We booked this hotel via Amoma. Com as it stated that this hotel had large family rooms, pets were welcome and that the rooms had air-conditioning. All not true. We were asked to pay an additional 30 euros for our third child. We had also booked a quiet room but faced the very noisy street. The room was extraordinaryly hot and staff did not provide us with a fan. The room was small but reasonably clean. No tea or coffee making facilities. The bathroom was ok but hairdryer did not work. Interiors quite tired. The biggest problem with this hotel is the location. It is the local druggie hang out. We saw people using drugs in the street right outside the hotel and it was clear that this is not a safe area. The riot police attended several incidents during our stay and made several arrests. **********s operate in this area too. We would not recommend to stay here and it certainly was not even good value for money.

Great location. Easy to get around and get back to the place at night. If you're a light sleeper I wouldn't recommend the shared rooms, people coming back late at night, the doors close quite loudly. My only complaint is that I received a keycard to the wrong room and walked right into a private suite.. Nobody was there thankfully and I just walked right out, but if I were staying in a private room I would hate to think that strangers could just walk into my room where all my belongings are lying around. Otherwise clean and quite a cool environment.

The beautiful, large lobby, which reflects the long history of the hotel is hugely impressive whilst the rooms are stylishly modern. My room had plenty of room for storage (often lacking in many hotels), a very comfortable double bed and an immaculate, well designed large bathroom. Breakfast offerings were exceptional and it was good (and rare) to be able to have items cooked to order. The lobby cafe/bar was pleasant but service was disappointingly slow. Although these are difficult times due to the pandemic, it was a great shame that the restaurant and bar were both closed. Given that most other hospitality premises had reopened in Hamburg, I found it odd that the hotel had not been able to open them and had not publicised that fact more openly on their website.

The city hotel is located on a side street near the main station. The reception was friendly and the check-in was speedy. The rooms are beautiful but relatively small. Stack and deposition are only few available. As a single traveler, it didn't disturb me, but a couple with two bags would have had some difficulty. However, the bed was very comfortable, the bathroom was also rather small, but convenient. The room was always very well cleaned. The breakfast buffet offered a good choice and was of good quality. The location of the hotel is really optimal for a city trip. I was in any case satisfied.

It was among the most cheap in the city and with parking what is essential for us. unfortunately the parking was not available and we get the one of the station that all is 500 m walk. check in from 15 and not first in a place other than The room is very kind, but the latest floor is not badly large with two adjacent rooms and two bathrooms. modern furniture good and clean bathroom. moquettes and chair chair to wash or better put them new. The Wi-Fi did not find it but perhaps it was there. My mistake was not asking it. a little bit dirty, but all safely

This is a really good hotel for families, couples, singles, businesspeople, indeed everyone. The initial check in meeting set the scene, with a relaxed but very professional welcome and introduction to the hotel and its services. Breakfast is self-service, with the full range of English breakfast/German favourites/pancakes/toast/fruit/yoghurt/etc., etc. Typical of the high standard of service is that when my wife and I sat in the bar area near the lifts on a Sunday afternoon, a staff member came across to apologise for the use of the passenger lifts for moving the huge heaps of laundry, as the service lift had broken down and the engineer had the day off. The staff member, like all the staff, switched from German to English once he realised our nationality. Excellent! Rooms are large, beds are comfortable (with a choice of pillow types) and bathrooms/wardrobes well equipped. Good soundproofing removes the traffic noise (apart from occasional sirens on emergency vehicles) There is a Lidl store opposite (like 90% of the retailers, it closes on Sundays) and the local police station is across the road. The Arcotel Rubin is a shining light in a sometimes less than salubrious area of Hamburg. A lady on her own may not feel comfortable in the streets around Steindamm, where the mix of characters, beliefs, and lifestyles sometimes creates an atmosphere which may be seen as threatening. That said, my wife and I (both seniors) were not concerned as we walked along Steindamm each evening to and from the Arcotel, and we were not approached by beggars or others, For those who want a really good hotel but without the potential issues, there is a local rail station just 100 yards from the hotel, with connections to all of the sights. The main rail station is an easy walk of around 8 to 10 minutes. Recommended!

Stayed at this Hotel for 2 nights 21st June / 23rd June and my stay was faultless. I had booked a single room, but was upgraded to a double. The room was very large and spotless, with a lovely bathroom with a large walk in shower. The breakfast was excellent with many hot and cold choices. The breakfast room was lovely and the staff were always clearing away the used plates etc. The staff at the check in were always smiling, and were extremely polite. I have to say the breakfast staff were the same. Be aware that the room key envelope also caters for your free travel ticket. This is one of the best Hotels I have ever used. Other Hotels could learn from this Hotel, re how it treats their guests. A faultless stay...well done to all members of staff.

As always Novotel never disappoints, clean, quiet room, comfortable bed and large TV. Spacious bathroom with shower. New, modern and well-maintained structure. Serious and professional staff. Particularly well-stocked breakfast, sweet, savory, fruit etc etc. I highly recommend this property!

I stayed in ”Alte Wache” hotel 2 nights for working reasons, arriving by taxi from the apt. The kindness, courtesy and service efficiency of the gentleman and the lady at the reception deserve a top rate. They both are a great example of care and warm hospitality, making every guest feel really welcomed. The lobby is nice in its old fashion style, the double room is spacious, perfectly clean and silent; breakfast was very good, and much better than some 4stars hotel: the tea blend selections very appreciated and the fresh flower on the tables a lovely, precious gift!! 2 small suggestions: 1) the morning waitress should be a little bit more smilying; 2) do not accomodate a person alone in a dinner table for 6. The hotel is also extremely close to city center (walking distance), so I really reccomend it!!

We stayed here for 5 days for a family visit. The hotel surprised us in a good way. Everything was clean efficient and pleasant. The location was also ideal for us (5min to the subway/tube station). Modern building, nice breakfast buffets - nice bathroom, and quiet room. Couldn't ask for more. Wir waren sehr zufrieden mit allem. I think it also presented good value for money.
