4 nights at The Cook and Barker recommended by friends who have stayed many times. We have not been disappointed. Comfortable room with a really comfortable bed. Excellent food on 2 nights, 1 bar meal and 1 restaurant meal where the shared rack of Texel lamb was amazing. breakfasts are well worthy of their AA rating with a wide choice, catering to mist tastes.. I have had kippers, kedgeree, and lambs kidneys. The restaurant was busy every night..surely a good indication of quality? I have no hesitation in saying we will be back, one day soon

We had been told about this place by a local couple whilst staying at the Northumberland arms hotel. They had said the food was good. We arrived about 5pm ,and we were immediately greeted by a friendly face behind the bar who was keen to help us with the menu on offer for the evening. We sat for a drink and after a short while decided to stay for dinner. The menu was great, as well as the specials board everything was covered from small plates to three course dinner. Our waitress Gladys was lovely , so helpful, and gave us a smile and a cheery word all evening. We had the rack of lamb to share…..absolutely delicious, and so well presented …..treat yourselves to that! A good price too! Our starter was Camembert platter to share, plenty for the two of us with olives , onion relish and bread . Didn’t have a sweet because we were full. The place is so friendly , it was our first ever visit and we felt so welcome. Thank you all, it was quite obvious you are a great team and work hard to give us customers a lovely experience We will be back 😋

Coming back from Edinburgh and needing a place to stay for the evening found this gem of a hotel online! Was not disappointed, the buzzing bar and friendly staff made the place feel very welcoming. The food was amazing! We spent a night in an annexe room, what can I say, other than it was excellent, very nicely decorated and the huge bed was very comfortable, had a good nights sleep. The bathroom was clean but dated, my partner struggled having a shower as the shower head was quite low so couldn’t stand directly under it. Other than than a perfect pit stop, definitely recommend it!

My fiance and I stayed at the Cook & Barker a couple of weeks ago for two nights as we had a wedding nearby. From the moment we arrived the staff were so warm and welcoming. Being real Londoners in every sense of the word, we'd forgotten to pre-book cabs for our stay - if you don't drive make sure you do so in advance as it's a super remote location and cabs are often booked up on weekends due to wedding parties. However, the staff went so far above and beyond, dropping us off twice at different places nearby when we were in a pinch, and couldn't have been friendlier. We stayed in the Cook suite which was enormous, luxurious and such a nice treat for a weekend away, would thoroughly recommend it if you're looking to make your stay even more special. We had a late flight back and the staff allowed us to store our luggage until we needed to leave at no extra charge. The pub & restaurant is also gorgeous and the food was great - particularly the Sunday roast. Would thoroughly recommend a stay!

What a fantastic pub with lovely traditional old charm , after a lovey week away on our last day the weather was bit iffy so went their for lunch , what a find , beautiful fire even though july as was a damp day , Enid was amazing sorted us place in the bar even though it was extremely busy , sold out of the lamb on the daily specials , but asked chef if he had any other Lamb, as it’s what I love when out as my husband hates it !! The whole afternoon was such a lovely end to our stay , so much so I have just spoken to Enid now and I’ve booked a weekend there , as she made us so welcome and nothing was to much trouble .

Wonderful visit! We LOVE this place; great food too! Nice, large rooms. Comfortable beds. Wonderful customer service. Breakfast was fabulous. The locals in the pub were great too! Lovely village. Can’t wait to visit again.

Staying locally this place was recommended to us for good food and boy was he right The building itself is very impressive and the interior is lovely with lots of old beams and random farm equipment The staff were very friendly and attentive but the food itself was delicious We had a Camembert starter to share then my girlfriend had a roasted pork dish and I had the lambs liver All very filling and beautifully cooked and presented I finished with a very tasty liqueur coffee Reasonable prices for what we had and would definitely recommend

What a ghastly place. It has nothing going for it whatsoever. My wife and I couldn’t wait to get away. The food was awful, the service was terrible and we had a dreadful time. We will never ever come back.

I had the pleasure of spending two nights at this delightful inn whilst attending a nearby sporting event and it was hugely enjoyable. My room was modern, clean, comfortable and well-equipped, and service uniformly excellent, being friendly and efficient. Breakfast was outstanding and the dinner / lunch menu wide - the food itself voluminous and pretty good quality, albeit not quite fine dining.
