The Polochar Inn is situated next to a stunning beach with views of unforgettable sunsets. The managers, David and Leanne , are fantastic hosts with a great sense of humour and made our stay even more enjoyable. The rooms have stunning views of the sea and the food is exceptional. We will definitely recommend the Polochar Inn to family and friends and can’t wait to return. .

We have been here several times before and it was very good. However, it would appear there is a change of management which rather resembles a FAWLTY TOWERS experience!! We had booked months in advance. We emailed to check our booking was ok and received a confirmation email to say it was fine. On arrival the management looked surprised to see us & didn’t appear to have a table for us. We were directed to the bar. We waited and waited and eventually they came with menus but we were told all starters were off and we could only have a main course. We voiced our disapproval/disappoin**ent and waitress returned from speaking to chef telling us they could do soup. We didn’t feel this was good enough. She went back to speak to chef and returned saying all starters were available after all with a comment that she had muddled us with someone else (strange). We chose starters BUT now we are told most of the main courses are off the menu. Back she goes to chef. We now have a choice of two but with pressure & to and fro ing to chef we were offered a steak. We had little choice but to accept.- it was now almost 9.15 and our booking was 8pm. We had received nothing. The starters eventually arrived followed by steaks. All food was awful - mussels overcooked and dry, steak tough etc. we felt for the waitress (don’t shoot the messenger comes to mind!!) The whole experience and service we received would make a good additional episode to Fawlty Towers. If we hadn’t paid good money it would have been laughable. BE WARNED. This restaurant is not what it was. Such a shame. We won’t be returning. We won’t be recommending.

David and Leanne are the most perfect Inn keepers. We arrived on our bikes rather late and very wet, from that moment on they did everything they could to be welcoming, kind and helpful. The restaurant provided us with delicious food for dinner and a scrumptious breakfast to set us on our way. Thank you for everything 🤩

Disappointing The hotel has seen better days although the restaurant was clean our room was far from it and unfortunately had a smell of smoke. The manager was very concerned that we hadn’t paid when we had paid a 30% deposit in December and the full amount 5 days ago. The food was ok but having travelled through north and south uist this was the most disappointing stay and not comparable with other hotels. The waitress from Liverpool was most helpful and kindly and working her socks off -she seemed to be doing everything -maybe staffing is a problem but think the new manager should reevaluate what they are offering, and get a decent cleaner Didn’t say anything at the time because the lady was doing her best.

Great place. The position is lovely, overlooking the water. The management couple were a joy, Very friendly and helpful - nothing was too much trouble. The food was superb, with thoughtful cooking and excellent ingredients. It was a very enjoyable stay with a light touch. The Liverpudlian input from the lady manager was a joy.

Great location, nice food, really helpful staff, no I mean REALLY helpful staff. The hotel is set on the southern tip of South Uist. it overlooks the sea. Round the corner is the small but charming isle of Eriskay.

A great stay. David and Lianne are new to the role, friendly and enthusiastic about the hotel. Views are second to none looking over the Atlantic and across to Barra. Excellent food and a great room. Tell David to keep off the chocolate.

Wonderful views, warm welcome and a lovely brunch by the sea. There is a public bar and lounge bar and outdoor seating area overlooking sea with islands in the distance. The place was quiet as out of season and I hope it gets busy in the summer as it deserves to thrive in such a lovely location - quite unique.

Booked dinner here while staying close by in our caravan. Was a little nervous having seen some negative reviews regarding previous management. Our fears were soon dispelled as we were warmly welcomed on arrival and the new manager was lovely and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. The meals we had were delicious and would certainly recommend eating here if you're in the area. The new manager only arrived 4 weeks ago but is definitely having a positive impact.
