"While the room itself was compact, the bathroom and toilet area felt relatively spacious. The shower and bathtub were combined in one area, with the toilet in a separate, adjacent room, which was very convenient. Upon check-in, the front desk offered a selection of bath salts, with a variety of scents to choose from. Controls for lights, air conditioning, and even requesting room cleaning were all handled via a bedside touchscreen, which was simple and intuitive to operate. Breakfast was also fantastic! It featured many local specialties from Miyagi Prefecture, and I really enjoyed putting together my own 'Date Breakfast' each morning. We were so exhausted from sightseeing every day that I didn't get many chances to photograph the hotel, only the breakfast."
"Located above the main station in Sendai , make it easy to access from airport and anywhere in Japan through the train , a lot of food in the station and shopping street just outside the station"
"great loacation, just a few minutes walk from station. lots of food and shopping nearby. convenience store at hotel building. Has self laundry and microwave, amenities (including drip coffee) provided. staff are friendly and professional, they helped keep my luggage overnight between my two bookings. room is spacious and clean, bathroom is quite large.
as the room face the street, it is a bit noisy in the evening as people leave restaurants after dinner/drinking."
"The hotel is conveniently located near the station, with a large shopping mall nearby. There is an onsen and a restaurant in the hotel itself, but the breakfast cost more than stated in the description.
The rooms are equipped with a shower, TV, refrigerator, air conditioner, and dehumidifier, and the beds are quite comfortable. Pajamas are provided, and other amenities can be picked up at the reception if needed"
"The room itself was remodel, the rest of the area like bathroom and general area shows its age. But as with all hotel in Japan even when the building is old, the facility maangement is always top notch that everything is kept spotless. Meaning while the style of the decor is older everything is always like mint. Cannot get more central location its always next to the busier street of Sendai and few min walk to the train station. the triple room with 3 beds is perfect for our family of 4."
"A nice little hotel, conveniently located near the Sendai Station and is easy to find. The artificial public hot bath, though small, is nice to get rid of fatigue after a day's tour. The breakfast place is a bit small but the food is very nice with sashimi. A bit disappointed though as they didn't serve beef tongue curry (beef curry instead) on the day of my stay, but overall quite a good hotel and will book again if I ever visit Sendai again."
"Hotel Monterey is centrally located just outside the Sendai Station and is easily seen after you exit the station. The staff was very courteous and helpful at the time of check in. Language could be an issue but is easily manageable. I was offered a single room in a lower floor and on my request for a room on the higher floor, without any hesitation I was allotted a double room on the higher floor.
The ambience of the restaurant for breakfast was great and the variety of food served catered to Japanese and western. The breakfast was delicious.
I had to extend my stay and this was also done seamlessly without any issues.
Overall a great hotel centrally located with plenty of shopping around. If I come to Sendai again, I will return to Hotel Monterey if I visit Sendai again."
"At Breakfast buffet they serve food with all the allergy ingredients but it was not at all clearly mentioned if it has pork or beef or chicken.
Example : there was a potato salad where it says they do not have pork in it but found out that they put pork sausage inside them while eating and they will will let you know after you ask them.
If they would have mentioned clearly it would be better to reconsider when you have allergy issues.
I feel that was poorly organized.
Please be careful with the allergy issues before eating during the breakfast and ask them in details about the ingredients if you feel confused."
"Conveniently located near the Sendai Station, quick access to 24/7 convenient stores with one being downstairs. Rooms are overall tidy and comfy, also come with all the essential amenities, and free snacks and drinks are available for guests on the reception floor."

Amazing
CCheng ya tingThe outdoor pool was very comfortable and enjoyable. ❤️
Afternoon tea was provided, plus there was a common area.
Free ramen was also available for a late-night snack. The library itself was a wonderful and relaxing environment. 🎊🎊
The massage chairs were available for unlimited trial use, and the ping-pong table required reservations, but was also very nice. 👍👍

Great
TTing11The lobby is beautiful. The main bathhouse has been renovated and is large with an open-air hot spring experience, which is great. The annex is a bit small and old, but you can go to both so it's not a problem. The room is an old-style hot spring hotel tatami room. It's okay for one night and two meals, but the breakfast is better than the dinner.

Great
HHansycUnexpectedly grand hotel, especially when you first walk in the front entrance. Very traditional hotel with great service, remember to book your free transport to and from the Sendai train station. The hot spring experience is as expected - comfortable, cozy, clean and relaxing. Highly recommended. The included Dinner and breakfast buffets are great and aside from the typical western food, it served up some local delicacies which were really nice and authentic. Highly recommended place for anyone looking at a day or two to unwind and relax.

AAnonymous UserHotel is approx 5 mins walk from Sendai station. Follow west exit. My single room is a bit small but spacious enough for a solo. Room was clean and linen crisp. 1 bottle of water provided each day. Onsen is small with one outdoor. Over my 2-day stay at most I bumped into another person in the onsen. 2 washers and dryers in the onsen facility. Wash is free (30 mins standard) but dryer is charged 100 yen for 20 mins which is enough to 80% dry a small load. Night ramen was delicious and I appreciate the ice cream and Yakult at the onsen. Family mart is 20 steps away. Didn’t try the breakfast. And it’s actually very near the Miyakoh highway bus centre.
IIvy chan HKThe hotel is very luxurious, the lobby has free alcohol and drinks, receives WiFi around, the hot springs to walk down the mountain, very special, the 1/F has a large hot spring, near the hot spring area free drinks until 12 midnight. We booked a triple room, the room was spacious, the ointment was no shower room, it was cheap and included breakfast and dinner. The food is rich. I will stay a few more nights next time I have the chance. Be sure to take a bath in the large bath. Very close to a whiskey factory visit. Make an appointment in advance though.
GGuest UserI absolutely loved this chain hotel. It's conveniently located very close to the station, though I'd recommend using navigation for the most straightforward route. Upon exiting the station, the easiest way is to head up to the second floor, walk a short distance, cross the street, and then take the stairs down. The room was a good size, and the layout was very practical.
GGuest UserThe hotel is conveniently located a 15-minute walk from the train station, and a Co-op supermarket is a 5-minute walk away for convenient shopping. Free hot and cold coffee, tea, and carbonated drinks are available 24 hours a day. I especially appreciated the lobby's desks with power outlets, perfect for those on the go to rest and organize documents. The front desk staff was attentive and helpful. During my three-night stay, I didn't use the public baths. The best part was the 11:00 AM check-out time. This hotel will definitely be my top choice for my next trip to Sendai.
GGuest UserAfter reading some reviews, I was wary about the stay, but it exceeded my expectations for its price point. It was clean enough, near tons of dining options but yet quiet enough, and the wifi worked very well for me and I was able to do my work (2h video call).
GGustavo TozzoPlace was fine, staff was courteous and helpful, room was clean and relatively good size, though the light switches were place at a very strange place, opposite wall to the head of the bed, and had to get up to switch lights off) no breakfast, and the price I paid was more expensive than what they advertised at the front of the hotel (¥5400 w/ breakfast) that bothered me, specially when they charge ¥1400 for breakfast! Pricey af! So I went kombini style… much cheaper!
But it was a good stay. ¥800 yen for parking (250 metres away on foot) until checkout.
