Sepilok Jungle Resort

Sepilok|0.23km from Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre (BSBCC)
I stayed at this resort for 2 nights, for the obvious reason of visiting the very close Sepilok Orangutans Rehabilitation Centre. I was a bit worried reading some of the reviews here but I had a very nice experience. The hotel is in the middle of the jungle and that is an experience itself. I had a room in the building 5 minutes walk from the main area (the less you pay, the more far you are). The food is not the best and I think it's a bit expensive for the quality. The swimming pool setting is very nice though I have skin issues and didn't use the pool (wasn't super clean). The staff is okay. They kept my bag for free at the reception with them since I had valuables and the room wasn't ready already (I arrived before check in time). They organized the transport back to the airport (it takes about 40 minutes by car, you can easily use Grab for around 19RM but leaving early in the morning I preferred to book in advance). The room is nice. A/C works (not too strong), bathroom is fine, bed and pillows a bit hard but nothing too extreme. All in all, it was an amazing experience. The hotel is walking distance to both the orangutans and the sun bear centres (literally a 5 minutes walk) and about half an hour to the Rainforest Discovery Center (beware of stray dogs not in the hotel, but in the area around it). I would suggest this place to people who don't mind basic accommodation and want to stay in the jungle. The atmosphere with the other guests was nice and relaxed. Free breakfast included with the room price (at least as I am typing this review). They can also book tours.

Sepilok Forest Edge Resort

We spent 4 nights over new year at the resort together with friends and enjoyed the stay a lot. The resort is really beautiful, at the edge of the jungle, full of trees and plants, with the houses nicely and loosely spread over the resort. The houses are nicely build and have a jungle outside shower. The resort has a really good restaurant serving local and delicious food. The staff is very friendly and the kids loved it as well.

Beautiful stay with an atmosphere where the room is complete. Lovely comfortable bed, mosquito net, clean linen and air conditioning. The breakfast is very limited and not a must have to look forward to, which is a shame because it really completes your stay. Can they still improve? You pay more for each extra; yoga, water, etc. While if you order à la carte the food is delicious. The swimming pool is clean, the temperature of the surrounding area is not really cooling, but our kids had a great time in it. Enough beds around it. We were here because the rest around it was fully booked. In terms of price/quality ratio, I thought it was less and you don't have to be here in terms of extra luxury for what you pay. Too bad because with all the finishing touches, this would really be highly recommended! Perhaps too critical and by Malaysia standards this is a luxury :) The staff is super friendly, can sing well and is always willing to help you.
Nature Lodge Sepilok

The hotel is in the jungle with all the good and bad things that come with it. On the plus side: close proximity to the Orangutan and Sun Bear Rehabilitation Centers, as well as the Rainforest Research Center. 5-15 minutes walk. Beautiful, almost untouched nature around. The territory of the hotel is well-groomed and pleasant. Rooms are good with spacious bathrooms. There is an air conditioner that works quite well. From the bad: tasteless monotonous food (there is no alternative, we are in the jungle) breakfasts are edible, but no more, poorly trained staff in the cafe, barely warm water in the shower in the morning (I did not dare to wash my hair), lack of brushes, combs, hair dryers and etc. However, all this is excusable, understandable, and I would not write about it if it were not for the ”icing on the cake”: just disgusting pillows. A piece of high dense foam rubber, from which the neck becomes numb in a minute. Falling asleep on this is not an easy task. It is difficult to explain this mockery of visitors by the conditions of the jungle.
Sepilok B&B

Food: The price includes a buffet breakfast (noodles, fried rice, toast with jam or cream, and fruit). The B&B has an independent small restaurant where you can buy lunch, dinner, drinks, and snacks. Meals include rice, noodles, soup, fried food and other options, as well as local specialty drinks. Clothes: There are wardrobes and hangers in the cabin, and you can also dry clothes on the balcony. Accommodation: The cabin suite is quite spacious, the bed is quite comfortable, and there are plenty of sockets for charging. The bathroom equipment in the suite is separated from wet and dry. There are lounge chairs on the balcony, where you can leisurely watch birds in the early morning. OK: You can take a bus from KK or Sandakan and get off at Sepilok Station. After getting off the bus, follow the Google map and walk there or take a grab. It’s not that far away. Yule: It is about a 5-minute walk from the Sepilok Tropical Rainforest Discovery Center. If you are lucky, you can see hornbills when you walk to the entrance of the B&B. The B&B also has many supporting itineraries to choose from.
