A faultless experience. A delightful cottage, immaculately clean, superb peaceful surroundings, great breakfasts and charming hosts. Deserving of every one of its 5 star rating. We look forward to revisiting Linda and Ian’s lovely home again before too long.

We booked in for our wedding anniversary. Linda and Ian were welcoming and keen to make our stay comfortable with good facilities and a breakfast menu of variety, cooked by Ian to a high standard. Home grown eggs and bread make by our hosts added that extra special touch. In fact, the whole breakfast experience was there to enjoy. Our room with the balcony gave beautiful views over the Devon countryside and the quiet was deafening. So peaceful and a world away from the usual city sounds. The ensuite facilities were another plus with clean fittings and space to move around. Nothing was too much trouble from the welcoming smile to general conversation, all was a great experience. Leaving was the hardest part as we could have stayed longer. Alas, All things must come to end. Hopefully, it will be nice to stay again in the future.

Had a lovely one night stay here, very warm welcome from Linda who was very accommodating, our room was spotlessly clean and beautifully furnished, lovely bath and separate shower with everything we needed! The breakfast was lovely, fantastic choice, quality produce and beautifully cooked, even a choice of home made bread! We would love to return, definitely a hidden gem, you will not be disappointed!

From the second we arrived to the second we left, we had a thoroughly wonderful time. The standard of cleanliness, quality of service and beautiful surroundings all made this one night get-away a trip to remember. Fantastic accommodation. 100% recommend to all. Would definitely stay again. First class choice of breakfast - extremely well cooked. Very comfortable night. Beautiful bed linen. Host and Hostess were so charming and welcoming. We felt really relaxed and spoilt. So many extra touches from fresh cold milk to make drinks in the room (rather than long life plastic capsules) to good quality biscuits and bottled water. No wonder this accommodation scores so high. You could not fault it. 🙌👏🏼👍😀

Where do I start? Beautiful cottage, friendly and attentive owners, comfortable room - and thats just for starters! Relaxed instantly upon arrival & fabulous views and so quiet! Gorgeous breakfast & freshly made bread (waking up to the smell of bread was an added bonus!!) Great selection of teabags/coffee & biscuits in room. Egyptian cotton sheets etc, luxury bathroom & complementary toiletries. Would not hestitate to come to Fernside again! (In fact, might just do that next year)

There aren’t enough superlatives to describe our all too brief stay with Linda and Ian. An outstanding room (Lynton) with a view over rolling meadows complete with cows, horses and pheasants. Plenty of space for our luggage, an extremely comfortable king size bed and a large warm bathroom meant that we were able to drift off into a perfect night’s sleep. The sun streaming through the windows next morning gave us the energy to descend the staircase to find Linda in the sun-drenched breakfast room ready to serve us our excellent breakfast. Perfection! We are looking forward to our next trip to Devon and another helping of heartfelt hospitality.

Wow what a place! The reviews speak for themselves. We had a lovely stay over Easter bank holiday and can safely say we didn’t want to leave. The attention to detail was wonderful, fresh home made bread every morning (I even got inspired and baked my own when I got home!) plus the view from the balcony in the lynton room will stay with me, it truly was heavenly. A wonderful couple who deserve all these lovely reviews and more! Hopefully we can return one day.

This is a stunning stay for comfort and service - Linda and Ian are the most welcoming of owners - highly recommended - this will be are first choice whenever we come up this way - if you can book a balcony room you will enjoy the early evening sunset and experience all of the animals around ..
