Lao Golden Hotel

Vientiane|2.13km from National Institute of Fine Arts
It’s quite an acceptable hotel. About 20 minute drive from the international airport. Pros: - Price is reasonable - 10 minutes walk to the embassy (great for visa runs) - I had to photocopy some documents and they did it for me at the lobby for free - Convenient stores and restaurants were accessible - Staff were good. They werent rude and when I tried to pay for an extra half day they tried their best to stay patient with me even though I was struggling to communicate with them due to currency exchange rates & language barriers - The rooms were decent. It seemed old but still good - Breakfast buffet was good. Had a selection of asian foods, Korean side dishes, tea, coffee, cereal, etc. Cons: - Housekeeping just comes in the room without even knocking.. which is invasion of privacy (and was really annoying). We tried to tell them to come back some other time but they didn’t get it. Neither was there any signage to put in our front door to tell housekeeping that we want to makeup our room or “do not disturb.” - Toilet wasn’t entirely dry when I first checked in. It was wet like someone just finished cleaning - Upon entering the room it was pretty clear they just didn’t bother to clean everything. You could see some dirt in the minibar and some webs on top walls. I do have some suggestion to improve the service. At least put the list of mini bar prices. I didn’t know until check-out. I didn’t even know what number to call the room service until I randomly dialed “0” and magically went to the reception. Btw room service number is 202 and either no one picks up or when they do, they don’t understand english. Not recommended for leisure. Just a decent hotel for visa runs.

Green Park Boutique Hotel

My family and I stayed here for our last 2 nights in Vientiane and we were not disappointed. Upon checking in we were greeted by refreshing cold drinks. The check in process was incredibly smooth. The hotel staff helped us move our bags to our two adjoining rooms. Our rooms overlooked the garden/pond and was extremely cozy. I only wished we had stayed longer. The pool was amazing! I found it rare to get deep pool that is swimmable in Laos and Thailand and this one did not disappoint! It was perfect. We were able to get poolside service too. We also dined at the restaurant and our dinner and drinks were great. It is hard to find nice cocktails in SEA outside of the major hotels and Green Park’s dry martini did not disappoint. My parents liked the hotel so much they even joined us the following night and rented their own room right next to ours. We had a fabulous time and will definitely be back to stay here since we have family in Laos. Thank you for your wonderful hospitality.

It's far away from city centre but with beautiful view of Mekong and free shuttle car to centre. Hotel is huge and rooms are spacious. Staff is kind and professional. Breakfast is not continental style... not even available a cappuccino or espresso coffee.
Grand Hotel Vientiane

After making a mistake with my hotel booking (booked one near the river but in Thailand, without a visa) and only discovering this upon arriving at Vientiane airport I decided to take a taxi to see the location of the Thai Embassy. I walked around the area near the Embassy for 5 minutes and came across a hotel that looked suitable for my stay. The Grand Hotel, Vientiane. The staff at the reception counter arranged a suitable room for me. It now seems that I walked into something amazing! I am not one to stay in a hotel unless I had to do so. I am a seasoned traveler who travels alone but occasionally with friends. Within this stay this hotel was hitting my requirements all of the time to being my ideal hotel! It is well designed with an Asian and Western decorative style. It has good sizeable rooms. The dining area is great and so is the hotel reception area to relax and feel comfortable. The small coffee shop in the reception area is an excellent facility to have with a good selection of food on offer for a reasonable price and good service. The staff at the hotel are to a high professional standard and always have a smile and a concern to your stay being an enjoyable one. Nearby to the hotel there are a variety of good restaurants and shops. The hotel is in a business and residential area that also caters well for the tourist. I would highly recommend this hotel whilst on business or holiday trip to Vientiane. I wish to thank the Mangement and staff for an excellent quality of service and making my one a pleasant and enjoyable. Well done! Philip Colvin - Stayed 27/10/22 - 30/10/22 and 01/11/22 - 04/11/22

Vientiane City Center
Within walking distance of Patuxay. A very clean hotel with super nice decor and a friendly staff to assist you. Breakfast was included, not much to write home about but it filled the void. The 5th floor had a wonderful view and a full length private balcony. I was there three nights and was very comfortable. I see many was there to go to the Thai embassy to update their visa. The Thai embassy around the corner from this hotel is the wrong one. The Thai consulate is about a 20 minute walk from this hotel. I would stay here again, it was nice. Also, they do have a shuttle to take you back to the airport.
Landmark Vientiane Life Center

Sadly a decline in service staff numbers with an increase in clientèle. It's lost its classy boutique feel as it has gone for the mass Chinese package tour overnight accommodation market. As a solo traveller staying a number of nights that means disrupted nights as late arrivals settle and early departures from 5am on. Breakfast hall crowded in peak periods. Breakfast is a bare minimal offering off massification of Asian food and token western food. I went to nearby cafes and restaurants to get an alternative decent nutritional breakfast... They demand a 1000 baht deposit cash on checkin rather demeaning. 2 lifts in a 22 storey complex is far from adequate the third lift reserved for staff only. Pool fabulous, although cooler time of the year not kept as clean as in summer months, the gym quite okay, not the most modern or premium gym equipment. The recent price rises of accommodation render it not good value anymore. Local staff very helpful and friendly despite being overworked. The location is central very good for city walks. Be aware that outside is the Vientiane center display area. I had 4 nights of a Calsburg beer pop band stage outside the hotel, with excessive bass reverberating through the entire building until near midnight and later on one night. I asked for and got a room change but the poor/virtually useles sound proofing did not help. The ”double glaze” does not keep out traffic noise even on the tenth floor nor deflect the heat from afternoon sun. ”Marble” type flooring ensure all corridor noise is carried uninterrupted to your room. People who appreciate their sleep be warned. The premises were kept clean a great effort from relentless dirtying from mass tour groups.
