AAnonymous UserChimelong Penguin Hotel, Zhuhai – A Parent-Child Utopia Straight Out of Frozen!
Bringing my little one to Chimelong Penguin Hotel in Zhuhai was an absolutely perfect experience, from the 'wow' moment upon entering to the 'don't want to leave' feeling when checking out! The hotel embraces the 'penguin theme' to its fullest. The giant emperor penguin sculpture and the icy dome in the lobby instantly transport you to an Antarctic wonderland from a fairy tale. Even the elevator decor features penguin footprints and ice crystal designs – a dream come true for anyone who loves details! At check-in, the front desk attendant not only gave my child exclusive penguin stickers but also proactively upgraded us to a room with a kids' tent. Inside, from the bedding printed with little penguins and cartoon slippers to the penguin-shaped toothbrush holder in the bathroom, even the bathrobes were embroidered with adorable penguin patterns. My child immediately rolled onto the bed, exclaiming, ”This is my ice castle!”
The dining experience was beyond amazing! The Emperor Penguin Buffet Restaurant is legendary – you can enjoy freshly grilled steak and fresh shrimp sashimi while watching emperor penguins swim through the floor-to-ceiling glass wall! Their flippers flapping as they glide through the water are incredibly cute. My child pressed against the glass, shouting ”Penguin daddy!” and even forgot to eat. At breakfast, there were clown performances and penguin mascot interactions; my child was beaming with joy the entire time. This 'eating with penguins' experience is absolutely the pinnacle of family travel!
The hotel's location is also super convenient, just a 5-minute walk directly to Ocean Kingdom, saving us the hassle of dragging the kids around. After a day of playing until our legs ached, my child could still play for half an hour in the kids' playground at the hotel before falling asleep, without any fuss. The only minor regret is that rooms are hard to get during peak season. I recommend booking at least two weeks in advance, especially the rooms with a penguin-viewing window – watching the stars and penguin silhouettes at night is super romantic!
Ocean Kingdom – An Ocean Carnival from Morning till Night, Every Frame a Piece of Joy!
Ocean Kingdom isn't just an 'amusement park'; it's a 'joy generator'! Upon entering, I was awestruck by the giant whale shark sculpture. Following the signs, it felt like stepping into a real-life Finding Nemo: In the Whale Shark Exhibit, thousands of fish, along with huge whale sharks, swam through the 360-degree surrounding aquarium overhead. The awe-inspiring feeling is something a phone can't capture; you have to see it in person! My child held my hand the entire time, shouting, ”Mom, look!” not daring to blink.
For thrilling rides, I have to give a shout-out to the Parrot Coaster! The moment you plunge from the highest point, the wind rushes past your ears, screams and laughter mix together, and adrenaline surges! The Ice Mountain Coaster next to it is even more incredible. As you pass through the indoor glacial tunnel, a cold wind blasts your face, and even the coaster tracks are covered in 'ice crystals.' That dual thrill of 'speed and cold' is addictive after just one ride! For parents with kids, don't worry, the park is super kid-friendly: the Undersea Interactive Boat allows children to touch starfish and sea cucumbers, and staff patiently explain marine knowledge; the Spinning Water Cups and Penguin Coaster are low-thrill versions, and my child had even more fun than I did!
The evening float parade was the highlight of the entire park! Dozens of floats passed by, some spraying colorful bubbles, others topped with giant octopus models. Performers in glowing costumes danced and even threw light-up bracelets to the kids. My child picked one up and chased a float for half a lap, returning with a flushed face and sparkling eyes, saying, ”It was better than cartoons!” The 8 PM fireworks show was absolutely spectacular – fireworks, lights, fountains, and drone formations all exploded together, painting the night sky in colors. The grand finale even spelled out ”CHIMELONG LOVES YOU.” The entire audience applauded, and even my usually stoic husband secretly wiped his eyes.
My only small suggestion: the park is huge, so I recommend buying a fast pass! We went on a weekend, and popular rides had 40-minute queues. If you want to experience all the attractions, you need at least 8 hours. Additionally, the marine-themed restaurants in the park have good food, but prices are a bit high. You can bring your own water and small snacks (sealed food is allowed in the park); the money saved can be better spent on a couple more souvenirs!
Conclusion: The 'Perfect Answer' for Family Travel, A Happy Planet Worth Revisiting!
This trip to Zhuhai Chimelong, from the attention to detail at the Penguin Hotel to the immersive experience at Ocean Kingdom, radiated 'thoughtfulness' everywhere: the hotel's child-friendly facilities made traveling with kids easy, the park's rides balanced excitement and education, and even the trash cans were penguin-shaped. This commitment to 'carrying the theme through to the end' is truly hard not to love! My child flips through photos every day since we got home, saying, ”I want to go to the penguin castle again next time,” and even my husband exclaimed, ”This is what real family travel is all about!”
If you also want to take your child on a 'stress-free mom' trip, or want to rediscover your long-lost childlike wonder, Chimelong Penguin Hotel + Ocean Kingdom in Zhuhai is definitely the top choice! I recommend planning a 2-day, 1-night itinerary: the first day staying at the hotel to experience the penguin theme, and the second day entering the park early to enjoy popular rides and watching the fireworks in the evening. This itinerary will surely send the whole family home 'smiling'!
