The room made a decent first impression and did the bare minimum. But, it quickly became clear that it’s best suited for a very short stay. The bed was comfortable enough. Overall, the room is fine if you’re just passing through, but anything longer starts to feel like stretching it.
Staff presence around the hotel was limited. They clearly run on a lean operation, which can go either way. The guard in front of the elevator stood out in the best possible way and added a genuinely warm, human touch, which helped balance things out.
At check-in, I was given two complimentary cocktail coupons for the upstairs bar, which immediately lifted my spirits. This was a place I had enjoyed many times before and often recommended to friends and family. I had good memories of the atmosphere, the food, and the general vibe, so I went in with high hopes. In the past I had written raving 5-star reviews of their restaurant food and amazing service!
Unfortunately, the experience that followed didn’t live up to those expectations. What should have been a simple, enjoyable night out unraveled into confusion and unwelcoming interactions. Small moments piled up, the mood shifted, and it became clear that the experience had gone off the rails. Rather than force it, my group and I decided to take our time and money elsewhere. Sometimes you read the room and move on.
I returned to the hotel later that night and stayed over. Took a hot shower in the morning, loved the smell of their body wash, btw!
Another brief interaction during checkout reinforced the same theme: rigid, abrupt, and lacking the kind of hospitality that makes guests feel welcome.
All in all, it’s disappointing to see a place I once enjoyed and freely recommended lose its consistency and warmth. I’m no longer comfortable recommending it, and I’m not sure I would choose to return.
As for the unused cocktail coupon, I still have it. Any takers?

I stayed for 2 nights, it didn't feel safe for me as a solo woman traveller. One the first night around 11pm there were 3-4 men shouting and laughing and knocked my door. I was scared and called the reception. The phone wire was not connected to the phone, i have to hold it tight to the phone while i was speaking. It was a terrifying experience. When in emergency even the phone wasn't working! the receptionist took 30 min to for the men to calm down. The next day morning the receptionist told me they men moved out. But i saw them in the evening in the hotel. Didn't feel safe. Again, the men, shouting and aloud. Still i couldn't sleep there, awake whole two nights i stayed there, didn't feel safe. The place was clean. Location was good.

Xiaoxiaodie㎡「D&H」The location is easy to find. The breakfast selection is rich, and the environment is lovely. If it's your first time traveling abroad, choosing this hotel will save you a lot of hassle and is highly trustworthy. The manager speaks a little Chinese, so even if your vocabulary isn't perfect, communication is still possible. There's a garden restaurant downstairs that serves all three meals. It's clean and hygienic. I had a wonderful few days; it was a memorable stay.

Hotel Yala Peak – A Cozy Gem in the Heart of Thamel
I recently stayed at Hotel Yala Peak during my visit to Kathmandu, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. Tucked away in a quiet alley in the bustling Thamel area, this hotel is the perfect balance between peace and convenience.
Rooms: The rooms are clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. Mine had a great view of the inner courtyard, and the bed was surprisingly soft. Hot water and good Wi-Fi were consistently available, which is a big plus!
Service: The staff here are truly outstanding. Friendly, professional, and always ready to help with a smile. Whether it was arranging airport pickups, tours, or just recommending places to eat, they went above and beyond.
Location: Ideal for tourists. You're minutes away from shops, restaurants, and trekking gear stores, but the hotel is just far enough from the main street to feel calm and relaxed.
Price: Great value for money. The rates are budget-friendly without compromising on comfort or cleanliness.
Extras: They also offer luggage storage for trekkers, which is super convenient, and the rooftop is a nice place to unwind.
Overall: Highly recommended for solo travelers, couples, and trekkers. If you're looking for a safe, clean, and affordable place in Kathmandu with genuine hospitality, Hotel Yala Peak is a fantastic choice.

Had a terrible experience at this hotel - booked it as a first stop in Kathmandu on arrival in Nepal, place to put my luggage while trekking and a last night before flying out of the country.
There is no provision for bag check - no tag given or the like. Asked if could leave / check my bag was told yes and to leave infront of front desk. Two weeks later when I returned to the hotel bag was still in the lobby infront of front desk. Things were missing of course - none of great enough value to argue, but the fact they couldn’t even be bothered to move the bag a few feet to a closet / holding space or the like is indicative of the way this place rolls.
Tried to book a shuttle for early morning to airport through hotel, listed as included service. Despite confirming and reconfirming, they arranged nothing. Instead at 5:15 AM it became a game of let’s make a deal and see how much we can charge while providing no evidence there was even a driver. In the end I gave up and carted my luggage to the street to get a taxi.
Nepal is a wonderful country - this hotel was a consistent bad experience. Rooms themselves are meh - didn’t try the free breakfast, on site restaurant was pretty good, atmosphere/ food. This isn’t a cheap hotel by local standards - for the price point there are much / many options in the area.

unakaiponGreat location! It's in an area with several hotels of a similar caliber, and perhaps due to the competition, the quality you get for the price is outstanding. I initially booked for one night and liked it so much I wanted to extend my stay, but unfortunately, there were no rooms available, so I had to move to a nearby hotel. However, the staff here were incredibly helpful and kind, even assisting with tour requests. I forgot to take photos of the hotel, but the restaurant immediately to the front left as you exit the hotel was excellent, so I've included a picture of that instead. I went there every single night!

Because I didn't catch the plane, I found a small hotel temporarily in the early morning.
facility:
Although the hotel is small, the hardware facilities are relatively good in Nepal, which is good.
There is air conditioning, hot water and card swipe door locks, which are advanced.
But there is no hair dryer either…
health:
I still saw the hair...
environment:
Room comfortable
Serve:
The breakfast provided is relatively simple (Picture 6 is the breakfast menu)
The service attitude of the staff at night is good, but the service attitude during the day is average.
In the evening, my friend in Kathmandu sent me to the hotel to pick up my luggage and take me to the airport. The hotel staff was even more hospitable.

Taracandra Yogin
Baudha Apart Hotel
The Air is much cleaner at these heights. A lovely view to be seen from the roof top upon the city down below. There is a room up there, for yoga, for exercise, or meditation. An elevator takes you there, but you can climb the stairs, if you wish, especially to prepare for a mountain trek – there is an ample storage room in that regard. Boudha Apart is owned by a Sherpa family, originally from Lukla, so there are many good contacts with the high mountain community.
The hotel is fairly new, and that means nothing is broken. That is to say also, that it is well maintained, that the guests are not a rowdy sort, and they are mindful of each other's tranquility. The rooms are well thought out, and many have a sun facing balcony. Both sink and shower have abundant hot water, adjustable as you like. On the ground floor is a large restaurant, with a diverse menu of local cuisine, and western comfort foods. The basement is a parking garage for cars and bikes. The staff is of good cheer, and supportive of your adventures and plans. They, most conveniently, pick up and deliver to the airport. There is also a car and driver for various tours, as you will.
And finally to say, the price to value is most fair, as one compares to other hotels in the region.
