5-Star Hotels in Yunnan, China

The hotel is well located and allowed us to make our way within 10 mins to the Kunming train station. However we find the bed too firm for us. Didn't have breakfast at the restaurant but staff accommodated our request to pack some food for our trip early morning out of Kunming. Napping street and old Kunming old street are worth a visit. We had walked from Wen Lin street through the Jade lake to the old street. I highly recommend this walk, lovely!

Kunming JEN Hotel and Shangri-La are housed in the same complex with lower floors (1-17F) being JEN. Shangri-La is located on 18F and above, but it is now undergoing renovation which should be ready by end 2025. The Tuodong Stadium (Exit D) subway station on line 3 is just outside the hotel, making travelling very convenient and easy. The rooms look refreshed and spacious with electric curtains control. A good feature is the cold/hot water dispenser machine in each room that provides unlimited drinking water supply at all times. The buffet breakfast is really fantastic, wish I could stay another day to indulge in it !! Front desk staff Hong Rui 洪瑞 was very helpful in assisting us about places to visit and restaurants to try out. Really appreciate her help to extend our check-out time as we had a late departure flight. Overall, this is one of the good hotels that I have stayed in the major cities of China. Will return to JEN when I visit Kunming again.

Location is best, right next to the Ancient town. Room is very spacious and breakfast was best, had a variety of options and most importantly delicious. Worth for staying. The hotel is very big so you need to take a golf car to your room. Walking will be little tired. Hotel is a bit old but still it’s very clean.

It was my first time traveling alone in China. I went to Dali in mid-January before the New Year. I picked this hotel online and wanted to try out a check-in hotel. I checked in on the same day and was not disappointed, but pleasantly surprised. I was carrying two large suitcases and many other bags. When I got off the car and saw the stairs, I was scared to death. It turned out that the hotel had set up a WeChat group for me in advance, and the hotel had asked the butler to wait for me at the stairs. Not to mention that I didn’t have to worry about carrying the heavy luggage by myself, there was someone to help me. On the way to check in, I saw that almost every guest was assigned a private butler, and it was one-on-one throughout the process. I didn’t have to worry about not finding anyone or waiting for a long time. When I checked in, the hotel upgraded my room! During the stay, photography service was included. The atmosphere captured by the photographer was very beautiful. It didn't feel like checking in, and it was very high-end. In the middle, I asked other staff to help take photos. Everyone was very friendly and took photos casually without being in a hurry. They always made me satisfied with the photos and gave me enough emotional value! Whether it is taken by the photographer or the employees, all photos can be produced. When I come back very late after playing, the hotel and the housekeeper will remind me of the curfew hours and safety issues. The security makes me feel at ease. I came back late, and the housekeeper also helped to leave goodnight sweet soup for me. He didn't just put it in the room when the time came. He made sure I would come back before giving it to me. The privacy was very good. I didn't expect that they would respect the privacy of guests so much! The hotel is not close to the sea, but you can still see the sea and the sunrise! The room is themed, and the one that I liked was the pink girl series. There's plenty of space inside, and there's a bathtub where you can take a bath while looking at the sea. The room is well soundproofed, so you won't be disturbed by noise from your neighbors at night. The bed is far from the door, so you won't be disturbed by people walking by and talking! The equipment and hygiene are good, 8.5/10. The disposable items are of high quality. The only thing is that the disposable slippers say ”do not take away” or ”do not drop off”. I'm not sure if they are disposable. After all, the hotel provides cotton disposable shoes. But they are still very clean! I left at 7 am the next day, and the housekeeper reminded me and confirmed the taxi service early. Since I was traveling alone, they inadvertently helped me share a lot of arrangements and worries! The butler had already prepared himself and also helped to carry the luggage into the car. It’s completely point-to-point service! If I had known I would have stayed one more day, the experience would have been really good👍

The room was far smaller than expected with a very petite though functional bathroom (without any natural light). The two single beds were small and difficult to sleep in. The air conditioning was old and quite poor. It was difficult to bring the temperature down at night. There was one tiny wardrobe that could not hold much clothing at all. There was no tea, coffee or other benefits of an alleged 5 star hotel. The following day, the cleaners (who were fantastic and very nice) brought us a few biscuits and a plate with a few fruit items on it. Two bottles of water were provided each day. The breakfast had a good selection of possible dishes though the staff did not refill regularly so many items became unavailable during breakfast. The dishes were very Chinese orientated, which was not a problem given that we were the only foreigners in the hotel. The reception staff were excellent, very helpful and supportive.

Generally no bidets in toilets in China. No halal food in hotel. But just 20mins walk along Nanping Pedestrian street you can find halal food at the muslim community near Shuncheng street. Theres also an acient mosque called Shuncheng Mosque. PreBook trip.com airport transfer at 50sgd. Big 6 seater mpv. Driver assigned was professional and very punctual. Hassle free and highly recomend.

Walking distance to green lake. Hotel reception provides baguette for free so that you can use it to feed the seagulls at green lake. Staff is very accommodating and friendly as well. They helped me to receive my taobao parcels and recommended places that I can visit, not just in kunming but for my next leg in dali as well. Super clean and spacious room. Love it.

Grand Hyatt is strategically located in Kunming city, it has an underground access to metro and a walk link to shopping mall. The room is spacious and toilet is well designed. In-house movies and tv channels are plenty to choose. The hotel’s facilities such as indoor pool, gym and steam room are clean and usable. Price is a bit high, as our room does not cover breakfast. Suggestion:- - provide some Chinese tea bag - if room was booked with kids, pre-prepared extra towel and toiletries will leave a personalised impression to hotel guests - liaison with shopping mall not to close the gateway to hotel access link too early when the mall is closing at the end of day, otherwise hotel shoppers have to walk around big round the building to return.

Also special mention to Luffy and his colleagues who sorted out our WiFi connectivity issues even after his working hours. Facilities like the gym, indoor swimming pool were great, as you would expect from a Sofitel. All in our family enjoyed our stay very much.

My tip to other Travellers who are looking for a luxury experience, please don’t go for the up and coming avant garde room designs that seem to be popular in Lijiang. Pros: 1. Economies of scale, rooms are of a high standard. Heating, air-conditioning all work fine. You’ll realize it’s a problem with the boutique hotels who are at the same price point 2. Breakfast begins at 6:30am - great for when you want to start your day early. 3. They had beautiful black swans and offer free activities like kayaking alongside them. Cons: 1. The boutique hotels has personalized services compared to large hotels. However, it’s not important for me.

Great location near the city centre. The staff are very helpful with queries. The gym is quite small but for a hotel gym is better than many others since it has a pool as well. Considering it's a 5 star hotel it does feel a little old but the rooms are spacious and is very clean. Would recommend.

Totally recommend staying here. Luxurious hotel, clean and close to Lijiang ancient city. Lots of variety to select from for breakfast. The reception staff is very friendly and helpful… anything extra we needed was provided to us without fail. Enjoyed the robot delivering our welcome snacks . Will definitely recommend others to book here and enjoy the facilities. The gym also has a beautiful picturesque view of the mountains. Would definitely come back here again in future and refer friends to come as well.

Recently stayed at Pullman Lijiang Resort & Spa, and it was a wonderful experience. The location is unbeatable, with breathtaking views of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, especially from the villa courtyards. The mix of traditional Naxi architecture and modern amenities gives the resort a unique charm. The villa I stayed in was spacious, clean, and beautifully designed, with a private outdoor soaking tub that made the stay even more relaxing. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, and the large windows let in plenty of natural light.

Hotel is as per advertised, amazing clean, hospitable, and tranquil. Amenities were complete and the rooms were big and cozy. Location wise, its en route to the Jade Dragon scenic spot and about half a kilometer to the Shunhe Old Town. Breakfast was nice but not comparable to the ones you get in Bali or Phuket. Spa service is also slightly above average - I feel the techniques in the south east asia hotels of similar rankings are better positioned/trained. Overall still a good stay and highly recommend it even on a high price point.

The overall experience of this resort hotel is excellent! The moment I got off the car and entered the hotel lobby, I knew I was in the right place. The hotel has all the facilities, the rooms are spacious and bright, the decoration style is modern and comfortable, the bedding is clean and soft, you can see the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain in the room, and you don’t have to go out in the morning to lie in bed to enjoy the sunrise on the Golden Mountain, which is really amazing. It is particularly worth mentioning that the hotel’s restaurant is not only elegant, but also rich in food. Whether it is the rich choice of breakfast or the special dishes of dinner, it is impressive. It is worth mentioning that the restaurant staff’s excellent service, they always appear in time when you need it and provide you with help. I especially praise the help of the restaurant waiter Zhang Xingfa, who answered some of my questions for me. Wyndham Resort Lijiang is impeccable in terms of environment, facilities, services and catering. It is the only choice for leisure and vacation in Lijiang. It is highly recommended to friends who are looking for high-quality resort hotels!

Highly recommended hotel if you want to be in the ancient city and not too far away from the main road. Personalised butler service with 小勇 was great! WeChat group was set up before arrival and he helped with arranging the free transport from Lijiang train station to 南门1号 where he is there with trolley to help us with the luggages as the road in the ancient city is bumpy. Super grateful for great service where he went above and beyond working hours to fix up our needs and also introduce scenic routes within the ancient city and recommending restaurants and shopping tips around. He also helped to book our tickets to 玉龙雪山 and 丽江千古情 show. We all loved the animal interaction at the hotel. Hotel has a 1 year plus samoey mixed golden dog name xixi which is friendly and playful. 2 alpacas, brown one is male and white one is female who is more shy. 2 rabbits and 2 peacocks. There are washing machines and dryer for ur laundry needs too. 2 game station. Gym. Library. Pool table. Tea houses. KTV room was good! Tea break and breakfast was also nice. The flat white was legit.

Big shoutout to 小钟 for the great service! Check in was really smooth and seamless. Touched down at 12pm-ish and he was kind to allow us to check in early. Room was clean and bathtub was huge! Really love the lunch at the international restaurant. Do try their 小锅米线。 however this hotel is not located near the 古镇。It takes around 20 mins to head to the 古镇， but it is convenient with didi.

The welcome fruit plate is so healthy and delicious . We were surprised by the spectacular view of YuLong Snow Mountain right in front of the room. The room is so spacious that we laid down two large and one small luggage without any movement issue. Also not to mention about interior design is so cosy and comfortable. Instant hot water during shower, sufficient number of power socket, smart toilet bowl and self service free laundry machines were available for our need. This hotel also serve healthy, balance diet and Yunan caffe for breakfast. We thank you to front desk manager, Miss Xiao for her best efforts and arrangements. This is the best hotel in Lijiang that we stay so far. I strongly recommend to visitor that plan to have a short stay in Lijiang and wanted to go other places in the next morning.

Our experience at Pullman Dali was a mix of highs and lows, with some exceptional staff and several areas that fell short of expectations for an Accor hotel. The Good: We were fortunate to receive excellent service from Ms. Eleven and Mr. Herman, who went above and beyond to ensure we had a comfortable stay. Their kindness and attentiveness, especially when our child fell sick during the stay, were truly commendable. They provided all the assistance we needed, making a challenging situation much more manageable. Additionally, the café staff member, Mona, stood out for her patience and friendly attitude. The Not-So-Good: Unfortunately, the overall experience did not meet the standards we expect from an Accor hotel. Communication was a significant challenge, as many of the local staff struggled with English, making it difficult to get basic information or assistance. The hotel seems to cater primarily to local Chinese guests, which greatly influenced the atmosphere. The breakfast area was chaotic and crowded, and the variety and taste of the food left much to be desired. While Mona was polite and helpful, other staff displayed a dismissive and arrogant attitude. For instance, when we inquired about some of the local breakfast items, the response was abrupt and unwelcoming, as if they didn’t care whether we ate or not. Additionally, breakfast ended strictly at 10:30 AM. While I was still taking food from the buffet, the staff turned off the lights and removed the trays right in front of me without any warning. It felt extremely inconsiderate and left a poor impression. Other Observations: The location of the hotel is convenient, and the rooms are decent. However, the overall experience may be more suited to local Chinese guests rather than international travelers expecting global standards of service and hospitality. Final Thoughts: While there were shining moments thanks to a few outstanding staff members, the overall experience at Pullman Dali did not live up to the reputation of the Accor brand. If you are an international guest seeking a more service-oriented stay, you might want to consider other options.

I had enjoyed my stay at Dali Ancient Luchun Hotel extremely much due to the excellent service. They really weren’t lying about the Haidilao-style service.  Their front desk personnel manning the Wechat (慕雅) was extremely responsive and helpful when it came to my requests. The lobby staff were also very helpful in delivering stuff to my room and when I was carrying luggages, they ran forward and assisted me immediately.  The services at this hotel were also unique and special: warm milk delivery daily (so that you can sleep) and free pick-up to and from the Ancient City and also to the airport/railway.  Nearby (10 minutes walk) there is also street food that tastes amazing and is value for money.  Overall, I would recommend this stay to anyone who is looking for stellar service and helpful staff and I would definitely stay at this hotel again if I had the chance to visit Dali.  我非常喜欢入住大理麓椿花园酒店，他们提供的优质服务真的名不虚传，确实有海底捞式服务的水准。 前台负责微信客服的慕雅对我的各种需求都非常响应和耐心解答。大堂的工作人员也很热情周到，每次送东西到房间时都很及时，当我提着行李时，他们还会主动上前帮忙。 酒店的服务也非常独特和贴心：每天送热牛奶（助眠），还提供免费接送服务，不仅接送古城，还可以送到机场或高铁站。 附近也有步行十分钟可达的街头美食，味道很棒，性价比也很高。 总之，我会推荐这家酒店给任何想要体验优质服务和热心员工的客人。如果有机会再次来到大理，我一定会选择再次入住这家酒店！

We recently stayed at a hotel right outside the 南门of the Ancient City, and its location couldn't have been more convenient. Given how jammed Dali can get, walking was the best option, and this hotel’s location made it incredibly easy to explore the area on foot. The staff here is simply the best I’ve ever encountered. I had many parcels delivered to the hotel before my arrival, and they not only managed all of them seamlessly but also offered to send out additional parcels on my behalf. Despite the hotel being fully booked, they attended to our requests promptly and always with a smile. Their dedication to going above and beyond was truly impressive. The staff also provided excellent recommendations for food and activities nearby, making our stay even more enjoyable. The breakfast was fantastic, and the views of 苍山 were amazing. We had a wonderful stay, and we will definitely be back!

Honglongjing Hotel is a treasure hotel with excellent service. The waiter came to pick us up at the parking lot and arranged a relatively large room for us. In particular, there is a rooftop garden overlooking the ancient city of Dali. It is convenient to go to nearby attractions. It is very clean and has racks for drying clothes. The breakfast is not bad. There is a water bar with resident singers at night. Recommended to everyone.

The hotel’s service is excellent, providing lots of care and attention. Especially the butler “青柠,” who took very good care of us, ensured our stay was comfortable, and frequently checked on us. She also provided recommendations for places to visit and responded quickly when needed. Even when we were out of the room, she delivered tea break snacks and desserts. Very good location 5 minutes walk to main area. Very good service by housekeeper xiao hao. Hotel is comfortable and clean. Breakfast, tea time and night dessert is great. Very easy accessible. We enjoyed our time here. They have transport service to pick you up at the main road and also sending you to nearby places. Highly recommended.

Room was even better than it looks in the picture. Service of staff was also very good. They even helped to collect my parcel of the parcel collection station before I arrive and was super responsive to all my queries. Was assigned to the highest floor but hotel has no lift and staff helped to carry our luggages up the stairs. Afternoon tea was until 5pm but I arrived later and was still able to enjoy the delicious afternoon tea set. The room was impeccably clean and spacious. There is also a balcony which had a clear view of erhai lake and we can enjoy the sunset just right in the room. We also received flower cake as a gift after check out. Would not hesitate to book the hotel again if we are in Dali again.
