5-Star Hotels in Kedah, Malaysia

Stunning resort – but a few fixes would make it perfect --- I stayed at the Berjaya Hotel for 3 nights and ended up extending my stay – that alone says everything about how much I loved this place. It truly deserves its 5-star reputation. The positives: · The private beach is absolutely gorgeous. · The pool is large, pleasant, and very well maintained – crystal clean. · We stayed in a chalet facing the sea, and it was simply wonderful – waking up to that view every morning was unforgettable. · The international breakfast buffet is rich and generous. · The staff throughout the hotel are helpful and welcoming. · The 24-hour buggy service is a great idea for getting around the resort. · The SkyCab is nearby, with a free shuttle to the station (one-way). · Plenty of restaurants to choose from, live jazz every evening for 1–2 hours, and an amazing fire show on the beach every Friday and Saturday. Now, a few areas that need attention: --- 🔴 1. Inappropriate swimwear in the pool I was shocked to see several guests swimming in regular clothes and T-shirts – not proper swimwear. Worse, I witnessed a guest actually scrubbing his T-shirt inside the pool to clean it. This is unhygienic and can pollute the water. 👉 There should be a clear rule requiring proper swimwear, and staff should enforce it. A simple sign at the entrance would help. --- 🔴 2. Buggy service issue – broken promise The resort offers a buggy shuttle to the SkyCab station, but the return is not officially provided. However, we were told by a driver that a buggy would drop off a group at 4 PM and that we could return with it. Since we were a family of 4 and there was no space left, he promised to come back for us. He never did. We waited in vain under the scorching heat, with a child, and eventually had to walk back uphill – which was exhausting and uncomfortable. 👉 If the return service is not guaranteed, just say so clearly. Don't make promises you can't keep. This was very disappointing. --- 🔴 3. Dessert variety Both at breakfast and dinner, the dessert options were quite limited and lacked creativity. A bit more variety would elevate the dining experience. --- Final word: Despite these issues, my overall stay was wonderful. The resort is beautiful, the setting is magical, and I would still recommend it – but I truly hope management listens to this feedback, especially regarding pool rules and the buggy service. We came for 3 nights and stayed longer – that says a lot. With a few adjustments, this place would be absolutely perfect.

Had the chance to stay at the Park Royal during our trips. It was worth it. They stay was very good and worth. The Hotel services, cleanliness, amenities was good. The location wise it was near to the cenang area by walking distance. The hotel also has a private beach area so it was not overwhelm with crowds. We enjoyed our our stay in this hotel and enjoy the food as well. The breakfast and dinner was good that we cannot stop eating during our stay. Will definitely come back again in the future for another stay.

Summary - Great apartment for families, decent location, but had a rough first half of the stay (construction noise, power trips, AC issue, breakfast/restaurant stock shortages, spa gripes). Guest relations sorted it out properly and the second half was excellent. Solid 4-star, not 5. We spent 8 nights here with our three kids (11, 7, and 6 months), and overall it was a good trip — but not without some hiccups. First, the good stuff: the apartment was brilliant. Really modern, loads of space, perfect for a family our size. The pool was a great depth for the little ones to splash about, the gym being open 24 hours was handy for early workouts, and the location's a good one. Staff were friendly throughout too. Now the not-so-good bits, which mostly hit us in the first 4 days: There's a big building going up literally 30 metres from the hotel, and it completely blocked our sea view. Worse, the construction noise ran from about 8am to 6pm every day — weekends included, so no escaping it. We also had the electricity trip in our apartment twice, and the aircon in the main room packed in for about an hour at one point. Breakfast was hit and miss — quite a few things out of stock, especially on day one. Then one evening at the restaurant, we went to order wine and two of the bottles we wanted weren't available either. Small thing, but combined with everything else it added up. Over at the spa, one of the treatment rooms had a broken speaker that crackled the whole time — not exactly relaxing. They'd also advertised a 30% discount without mentioning it only applies to treatments between 10am-noon, which felt a bit misleading. By day 4 we'd had enough of the issues piling up and asked about a partial refund, half-thinking about moving hotels for the rest of the trip. We dealt with Nur Farah Ain Jamrin, the guest relations manager. To be honest, our concerns weren't taken quite as seriously as we'd have liked at first — but to her credit, she and the team then went and properly sorted things out. I won't go into what exactly was offered since I think every situation's different and should be judged on its own merits, but the effort was clearly there, and it completely turned things around. The rest of the stay was genuinely excellent. So overall — lovely apartment, good facilities, friendly staff, but a bumpy start with maintenance and stock issues that a 5-star hotel really shouldn't have. The recovery was handled well though. I'd call it a solid 4-star.

Objective review: Pros: Most hotel staff were warm, friendly, and enthusiastic. The location boasts beautiful scenery, with wildlife nearby, and it's very close to the jetty. There are also many dining options in Kuah Town. The spa was excellent, though a bit pricey! Cons: The hotel's facilities are outdated, and cleanliness was just average. The toilet had a slight odor, and the sheets had stains, which I later asked staff to replace. The biggest issue is the soundproofing. If you're easily stressed or a light sleeper, seriously consider my advice and avoid this hotel. Perhaps I was unlucky, but for four nights, a Middle Eastern family with two crying children stayed across from us, and their wailing continued past midnight. It was truly frustrating. Thankfully, the platform provided timely feedback and intervention, and the hotel manager offered some gifts and earplugs, but there were still several difficult hours at night. I think a better solution would have been to help us move to a more suitable room, but the manager refused, stating that twin rooms were fully booked. This is definitely incomparable to hotels with excellent service awareness in China. Another major pitfall: The seafood at the hotel's restaurant, Tide, was not fresh and very expensive. Definitely avoid it; don't take my word for it, go try it yourself. My daughter had diarrhea that night, and the hotel later offered some discount compensation. Communicating with foreigners is exhausting, so I won't dwell on it. Finally, since this was a family trip, we focused more on the happy moments. Despite the imperfections, let's just think less about them~ I wish everyone gets to see the beautiful natural scenery of Langkawi.

Even though it was the rainy season, our overall experience was fantastic. First off, the service was excellent; every aspect was handled exceptionally well, and the staff's attitude was great. I'd always wanted to stay in a cabin, and I had no issues with dampness whatsoever. We were in Building 4, and we could still see some sea views – it was really good value for money. Initially, we were given a room quite far on the side, but after we requested a change, they moved us the very next day. For breakfast, there's an Asian restaurant and a Western restaurant. The Western restaurant overlooks the sea and even offers sparkling wine. The hotel beach isn't as bad as some reviews suggest; the sand is quite fine, and it's clearly separated from the public beach. The hotel's location is convenient, about 20 minutes from the airport, and there are plenty of dining options nearby. Overall, it offered excellent value during the rainy season. Highly recommend!

This hotel is nestled on a tranquil white sand beach, boasting expansive grounds and an all-villa layout. The environment is absolutely stunning, like being in a forest. The ecology is fantastic, with squirrels and birds visible everywhere. The rooms are spacious, and the overall resort experience was excellent. The sunsets from the beach are breathtaking. While there are 5 restaurants, the food quality is only average, not as good as Danna. Service can be a bit slow to respond, but overall it's still good.

Love the services! The breakfast was amazing, there are lots of choices. And they also park the car for you. They also helped with carrying your luggage from the car to the room. The room is also spacious and clean! It had a comfortable table to work. You can even request for a memory foam pillow which is very comfortable. Overall, I really enjoyed the hospitality of the hotel.

Let's start with the conclusion: Overall, it was great 👍 and I'd consider going back! Pros: 😀 1. The service was absolutely perfect! I visited all the restaurants, the pool, the kids' club, the shops – all public facilities – and the staff were incredibly dedicated. They tried their best to meet any request, and they asked very detailed questions, especially when interacting with children, who they were super friendly to! I only encountered three staff members who spoke Chinese: the chef and a server at the Chinese restaurant, and a lady at the kids' club! 2. Even though it was a bit muggy, I surprisingly didn't get a single mosquito bite! Not one mosquito bump on our family of three! I brought so much mosquito repellent, but it was all for nothing! 3. Many European and North American families stay at this hotel, so the food has been adapted a bit, especially the Chinese food, haha! But the quality is still okay! The Chinese breakfast at Haiyan Restaurant is better than their dinner! Cons: 😡 1. We stayed on the first floor in Area 6, and one night the equipment noise was incredibly loud – ridiculously loud! I really wanted to call and complain at the time, but it was the middle of the night and my child was fast asleep, so I let it go. Everyone should definitely avoid that area! 2. On the first day, we left a tip on the nightstand, and they even coiled my phone charger neatly, and arranged the paper airplanes my child made in a row. The tidying was incredibly meticulous, the most detailed and best I've ever experienced in a luxury hotel! But on the second day! We didn't leave a tip, and lo and behold, a bunch of shower hair in the shower caddy wasn't cleaned up, which I didn't expect! Do they really differentiate service that much?

The hotel is new, all the furniture and decor are modern, and the lobby and corridors are spacious. The grounds are a particular delight: they're flat, not hilly, and all the restaurants, areas, and pools are within walking distance. No need for buggies. The restaurants offer excellent cuisine, and breakfast is delicious – even Europeans will find something to their taste. We also opted for dinner and absolutely loved the Italian restaurant. One evening, we ventured out to a nearby restaurant on the water and deeply regretted it; we should have just stayed at the hotel's restaurant. They approach issues responsibly, but aren't always able to resolve things due to a lack of flexibility. However, one lady at the reception was exceptionally warm and helped us with our problem. The only thing that bothered us was a beeping sound in the room, which turned out to be a motion sensor (some kind of special fire safety technology). It doesn't beep at night when there's no movement, but during the day when the room was quiet, it was a bit annoying. For those who aren't fixated on small things, it won't be an issue.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A very pleasant stay! I had a really enjoyable experience staying at this hotel. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable, and everything was well maintained. The bed was especially comfortable, making it easy to get a good night’s sleep after a long day. The staff were also very friendly, helpful and professional throughout my stay. Check-in and check-out were smooth and hassle-free. I also really enjoyed the breakfast — there was a good variety of food and everything tasted great. The location was convenient as well, with many places nearby. Overall, the hotel offered great service, comfort and value for money. Definitely a place I would recommend, and I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again. ❤️
