I didn't like the bathroom design; the shower door would hit the bathmat when opening and closing, which was quite impractical. Everything else was fine, and breakfast was decent. The young man who checked me in at the front desk was very nice, but later when I went to retrieve my luggage late at night, another staff member was quite cold. Thanks to the staff member who helped me with both check-in and check-out, I appreciate it.

Really enjoyed our stay here. Location is great, there’s a 24h mart next door, 15mins from the airport, 8mins away from tanjung aru beach. The front desk is very friendly and are always willing to help out when we had any issue.

Dear Management of Grandis Hotel Kota Kinabalu, I am writing to express my sincere gratitude to the duty manager and the bellman during our stay. My son injured his foot and could not walk easily. The duty manager Tracy J kindly helped us change to a suitable room, and the bellman warmly assisted and escorted my son into the room with great care. Your team thoughtful and compassionate service relieved our stress at that difficult moment and made us feel safe and welcomed. We truly appreciate your professionalism and kindness. Thank you again!!

Nice and good hotel to stay. Location is superb. Within town area and accessable to Jesselton pier and Phillipino Market (tourist attraction). I believe hotel room is newly renovated, that make the room look newer.

The room's location is pretty good. It's quiet and only a 10-minute walk to the beach. There's also a pool on the rooftop, and it's self-check-in. You can store your luggage at the security booth downstairs for 6-10 Malaysian Ringgit. It's a bit far from the city center, but there's not much to do there anyway, just eat and browse. The main reason to go to Kota Kinabalu is for the sea.

Waiting for the boat at the pier, the staff member was really nice. He brought us chairs to sit on and even offered us water. Although I didn't catch his name, I really want to thank him! Upon arrival, the front desk was already there to greet us. Honestly, if your English isn't great, communication on the island can be a bit challenging, for instance, regarding the shower water, Wi-Fi, or power outages. They explained everything in great detail, and the next day, they even followed up to ask about the hot water – they truly care about guest satisfaction. Oh, and they upgraded us to a high-floor villa! We encountered two geckos and a small snake in the room, but the kids weren't scared at all because they knew they were harmless creatures. A super-sized cockroach crawled out of the drain in the bathroom, haha, my child watched it for ages. To be honest, considering it's in the mountains, maintaining it to this standard is quite impressive. It was a great experience, far from the city's hustle and bustle, allowing us to enjoy the charm of the ocean and the forest. We stayed in a high-floor villa and ordered room service for dinner. The delivery staff worked so hard, carrying the trays all the way to our room, and the food was still surprisingly hot, which really touched us. We gave them a small tip as a token of our appreciation for their efforts.

Stayed at The Sigar Sutera Bay and had a really pleasant experience overall. Cleanliness: 5/5 – The room and common areas were very clean and well maintained throughout my stay. Location: Quite strategic. It’s conveniently located near popular spots like Aru Beach, Suria Sabah, Jesselton, as well as malls such as Servay Penampang and Emart Lintas, making it easy to get around. Service: The reception team was very helpful and responsive whenever I needed assistance or requested items. Amenities: Good facilities provided. The swimming pool was spacious and clean, which made it enjoyable to relax and unwind. Overall, a comfortable stay and worth considering if you’re visiting the area.

This isn't a resort, but rather an excellent transit hotel for your first night. The quality is top-tier: it is brand-new, impeccably clean, fully automated, and staffed by incredibly friendly people. > Location:Not on the beach, but in the airport's Arab quarter. There is a 24/7 supermarket nearby, though no renowned restaurants. > Recommendation:If you land in the evening, save your money by staying here first to rest before heading to your resort the next day. > 这家不是传统度假酒店,而是极佳的中转站。酒店品质顶尖,设施崭新、全智能化且卫生极佳,员工也非常友善。 > 位置:不在海滩边,位于机场附近的阿拉伯区。周边有24小时超市,但无知名餐厅。 > *建议:若您傍晚落地,无需将钱浪费在度假酒店上,推荐先住在这里休整一晚,次日再前往度假。

The location is pretty good, right at the northernmost end of Gaya Street, next to the Hyatt, Suria Sabah, and the Atkinson Clock Tower. There's a rooftop pool with four lounge chairs and a small bar. The room was a bit small with an inward-facing window, so it was just okay. I didn't dare drink the tap water. It's suitable for a one-night layover when you first arrive, but a resort is definitely more comfortable for a relaxing vacation.

GGuest UserA pleasant experience staying at this hotel. The room was clean and spacious as we stayed in a Deluxe King room. The receptionist, Gloria, was very polite and attentive in assisting us. The breakfast was extremely satisfying. And the best part was the hotel’s swimming pool. I will definitely come back and stay here again.

CChengyueThe experience at Semporna Sky Water Villas exceeded all expectations! My friend and I stayed in the Starlight Villa for two days, and it was truly beyond what we imagined. As soon as we arrived on the island, we were stunned by the scenery: the crystal-clear glass-like sea shimmered with various shades of blue and green under the sun. The wooden boardwalk, flanked by lush greenery, blended beautifully with the seascape – every photo we took looked like a postcard. The view from the Starlight Villa was simply incredible, with our balcony directly facing the ocean. In the evenings, we watched the orange and pink sunset paint the sea like a masterpiece, and at night, we could lie on the terrace and gaze at the Milky Way and countless stars. It was so romantic, we were speechless. The room facilities were clean and thoughtful; the wooden floors and furniture had a subtle oceanic scent, and both the shower water temperature and bedding comfort were perfect. The staff's service was truly top-notch, from their warm welcome upon arrival to actively recommending local specialties during meals, and even thoughtfully reminding us of the best time to catch the sunset. Every detail reflected their warmth. Whether it was a morning stroll on the boardwalk listening to the waves or relaxing on the terrace in the afternoon breeze, it allowed us to completely unwind. Half of the beautiful memories from this trip came from Semporna's sea, and the other half from this perfect water villa. We're already planning our next visit!

NNero0919Perfect Getaway! This hotel on Mantanani Island, Kota Kinabalu, is an absolute gem! It's simply divine! I specifically came to Kota Kinabalu for Mantanani Island's crystal-clear waters, and I chose the Mantanani Hotel in advance. After staying there, I just had to give it five stars! The location is absolutely stunning. Step out, and you're on a soft, white sand beach. Open the balcony door, and you're greeted by the jelly-blue ocean. Waking up to the sound of waves every day was incredibly therapeutic. We booked a sea-view room; it was clean and spacious, the mattress had just the right firmness, and the shower water pressure was perfectly stable. There was no cramped feeling, which can often be the case with island hotels. I have to praise the service! The front desk staff were incredibly enthusiastic. They pre-arranged our island transfers and even proactively recommended snorkeling spots and delicious local snacks. They were always responsive and efficient. The hotel breakfast was also a pleasant surprise – freshly baked waffles with fresh mango, and freshly made Teh Tarik. The taste was absolutely spot on. In the afternoon, I relaxed on a hotel beach chair, enjoying the sea breeze, and in the evening, I had a barbecue at the hotel restaurant under the stars. The pace was wonderfully slow and comfortable – exactly the island vacation vibe I was looking for. If you're coming to Mantanani Island, I honestly recommend staying here. The experience is so much better than a day trip. I'll definitely stay here again on my next visit to Kota Kinabalu! Are you planning a trip to Mantanani Island soon? Would you like me to write another short review in a different style, suitable for social media?

GGuest UserOverall, our stay was very good – actually, better than expected! We had a lovely balcony with a nice view. The pool itself was nice – perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring. The apartment was clean and had everything we needed. Staff was helpful. After we checked out, we accidentally left some clothes in the washing machine, and they kindly recovered them for us. That kind of thoughtful service makes all the difference! Downstairs, there are plenty of food options, so you’ll never go hungry. I’d definitely recommend this place for couples or small families looking for a comfortable, well-located base. Great value for money.

JJoe Lim HmNice location with a lot food nearby. There is a convenience store at the ground floor with spa outlet and orher fodo options. There is a nice lounge at level 6 for guest to rest and enjoy the nice pool and view. Hotel staff are friendly. Only nit pick is that the aircon unit was slightly noisy

YYury DolgorukiyThe location is great, just 50 meters from the sea. The rooms are a bit dated but still decent. Housekeeping is supposed to be daily, but we were asked every day if we wanted it. The sandy beach isn't cleaned very often. We were told it's no longer a hotel, but a 'homestay' or 'Airbnb' concept, though this isn't mentioned on booking sites. Apparently, Nexus is responsible for the beach and pools. What was once a single entity has split into several companies, with BBVS and SBVS being the main fund holders. We'd only stayed at SBVS before, and the rooms and service are pretty much on par. They provide filtered water in reusable bottles; SBVS has cut this expense entirely. COVID has really hit these hotels hard. This time, the pool near the left-side rooms was cleaned but not drained, so the water was a bit murky. The pool on the right side was perfectly clear. There are tiny midges on the shore whose bites leave red, incredibly itchy marks for up to two weeks – a real 'truth serum'! Without a car, a vacation here is pretty much pointless (though they're easy to rent at the airport). On weekends, the hotel, especially the villas, fills up with locals who don't swim in the sea. All in all, there are many pros and cons, which explains the high rating.

AAnonymous UserWe booked a renovated room, supposedly from 2 years ago, but when we arrived at 6 PM, they told us there were no rooms on the second floor, only on the first. They assured us it was the 'best room,' but as soon as we entered, there was a strong musty smell, and the hairdryer sounded like it was about to explode. After watching the sunset and having dinner, we returned to find the room getting hotter and hotter. We then realized the air conditioning was broken. It took three calls to finally get through to the front desk. The maintenance worker spent half an hour trying to fix it with no progress, and then told us we'd have to switch rooms. During all this, the room was incredibly stuffy and hot, almost unbearable. The front desk kept apologizing but only offered an extended checkout or a ride to the city the next day, and we had to decide on the spot what time we wanted to leave. This 'sorry' attitude was really disappointing and quite unbelievable. The funniest part was that the room they moved us to was on the second floor – the very floor they said had no availability earlier. It was clean, no musty smell, and not hot at all. It makes you wonder who they were saving those rooms for, or if they were discriminating against us. The hotel environment itself is beautiful and very photogenic, with lots of free and paid activities. Feeding the monitor lizards was fun. However, the front desk's attitude and their handling of issues were consistently poor. Exercise caution if you decide to stay here. Also, we heard the hotel restaurants aren't great. We ate at the sunset bar, which was enough to fill us up, but you can't order takeout.
