Samala Hotel Bangkok

Sukhumvit Bangkok|0.39km from O’ganic Concept
This hotel is brand-new, and has immense potential. It's a shame that I have to write this negative review, but I'm hoping it can spur the hotel to do much better in several areas. We discovered this newly built hotel from a local friend and decided to book four nights during the festive season. Upon arrival, the check-in process took much longer than expected. This was in-part due to the poor command of English by most of the staff. We were assigned a room in Tower A and Tower B. Tower A rooms are much more convenient as the pool and gym are located on the same tower. The rooms itself were great, but there were many small issues which hampered the experience during our stay. For example, the shower drain drains water very slowly, resulting in an overflow everytime you take a shower. The water pressure itself was decent but they need to solve the drainage issues, because we had several different rooms during our stay and every room had the same problem. Other than that, the rooms were great. The power points have USB-A and USB-C inlets, so you don't need an adapter when staying at this hotel, a very thoughtful point. Next, the breakfast buffet was decent. Bangkok hotels are famous for their excellent breakfast buffets. I have stayed in countless hotels in Bangkok, and the benchmark continues to be Centara Grand at CentralWorld for breakfast. Samala's breakfast buffet had a variety of options. The great thing is that the dishes are different every day, so you'll never have a boring breakfast. The bad news is that in terms of taste, its not consistent. For example, there was one morning which had Hainanese Chicken Rice served, and I nearly vomited after tasting it. On another day, there was Green Curry Chicken served, and it was amazing. Speaking of breakfast, I want to highlight the excellent service by Mr. Tong, which I believe is the manager of the breakfast service. Mr. Tong was very attentive and checked-in on us to make sure everything was fine. Interestingly, he spoke much better English than half the front desk staff so perhaps he should be there instead! Last but not least, I want to provide some inputs about the service. It was very inconsistent. Most of the staff at the hotel were very friendly, particularly the concierge, which was amazing at making dining reservations and providing recommendations for lunch/dinner. The front desk staff were also very friendly, and I managed to have a good chat with the front desk manager on several occasions. She had a good command of English, together with a woman who appeared fierce but was very friendly, but the same can't be said for the rest of the staff. They had some of the worse English I have ever seen in any hotel. Bangkok is an international tourist destination, and if the front desk can't get English right, it's better they are moved to other parts of the hotel. Also, some of the staff are extremely stingy when it comes to bathroom amenities. We requested extra Body Wash on several occ

The room was really clean and bright. The bed is really big enough for two people.I really liked the swimming pool and the view was really incredible at night since the hotel is around the city centre. The staffs are really helpful and friendly.I definitely enjoyed my stay at there and I would stay there when I come to visit Bangkok again. It’s a great place to stay for real if you like to enjoy nightlife of Bangkok since it’s near to most of the attractions.
Thrive Hotel

I stayed alone and in conclusion, I was very satisfied. It seemed like it had been recently remodeled when I stayed there. The sign saying Sam's lodge hasn't been taken down yet. Good location for the price, quiet, and very clean. I was satisfied with everything except that there was no window and the toilet water pressure was weak. It felt like a clean Korean motel. It was nice to have a hair dryer as well. The air conditioner is cool and there is also a hair dryer. The towels were clean too. The floor was laid on a floor similar to that used in Korean apartments, and it was so clean that you would feel a little embarrassed if you went in with your shoes on. If I come back, I think I will stay again haha.

Wonderful Stay. Really nice, sweet and accommodating front desk attendant named Fon. The room is clean and cozy. The place is warm and welcoming. But just a heads up there is no lift/ elevator so may not be very convenient for those with difficulties. But other than that everything is wonderful! And of course the price is good. It is also walking distance from Terminal 21 and it's close by MRT and BTS train stations.

I stayed at the Ellis for one night. It is located in the middle of the very busy Soi Sukhumvit 21, right next to the GMM Grammy Place Building (yes, if you are a die-hard Thai BL fan, you will love this location). It is 10-minute walk from Makkasan Airport Link station, Phetchaburi MRT station, Sukhumvit MRT station and Asok BTS station. This is a place perfect for budget light traveller because the pedestrian along the way is a bit bumpy for heavy baggage, and there is no elevator in the Ellis. I booked a single ensuite room for one night. The room on the 4th floor was decent considering its price, but the aircon kept dripping water. I reported the situation to the receptionist. The young man at the reception was helpful, but it turned out that the technician never came after 3.5 hours. I was fortunate enough to be upgraded to a spacious family room. I have to say that both rooms look like the photos on the hotel booking websites. Even though it is located very close to the busy main road, it wasn't very noisy. I mean, if you are a city-dweller, you would be satisfied with this level of soundproof. My sleeping quality was good provided that I carefully set the aircon direction to make sure that the 3 pendant lamps did not clink with each other. On the ground floor of the Ellis is a veg cafe run by a kind family. In the same alley are Indian, Chinese, Thai and Japanese eateries. Across the road is a 7-11 convenience store. Within 5-minute walk are two local markets, Sukta Market and Ruam Sab Market, both of which have a foodhall. There are plenty of restaurants (of different cuisines) nearby. Read that there are regular morning market and night market at SWU, but I missed all of them. At both ends of Soi Sukhumvit 21 are shopping malls. You can find very affordable meals in the foodhall Pier 21 at the Terminal 21 shopping mall. Other attractions such as Soi Cowboy is also in walking distance. All in all, I am satisfied with this hostel but would not recommend it to those who travel with the elderly.

2022.08.14~20 Deluxe Suite 80m2 was used. I personally visited Bangkok for relaxation. It takes about 5 minutes on foot to Asok Station and is conveniently located for BTS/MRT access. It has a structure that can be used like a home, and the living room, bedroom and kitchen are separated, making it a quiet and relaxed space. However, the breakfast is a bit poor, and the swimming pool is also small, so it is difficult to compare with other hotels. Personally, I used it comfortably because I was visiting alone. It's a bit old-fashioned residence. And, the chairs on the balcony need replacement. It's too old to sit on.
