🏡 Cizhong is a small village that is quiet and easy to be ignored by travelers. However, this is a legend on the banks of the Lancang River. Chinese and Western cultures and different religions collide and merge here, and finally be brewed into a mellow wine with time.
💕 Songzanz Zhongshan Ju - two two-story Tibetan stone and wooden structure small buildings are surrounded by mountains and waters, leaning on the white tower and the master statue of Lotus Peanuts at the head of the village, looking at the Lancang River Canyon and Cizhong Catholic Church from afar. The interior design of the mountain house integrates the characteristics of China and the West: both the implicit and simple Oriental beauty, but also show the traces of the old-fashioned European aesthetic.
📸 The most attractive ones are old photos that hang in corners and fall from the National Geographic headquarters in the United States, and these silver, salt, black and white photos truthfully record life on this land a hundred years ago.
🍚 Three meals a day and afternoon tea are extremely exquisite. A small vegetable garden is opened next to the hotel, and a variety of vegetables are dazzling; rose honey grapes are also planted, row after row, small and cute.
👍🏻 During the stay, there were mainly two sisters in charge of all ours (no name asked, a little regret), be sure to praise! They always smile and treat people with enthusiasm, absolutely 100% service. The supervisor sister also promised to help send postcards, great!
The hotel is very nice. I took a check-in video and a drone view. It's very cool! It should be the only B&B here that uses tents.
There is a record player, humidifier, skirting board, and complete electrical appliances in the room; there is a snow-capped mountain outside the window, and the view can be used as a reference. This room is said to be the best room without a telephone pole blocking it. It is also the highest; there is a small balcony outside the door, and it is very comfortable for two people to sit and chat.
There are pomegranates, pears, coffee, and moon cakes, which are very nice. If you come early, there are also fascia gun quotas.
Butler Jay is the biggest highlight of the B&B. The breakfast is very rich, especially the fried eggs are super delicious. You won't regret ordering one more. He will introduce us to several route strategies and precautions. The breakfast cakes are all made by Jay himself. We had dinner at the B&B on the first night, and Jay completely retained the flavor of free-range chicken.
Customer service Dapao and Gousheng are both great and very active in business. It is recommended that the boss add cat strips.
The last point is that the hotel is in Shangyubeng. Everyone should pay attention to the location. We walked to Xiayubeng to enter and exit, and the pickup truck cost 100 yuan more.

I have to give this hotel a good review. I just came out of Yubeng and came across such a hotel. I was pleasantly surprised. The room is very big. The hotel is new. Everything is very new. The TV didn’t even have to remove the plastic film. The air conditioner is powerful. The boss is also very considerate. There is a small courtyard that is very unique. Overall, I am very satisfied. The only inconvenient thing is that you have to go up a flight of stairs. If you have a suitcase, you can call the boss to carry it! !

The first stop of this trip was to stay at Songtsam Green Valley, the first hotel of Mr. Baima, the founder of Songtsam. Then we went to Songtsam Meili Mountain Residence, which had a superb cloud-top experience. After going down the mountain, we continued to stay at the third Songtsam Hotel of this trip, Songtsam Benzilan, which had a fresh countryside feel. The three hotels have their own characteristics, and the services and facilities are equally great. They are quiet, private, and have excellent scenery and location!
One of the highlights of the B&B is the large viewing platform, with the Lancang River flowing through it on the right. On the left, you can see Kawagebo Peak, the main peak of Meili Snow Mountain. The viewing platform is surrounded by vibrant vineyards, making staying in this B&B feel like being in a manor.
The second highlight of the B&B is that the room is spacious, clean, the supplies are new and clean, and the internet speed is very fast.
The third highlight of the B&B is that it has a kitchen, which can be used for free. The bath water is large and hot, and it also provides purified water.
I was very impressed by the kind and friendly owner.
Facilities: Complete, floor-to-ceiling windows with beautiful views
Sanitation: Clean
Environment: Shangyubeng has the best conditions
Service: Enthusiastic, great food
One pick-up from the B&B to the ticket gate of Yubeng Shangcun: My camera was left at the hotel, and the driver even picked it up for me on a motorcycle
Welcome snack: The croissants were delicious
Hiking bags: Supplies will be prepared for hikers
Cats are super cute
We highly recommend staying in Yolo Guesthouse if you are staying overnight at Upper Yubeng Village. The owner and staff of the guesthouse was very friendly, helpful and informative throughout our stay.
We connected through WeChat prior to arrival and liaised with the guesthouse for transport from Lower Yubeng to upper Yubeng. The transport was included in the reservation. On arrival in the afternoon, the staff introduced and escorted us to a nearby restaurant for lunch even though it was drizzling.
The guesthouse is strategically located to have views of the valley downstream and upstream. The building structure is sturdy and well designed compared to many other accommodations in the villages. The interior of the room and the rooftop coffee bar is beautifully designed and clean. They also have Dyson hairdryer and Smeg electric kettle. Coffee at the rooftop bar was decent but it was accompanied by amazing views of the valley. We were the only ones at the rooftop bar after check in and we also had their in-house hotpot at night which we enjoyed.
Prior to departing for our day hike (Glacier lake from Upper Yubeng Village) the next day, the guesthouse even provided hiking poles, crampons, bottled water, Red Bull canned drinks and a homely ham and egg sandwich. We were also allowed to leave our bags stored with them as we had to check out in the late afternoon after returning from the hike. After checkout, the guesthouse also helped to call a vehicle to transport us down to lower Yubeng village.
We wished we had stayed here longer throughout our trip to Yubeng. We felt very welcomed and had a memorable stay. Thank you so much!
My friends and I are relatively picky about accommodation, but I live here not only as a homestay, but as a strong sense of Tibetan compatriots.
When booking a homestay, consider not only to be close to Yubeng, but also to have Tibetan cultural characteristics, and to be clean and high-scoring, repeatedly selected this homestay. As soon as we walked into the courtyard of the homestay, we were fortunate to choose the right place. This is a fully wooden structure decoration, with Tibetan cultural characteristics of independent courtyard, a total of two floors, 9 rooms, each room is very spacious and clean, the room utensils and bedding are also carefully prepared.
The owner of the homestay is a very cultivated and gentlemanly Tibetan compatriot Mr. Xiao (Chinese name), who gave good advice according to our walking requirements for a limited time. When we were hiking in Yubeng, we received a call from him, saying that when we finished our hiking, we would pick us up and go to his mother-in-law's house for dinner. It happened to be the mother-in-law's house that day, killing the pig, and a family gathering. This made us very surprised, but also very curious about the dining culture of Tibetan compatriots. We were curious and sloppy with Mr. Xiao to his mother-in-law's house, this is a more large building, the living room is about 200 square meters, many relatives and friends have sat around to start dinner, Mr. Xiao's family specially arranged a small table for us, he personally accompanied, Let us taste the warm barley wine made by ourselves, the roast meat of Tibetan pigs slaughtered that day, the special meat sausage and fried liver and other dishes. When we offered to pay him, he thanked him and said that the Tibetan compatriots were very hospitable and happened to meet the family gathering, so he went to live together.
It was only during the meeting that Mr. Xiao was a very rare highly educated person among the local Tibetan compatriots of the same age. He was highly respected and respected by everyone. After 30 years of government work, he made careful renovations and decorations of his own residence, which not only allowed him to live in his own home. At the same time, you can be happy to do your favorite homestay, smile and welcome guests from all over the world, make friends, and open up your horizons.
On this night here, friends in the same group slept very comfortably, and deeply felt the sincere and simple love of Mr. and Mrs. Xiao.
The morning sun filled the courtyard, Mr. and Mrs. Xiao prepared delicious butter tea and crispy pasta cakes, we felt like visiting our relatives, and we agreed to come again.
It's such a big yard, with small bridges, flowing water, and scattered flowers and trees. I climbed up the steps and entered the hall. I was stunned by its magnificence. What you can hear in the room is the sound of rushing water. The bed is a Tibetan-style high bed, and the table in the middle is quite interesting, where you can put things.
The disadvantage is that the bathroom is not of high quality and there is no dry and wet separation. On the day we checked in, the water was very turbid and we did not dare to use it for washing. The boss said it was because the town was repairing water pipes. However, the boss was very enthusiastic and gave us a lot of mineral water. We could pick fruits in the yard and eat fruits and snacks on the table. Their dried apples are delicious😊. For ******* breakfast, the boss taught us how to make tsampa.
The most satisfying hotel in the entire Shangri-La trip. I personally think that Meili Shanju is better than Songzan Linka! The hotel public areas and rooms use a lot of wood for decoration, especially the rooms, almost all wooden furniture, very textured, the room lighting is also very warm, at night the whole room is very homely, very comfortable to live in! The deluxe mountain residence king-size bed room booked is very large, it is a small suite with a small living room, a bedroom, and a separate small balcony. The balcony window faces the Meili Snow Mountain, and the view is excellent! The dinner in the hotel's Chinese restaurant is a set meal, and the product of 350 per person is very amazing and cost-effective! Although there are not many varieties of breakfast, the taste of the single items is great, and the handmade noodles and rice noodles taste great! The afternoon tea is a little simple, and all the service staff of the hotel are enthusiastic and professional. When checking in, they will send a pair of handmade cloth shoes for guests to change into, full of ritual! The Arc'teryx store in Meili Shanju also has more styles than the Songzan Linka store!

GGuest UserWhat can I say, Yeyu has simply got to be hands down, the best place that I have stayed in during my entire Yunnan trip. I am amazed and wasn't expecting it to be this great. I know the idea of staying in a luxury hotel doesn't seem to be something that goes hand in hand with hiking (I say this from my experience of having hiked in several other places before where the key highlight is the natural setting itself), but I have to say that it was really soothing for the soul. My girlfriend and I loved this place! The hotel is tastefully designed at every corner and angle and we can appreciate that a lot of creativity and thought was put into designing this place. The aesthetics is very pleasing to the eye and embraces the natural scenery really well. We also loved the homage it pays to the area's ******* roots such as the photographs displayed in the room (young ******* monks playing and the ******* gazelles in the bathroom) and also all the books about Tibet, Yunnan province that is in the library and living room space. The service provided by the staff was top notch, very attentive and caring. We were always asked if there's anything that the staff can do for us be it preparing a plate of fresh fruits, preparing some drinks for us when we were lounging at the living area and another completely unexpected one was when we returned from the Sacred Waterfall hike with our shoes filled with mud, the hotel staff kindly asked us to leave our shoes with him and it came back the next day fully cleaned, placed in front of our rooms. The lovely service provided was just simply amazing and for this, I would like to offer my sincere thanks and gratitude to all of the lovely staff at Yeyu who provided us with such a beautiful memory of our too brief stay here and thank you so much for the room upgrade. If I could organise this trip again, I would have liked to stay here much longer to be able to relax and enjoy the beauty of this place. Please believe me when I say that it is completely worth every yuan.
PS: Please note that there are two Yeyu Hotels in Yubeng, one near the pond and the other near the temple. We stayed at the one near the temple. Both of them are beautiful in their distinctive ways.
LLamNancyIt started off not too well. Our driver took us to a wrong hotel, a hotel which was grander, more beautiful and it faces the Meili Mountain! We were so disappointed when we found out that that was not the hotel we booked.
Even though Deqin Zangshan Yunju Hotel is not facing the Meili Mountain, it does provide shuttle to the viewing platform. The lady driver was waiting for us to take us there before the sunrise. It was a good thing too, our own guide and driver failed to show up to take us there!!!! When one can only see the sunrise on Meili for 67 days out of 365 days a year, it came as no surprise that we did not see the sunrise due to cloud cover. All is not lost though since this hotel faces the Baima Mountain and we did catch a beautiful sunrise from the hotel. The 4th floor rooftop is perfect for that. We had the 270 degree room which offers a fantastic view, but the windows were not cleaned as well, so taking photos from the room was not as good.
The breakfast was adequate. It would be nice if they could prepare a bit more. I am sure if I asked, they would make more for me though.
No regrets staying at this great hotel. The hotel is located close to the Fellei temple.
GGuest UserAlthough the weather was not good in just one day and one night, and we only saw the foggy Meili Snow Mountain, the service, environment, afternoon tea and goodnight dessert on the way down the mountain were so happy. It was a magical experience to watch documentaries and drink rice wine with a group of strangers.
The basic room type we booked was fortunately upgraded to a Muyun King Room, from which we could directly see the snow-capped mountains. Both the room and the public areas were wonderfully designed, and the designer is amazing [thumbs up] [thumbs up] I will come again next time, to see the golden mountain in the sun, and to experience going down the mountain again.
GGuest UserThe room is beautifully designed with advanced built in technology such as diffused oxygen supply and floor heating, with a great direct view to the snowy mountains.
There are many home stays nearby that offers the same Mountain View. We paid a premium to stay here, not only for the Mountain View, but also for the supposed services and daily activities that the hotel advertised on social media.
Unfortunately the service level is almost non existent, the breakfast area is easily overpacked. The staffs even asked me to share a four people table with a couple during breakfast. I am not paying USD500 per night so I can share a dining table with strangers with no privacy.
We joined the sound healing experience which was held at 9pm (on the contrary to most other sound healing experiences I had, which is usually in the morning). The sound healing experience was held in the meditation room, which is located right above the Bar. Naturally, during the sound healing experience I heard mostly loud speakers playing APT and other loud music, with some light bowl singing sound.
The dinner was the worst I have had during my 9 days trip in Yunnan. The afternoon tea on level 5 (Bar area) was strangely arranged with all guests cramped next to each other and hunched over the low table where snacks are placed.
The hotel claims to have the top hotel room design and provides top end appliances in all the rooms, including HERMES toiletries, a B&O speaker, and Dyson hairdryer. The staffs introduced the room with great enthusiasm and pride on the small design details.
Although, after 2nights in the hotel, I left feeling the hotel is nothing but an empty shell with no soul.
I will not come back to this hotel again
GGuest UserThe location of the B&B is good, right at the Baita at the entrance of Xiayubeng Village. If you want to rest immediately after a day of hiking, this is a good choice. It is on the third floor of the house. There is a small platform upstairs. It is so comfortable to see the beautiful scenery of the snow-capped mountains. The house facing the snow-capped mountains is a little more expensive. I didn't choose it. I chose the other side. It's okay to see the snow-capped mountains from outside, but it's probably a good experience to be able to see them in the room.
The service is also very good. I experienced the singing bowl meditation, which is a very novel experience and helps to relax. The wooden floor and the floor heating in the room are very warm.
GGuest UserMy room was as described. Functional and nice and warm (with heating on) with an excellent hot shower and nice wooden wall beams.
The people who run the place are lovely and also offer nice breakfast options in the morning.
The only small note I have is that (despite best efforts and a very modern ventilation system in the bathroom) the bathroom is already moldy. I understand that it's a challenge to get under control given the climate.
I would stay again next time, and actually spend more than just one night here. There is so much you can explore here!
GGuest UserPerfect location! The location at Shang Yubeng is extremely good, and it is very obvious when looking up the mountain from Xia Yubeng. The service is also good, and they also provide hiking supply packs. The shredded potatoes in the restaurant are delicious! The breakfast noodles taste a little bland, it would be better if there was some chili oil!
JjshanghaiWe stayed at the Wake Up Mountain Hotel in June 2024 for a week. The Hotel is wonderful. The rooms are clean, the bathrooms are excellent, and the view from the windows of the mountains is fantastic. The Hotel also has a viewing area (and a bar) on the roof, providing the best sunrise view of the entire region's mountains. The restaurant has a great menu and excellent food; it is the best restaurant in the area. Finally, the staff Wenwen and others are wonderful, friendly and helpful. They arranged car and driver tours for us to travel around the area and addressed our requests. Excellent stay. They are highly recommended. Ken and Jacqueline
GGuest UserYourland Hotel is run and operated by a very hard working lady who essentially does everything herself - from welcoming guests, cooking breakfast, cleaning the rooms and washing the bed sheets & laundry. The rooms are very clean and neatly organised, it has all the comforts that any hiker should need in such a remote location that is high up in the mountains (e.g. electric blankets, warm showers, etc.) Please do note that the warm water does need sometime to reheat especially if another guest takes a shower right away after the first guest. It will not be sufficient time for the water heating machine to heat the water. You should take note of the number that is displayed on the water heater. By default in our room, it showed the number of 44 and after the first guest took the shower, it went down to 19. If someone takes a shower right away at that moment, it will be cold so the next person should wait a bit until the number displayed moves up.
The views in the morning are amazing as you can see the mountain ranges on three different sides so you get a very good panoramic view from the terrace of the hotel. After a long day of hiking, our moods were lightened up when we were welcomed by the friendly and playful Labrador Retriever whose name is Dou Dou. Such a lovely dog <3. I would recommend you to stay here if you are looking for a place to stay in Upper Yubeng, it's good base for your planned hikes to the Glacier Lake and Nise Ranch. The place might be a bit difficult to locate if you arrive in Yubeng late at night (like we did since we walked all the way from Ninong, which was really tiring), but once you get the gist of it, it's very easy to remember and locate.
GGuest UserThis hotel offers a great location to view the Meili Snow Mountains during the morning golden peak and also sunset (if you're lucky with the weather conditions). It is right next to the bus stop, which means it is very convenient if you are planning to catch an early morning bus (in our case). Rooms can be a bit pricey, but we know that we are essentially paying for the view. The food at the hotel is also tasty, I didn't need to go and look anywhere else for dinner and breakfast. I appreciated the great help that was provided by a staff named Xiao Wei. We arrived at the hotel when it was raining and wasn't expecting to see any mountain range in sight, but then the sky suddenly cleared up during the evening just shortly before sunset whilst we were having dinner and Xiao Wei came over to tell us to go and have a look at the snow mountain, which made our hearts rushed with joy. We also appreciated when Xiao Wei told us again during night time that the mountain range was visible so we quickly opened the curtain to treat ourselves with another fantastic view. The viewing platform on the top floor is a great location to see the sunrise and golden peak. I personally think it's even better viewing at the Feilai Temple platform that most tourists go to. On a final note, Xiao Wei again was very kind to help us by going to the bus platform at 8.30 AM in the morning to help us purchase the bus tickets from the driver (we couldn't do so as wechat pay didn't work for us).
We were very happy with our stay here and got very lucky with some of the best views during our entire Yunnan trip. Thank you very much to Xiao Wei and the staff at Once Upon A Time in Meili :)
