"Born in 1999, I've always had a special affinity for turn-of-the-millennium architecture. These grand, classic structures, embodying bold visions of the future, also exude a 'dreamcore'-like surreal atmosphere that perfectly aligned with all my childhood aspirations for big cities. The Kunming Grand Park Hotel also opened its doors in 1999. While its facilities might show the passage of time, it still retains an old-world elegance and style. I particularly enjoyed the slow-moving, retro-decorated elevator; each ride felt like a brief journey through time. Walking through the corridors, it was as if time had gently receded, transporting me back to the atmosphere of the early 2000s. I often found myself standing by the window, gazing out at the city's evolving skyline in the distance. I couldn't help but wonder: What would the person who stayed in this very room twenty years ago have been like? Did they also stand by this same window, gazing at the sky and street views of their time, filled with anticipation or uncertainty about the future? It felt as if a thin membrane of time separated us, invisible to each other, yet sharing the exact same view in that moment. I loved it here so much; it felt like opening a window to another time. Yet, as night fell, the clearer that atmosphere from the past became, the more it evoked a gentle melancholy—like a grand, yet now untouchable, old dream. And precisely for this reason, I know I will certainly return."

"I loved the floor-to-ceiling windows in my room. The handwritten note left by the staff in the room was a very special touch – it's been ages since I received a handwritten message! The room was impeccably clean and tidy every single day, truly deserving a five-star rating. I also adored the little heart shape the staff thoughtfully arranged on the bed. The thoughtful service from the front desk staff was excellent. I even connected with them on WeChat during check-in, and they responded promptly to all my questions and issues throughout my stay. I really appreciated the smart design of the elevators: after scanning your room card, it automatically selects your floor. In most other hotels, you have to scan your card *and then* manually press your floor button, so this Novotel is the first one I've encountered with such a convenient system. And a tip: remember to look up at the ceiling when you're in the elevator – there's a pleasant surprise waiting for you! Another thoughtful detail was the complimentary bottled water available for guests to take in the elevator lobbies on each floor and right next to the front desk. It's super handy, especially since I often forget to bring water when I head out. What I didn't like were the two large display screens at the front desk. They created an unnecessary barrier between myself and the staff, which felt a bit impersonal during what should have been warm, face-to-face interactions. Finally, thank you for the small gift we received at check-out. I haven't opened it yet, but I'm guessing it's a flower pastry. It would have been even better if it had been given to us a bit earlier, perhaps before I finished packing my luggage, so I wouldn't have had an extra item to juggle on the high-speed train."

"After reading numerous reviews, I felt the hotel's location was great and the breakfast was good, suggesting that as an established five-star property, it should be decent. However, many negative reviews mentioned outdated facilities, which made me quite apprehensive upon arrival. My check-in experience wasn't great. We arrived a little after 1 PM, but our room wasn't ready yet, still being cleaned. We were asked to store our luggage and return later to check in after we had gone out. After we went out for lunch, it was around 2:30 PM and the room still wasn't ready. The elderly and children in our group were quite tired. They managed to sort it out within ten minutes after that, but then we had issues with the room key cards. I was initially quite disappointed, but once we got to the room, I found the facilities weren't as dated as some reviews suggested. The room felt quite spacious, and the amenities were decent – much better than I had anticipated. The balcony offered a direct view of Nanqiang Street Night Market, which was bustling with food stalls, and it was also very close to the old town. Later, a staff member helped deliver our luggage to the room with a very good attitude. They explained that during peak season, with many tourists, service might not always be perfect, and I decided to be understanding about it. The service for the remaining two days of our stay was excellent. The breakfast was indeed impressive. There was a rich selection of hot and cold dishes, including local Yunnan specialties like freshly prepared rice noodles. They also had a good array of Western-style simple meals, delicious porridge, and a wide variety of salads. A special mention goes to their 'flower cakes' (鲜花饼); they were clearly freshly baked and absolutely far superior to any we found outside. We even bought four boxes to take home. The complimentary water provided was local mineral water, which was surprisingly pleasant. Overall, I'd say the value for money was good, and my entire family was very satisfied with our stay."

"The hotel is brand new and exceptionally well-equipped. The front desk staff, Jinli and Jinsuo, were incredibly warm and thoughtful. The in-room smart features are highly advanced, minimizing the need for manual operation. The shower pressure was perfect, making for a truly relaxing experience. The hotel's amenities are excellent; the toothpaste, toothbrush, and slippers are both eco-friendly and comfortable, making them items you'll appreciate keeping or reusing. The bedding is also very comfortable, and the blackout curtains provide excellent light blocking. While the overall soundproofing is good, we did notice some louder sounds now and then. All in all, it's a great hotel, perfect for both leisure vacations and family getaways."

"The hotel is situated within a large courtyard. The rooms are equipped with direct drinking water dispensers that provide hot water, which was very convenient, and having the bathroom and toilet separate was great as they didn't interfere with each other. The mattress in our complimentary upgraded room was incredibly comfortable; it was the best night's sleep I'd had in half a month since arriving in Yunnan. The Huizhou-style architecture and overall ambiance were superb! The water lilies in the courtyard were blooming beautifully, and the koi fish were plump and lively. The central courtyard, with its pond, was a perfect spot to relax and enjoy snacks in the evening. The service was warm and attentive, and the sauerkraut fried rice at breakfast was absolutely delicious!!!"

"We stayed here for three nights. It's a charming and beautiful boutique hotel. The room's soundproofing was quite good, and the hygiene was impressive. Although the front desk staff's attitude at check-in was very poor, the lobby manager, who happened to be nearby, noticed the situation and promptly resolved it. We were also given a complimentary gift bag upon departure, which was much appreciated! **Suggestions for Improvement:** 1. The breakfast menu could definitely use some improvement. They should consider adding more meat dishes, as currently, there isn't much to eat besides a bowl of noodles. The restaurant itself is quite small, leading to wait times during busy periods. Optimizing the table and chair layout could significantly increase seating capacity. 2. I didn't participate in the afternoon tea, but I noticed some guests carrying fruit and prawn crackers to eat by the rooftop pool. Given that seating on the rooftop is already limited, I hope the hotel can enforce better management. Just a few days ago, at the Shangri-La in Shenzhen, guests wearing hotel slippers into the restaurant were stopped, but here, such behavior in the restaurant seems to be largely ignored by the staff. 3. The elevator wait times are definitely long. Two elevators are simply not enough for the hotel. Once you're upstairs, you almost don't want to come down because you know you'll have to wait so long for an elevator again. 4. While the hotel's location *seems* convenient for reaching various places, in reality, getting around by foot or car actually consumes a surprising amount of time. 5. The exhaust fan in the bathroom is practically ineffective. The lingering smell of a previous guest's smoking in the toilet area was very strong and wouldn't dissipate. Although the hotel did come to address it later, which helped a lot, I hope they can improve the exhaust fan's performance in the future."

"I stayed for 4 nights and was very satisfied, so I extended my stay for another three nights. The front desk staff kindly informed me that booking online was cheaper than booking directly and that I could even keep my original room. They also gifted me some fruit and delicious snowflake crisps. The room windows had screens, making it easy to ventilate the room. The bathroom was clean, and the hairdryer was compact and effective. I particularly liked the good quality shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel with their pleasant tea fragrance, which were mild and non-irritating to the skin. There were plenty of wooden hangers in the wardrobe, along with a safe and a mini-fridge. Several full-length mirrors were convenient for trying on clothes. The buffet breakfast was exceptionally plentiful, and the hours from 6 AM to 10 AM were conveniently long. The restaurant itself was spacious, bright, beautifully decorated, and clean. The hotel's surroundings were beautiful, with the stunning Cuihu Lake just outside the entrance. The area was dotted with shops, making it convenient for dining and shopping. Taxis were also easily accessible."
