Hotels in Downtown Commercial Area, Kunming

This S Hotel in Kunming was by far the best hotel we stayed at during our Yunnan trip. To be honest, Kunming was our last stop, and the hotels in Dali, Lijiang, and Shangri-La beforehand were all just average. So, I didn't have high expectations for this place, especially since it was so affordable. The elevator and front desk seemed quite basic, but I was pleasantly surprised when I entered the room. The overall white decor was stunning, and most importantly, it was incredibly clean and hygienic – even the toilet area smelled fresh, which was a huge plus. I had booked a king-size room and got a free upgrade, which was great. The room has a digital lock, so it's convenient not having to carry a room key when going out. Plus, the hotel's location is excellent, right on Kunming Old Street Pedestrian Street, surrounded by lots of delicious food options. It's also close to both the airport and the high-speed train station. This hotel truly offers incredible value for money, and I'll definitely choose it first next time I visit Kunming.

The bedding in the room was clean and hygienic, the bed was 1.5 meters wide, and the mattress was very comfortable. Fresh flowers were placed in the hallways and rooms, and complimentary fruit and snacks were provided daily, which was a lovely touch. Crucially, the location is excellent, right in the city center, making it very convenient for getting around. You can walk to Nanqiang Street and Alley, Kunming Old Street Pedestrian Street, and other attractions, making it easy to visit night markets, enjoy snacks, and shop. Metro Line 6 is also nearby, offering direct access to the airport. The only downside is that the soundproofing in the room was a bit poor. I encountered inconsiderate neighbors who were loud and playful late into the night, severely disrupting my rest until I had to call the front desk to resolve the issue. Everything else was great.

What a gem of a guesthouse I found in Nanping Street, truly a little sanctuary in the heart of the city! ✨ The design is fantastic – minimalist yet cozy, and the location is absolutely perfect. It's within walking distance of Nanping Street and the Old Street, close to the subway, making it super convenient for sightseeing and grabbing a bite. The room was spotless, the bedding soft, and the bathroom had a great wet/dry separation. All the facilities were new and complete. The owner was incredibly warm and attentive, even offering local travel tips. The value for money is off the charts, a must-stay when you're in Kunming! Plus, the owner's service attitude is exceptional, they respond in seconds and can even help with parcel deliveries and luggage storage. [playful]

This stay truly exceeded my expectations, and I have to give it a huge thumbs up! From the moment I stepped into the lobby, I felt that meticulous care. The bedding in the room was just right – neither too soft nor too firm – and the wet/dry separation in the bathroom was very thoughtfully designed. Add to that the staff's professional and prompt service, and it made this trip exceptionally relaxed and comfortable. It's definitely the top choice for both business trips and leisure getaways.

We have a great sleep here. Warm, clean, away from loud noise, big bedroom, big space, nice view - most importantly, affordable price. When we arrived a few hasn't been cleaned but we arrived early, so they let us rest at front desk. Staff was welcoming, help with everything we needed. I will definitely choose this hotel again if i visit Kunming in a large group

The lobby is very stylish, and check-in was quick. The room was well-equipped, and the bathroom featured a convenient wet/dry separation. The front desk staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, and they even offered complimentary luggage storage.

The owner upgraded me to a loft king room. The room was very rustic and had a unique Yunnan charm. Breakfast included rice noodles, soy milk, and various grains. The owner even came downstairs to pick me up. The location is about 790 meters from the old town, making it very convenient for sightseeing and getting around. The conditioner was also really good!

We got upgraded, but the upgrade was not what we wanted. I felt we were dumped into an worst off room.. Spent only 1 night here. The whole building has only 1 working lift. It takes ages going up and down and its always packed, we were on the 12th floor. The corridor leading to room felr sleazy and dark and stinks.. The toilet was dirty and mold was everywhere, we were disgusted just trying to use it. The washer has no dryer and no place to hang clothes. Found a lumped up tissue behind the door in the bathroom. Yucks. Washer was dirty too.. whole house Floor was tacky and can really feel dirty beneath ur feet. The bed was very hard. Tatami was very hard too. Decor wise; in an attempt to look cosy, it has many plants that were in very dirty water and it was very dusty and decor was so worn down it made the house look very dead and sullen. The cooking space and sink was so gross also. The cutleries were rusty. every corner was dusty. We didnt even feel comfortable on the sofa. We sat on edges cause we felt disgusted.. The location was perfect otherwise. Such a waste. Wont ever book this room. Didnt even see the landlord. Dont think the landlord even checks the condition of the rooms before renting out. The housekeeping did a terrible job. Landlord is very responsive nonetheless.
