Location was great! Near a few metro stations and only a 5-minute walk to the Nanjing pedestrian walk
Every corner we turn there are things to eat. Definitely won't go hungry.
Lobby staff are very friendly and helpful.
The room was spacious and the single bed was bigger than expected.
AI controls the windows' curtains, lights, TV and air-conditioning but Chinese slang has to be used.
Mini robot car to bring up your 外卖 if you order so don't need to go down and collect.
Cons:
No light switch in the room so cannot off / on the lights partially and manually. AI can either ON / OFF all the lights.
No mini fridge in the room. (Front desk informed that we need to tell them we wanted a fridge and will try to arrange for a room with it.)

This is my 2nd stay at this hotel. Location is superb with easy access to subway station, Nanjing Rd walking street, restaurants, shopping malls, to the Bund & more. We stayed at the family room with breakfast for 3 adults and it was spacious enough for 3. Breakfast spread is very good from western to local - yummy!
Our room includes the access to the executive lounge which was very nice - had afternoon and even drinks and snacks there.
We enjoyed the gym very much, it was a properly equipped one with a super cute and friendly cat that comes in every now and then to say hello. The best gym mascot every :-)

Very nice hotel: staff are quite friendly and helpful. Facilities are not brand new considering the overall age of the hotel but well maintained. The living environment is decent and comfortable. You can tell the hotel is recognized but local and international travelers. Cost-effectiveness is high considering the conditions & location. Will come again!

The bad: room is small, we got room with no view, just bricks, alleyway has smoking smell, security operational is unsafe, staff download hotel app on their phone and ask for otp from guest for room or breakfast discount. no bidet for female. breakfast menu is limited with average taste. cutleries kind of dirty.
The good: location is great, near to nanyang pedestrian street, there is laundry room, lot of free water and tissue.

I had a wonderful experience staying at Chalet Hotel in Shanghai. From the moment I arrived, the customer service was truly outstanding. The reception is open 24 hours, which made check-in smooth and convenient—even at odd hours.
One of the highlights of my stay was the professional and courteous support from Panpan at the front desk. He’s went above and beyond to ensure everything was comfortable for me, and even kindly arranged a late checkout by 2 hours, which I greatly appreciated.
The hotel itself is modern, clean, and equipped with great facilities—everything I needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay was right here. The location is also convenient for getting around the city.
I’m very happy with my stay and would definitely love to come back next time I’m in Shanghai. Highly recommend Charlotte Hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable, well-managed, and guest-focused place to stay.

Underrated Hotel! Came here with low expectation since its a budget hotel, but the service and room is really great!
The checkin was fast considering we are foreigners who arrive midnight, and got upgraded into bigger room
Staff gave us some gifts before check out and its really kind of them.
Location is good enough, we got familymart next to our hotel and walking distance to nanjing road/ the bund area

Pros - Provides freshly grounded coffee and biscuits at the ground floor. Superb!Rooms are made everyday and super clean. The toiletries provided smells great, esp the white tea hand wash. A good breakfast place was provided nearby and a little bit of walk would bring you to several convenience stalls or even a veggie market.
Cons - the bath design somehow makes the entire floor at the WC wet. No hand towels was provided, and only 1 portion was given for the toiletries, ie, one bottle of moisturister. The corridors has numerous ramps which can be dangerous if you are not careful. The lift area still has remants of renovation and raw wood plywood board as walls. The staff weren't attentive when we wanted to check out, they just continued doing their own things until we called out to them that we are checking out. There is no proper ramp for luggage at the entrance, the existing one is steep and almost not usable. Next door is a freight/courier processing plant, so forget about have a safe passageway with your luggage and you will end up walking along the road most of the time. Construction site is happening next door, so a few years from now the roads are going to be dustry, and noisy.

We are given a warm welcome and free upgrade to a higher floor for a better view. Appreciate that. Encountered a small incident when we check in. Something fell from the ceiling and nearly hit my friend. Feedback to reception n investigation was quickly carried out. Impressed at their quick turnaround. Findings it was dried paint from the ceiling. Have me wondering. Quite a big patch and corners are sharp. I took a pic of one of them. We were given upgrade to higher floor with desserts n sweets. However the access to the executive lounge that came with the room was not granted. Hotel will have give us the full access if they are sincere in their apology. That will be an extra step and beyond from Marriott to set them apart. Anyway, their housekeeping is mediocre. Dusty at some places and they did not clear the used cutlery. Expect the guests to wash ? Other than this , the rest of the stay is still enjoyable. Location is near Nanjing road n malls n dining. McDonald CHAGEE n subway downstairs. Need to take didi to the bund. Short drive.

Everything you need is there, only there are no robes, but this is not a hotel ))) The price is very comfortable, it doesn't hit the budget) In Shanghai, this is even a low cost. There was mold on the wall in the room, but it's not critical, I didn't change the room, since it was for a couple of days.

Walking into the room, the warm yellow light gently sprinkled down, creating a quiet and warm atmosphere, just like the moment I opened the door, familiarity and peace of mind came to me. The bed was neat and soft, and the quilt was just the right amount of fluffy. The moment I lay on it, my body was firmly supported, as if I was in the embrace of the clouds, just like the familiar bed at home, a good night's sleep is not a luxury.
The bathroom is clean and bright, and the toiletries are all available and neatly arranged.
Here, every detail reveals the care for the guests, and every service is full of care, allowing me to have the comfort and warmth of home in a foreign land, which is really unforgettable.

GGuest UserThe location was truly perfect! You can be in the middle of Nanjing East Road in less than 2 minutes and about 10 minutes from Waitan.
Unfortunately, it was seriously lacking in cleanliness. The entire hostel and the rooms had an unpleasant musty smell. The air conditioning also seemed quite old and musty.
Someone must have previously covered a suspected camera on the ceiling with paper. We discovered and covered a second suspicious camera. So be very careful!
We wouldn't book the accommodation again for the reasons mentioned.

The so-called window was just a small window in the bathroom. There was no window in the room. Please be careful when buying. There was air conditioning and hot water, that's it.
