Hotels in Hongqiao District, Shanghai

I visited Shanghai during the rainy season and chose to stay at the Mercure hotel for the first time, and everything went smoothly. Check-in was a breeze, and the room was clean, comfortable, and free from stuffiness, dampness, or any odd smells. If I needed laundry done, I'd just place my clothes in the laundry bag, hang it outside the door, make a call, and a staff member would come collect it. Within an hour or so, my clean, warm, and dry clothes would be returned – super convenient! I wish I had known, I would have packed fewer clothes. Food deliveries were brought up by a robot, so I didn't have to go to the lobby to pick them up. The room also came with four complimentary bottles of water, tea bags, and drip coffee. But I especially want to rave about the breakfast buffet (see picture below). I'd come back again just for the food; I seriously regret not having a bigger stomach, haha! Plus, all the staff were polite and professional. My stay was excellent, I honestly can't find a single fault.

This is an older guesthouse hotel, but the service quality of the staff is excellent, not inferior to international big brands. The doorman's performance was even better than at InterContinental or Marriott. The room had a musty smell, which might be due to the building's age, but the maintenance was decent. The wet and dry areas were separated, which was convenient to use. There were still some issues with the details: the bedside alarm clock showed the wrong time, and the phone didn't have the room number labeled on it.

Quite close to the metro station and to shopping mall area. Clean, big room, comfy bed, sofa etc. The only problem was that the 5G signal was weak in my room, but WiFi was quite fast. Also: washing machine is only available if you make a booking for at least a month worth of stay, so be careful when booking. It's weird, cause the washing machine is right there in the room, but the note attached to it says not to use it, so I didn't, even though the room description on trip.com says the washing machine is usable. I booked an option without a window, but was surprised to actually have a window with a so-so view. Maybe if you book the same option as me you won't get a window, so be careful.

## Environment Overall, it's pretty good. The lobby is bright and comfortable, and the rooms are simple and stylish. If I had one suggestion, it would be that the entrance often gets congested with vehicles, making it difficult to accommodate too many dropping off guests, which is especially inconvenient during the rainy season. ## Accommodation The bedding was comfortable, and the hygiene was acceptable, with no noticeable unpleasant foreign objects or stains. However, there was a faint, lingering smoke smell in the room, which was unpleasant for non-smokers and those who dislike smoking. ## Service The service was excellent. The front desk staff, housekeeping, and concierge were all very friendly and attentive. I had specifically requested a non-smoking room in my booking notes, and a non-smoking room was assigned at check-in. Unfortunately, upon entering the room, I could still smell a strong cigarette odor. When I brought it up, the staff quickly arranged a room change. The second room, unlike the first, had the lights on and the AC already blasting, so when I first entered, I genuinely didn't smell smoke. However, once I felt too cold and turned down the fan and adjusted the AC, the smoke smell reappeared. Considering it was getting late and I had already changed rooms once, I decided to make do for the night and not bother the staff again. Regarding smoke control, perhaps even the hotel staff can't be sure if guests secretly smoke in the rooms. Whether it's strictly enforcing the 'no smoking' policy beforehand or ensuring thorough odor removal afterward, as a well-known hotel brand, I hope this issue can be improved. The hotel has both smoking and non-smoking rooms. Different types of guests pay the same price and have reasonable requests, yet they don't receive equal treatment. Why should non-smokers always have to compromise for smokers?

I had a very satisfying stay. This hotel, under the HUAZHU group, is very close to the subway station, and there's a Grandjoy Mall and a Huiju shopping center nearby, so food and drinks are easily accessible. The front desk lady was super nice and patient, and even upgraded my room. The room was spacious and clean, almost like a brand new hotel. The washing machine, fridge, and microwave all worked great. I was so happy with everything that I extended my stay, and I would have stayed even longer if I didn't have other plans. Highly recommend!

I've been traveling for over a decade and rarely leave hotel reviews, but I just have to talk about this place: 1. **Great Location**: It's super convenient, very close to the subway entrance. I was surprised that it only took about 20 minutes to get to Hongqiao from the hotel's breakfast area, and there was no traffic either. 2. **Excellent Environment**: The hotel's atmosphere is lovely, and my child really enjoyed it. The breakfast spread was also fantastic. 3. **Friendly Service**: The front desk staff, including the ladies at the breakfast restaurant, were all incredibly friendly and helpful. 4. **Amazing Value**: The best part is the excellent value for money; it's affordable and practical. 5. **Amenities Nearby**: There are plenty of great restaurants and shopping options around the hotel. I'll definitely stay here again on my next trip to Shanghai.

I often choose Hanting hotels because they are standardized, clean, and have spacious, bright rooms with good soundproofing. It's not far from Metro Line 2, about a 10-minute walk. The hotel is in a very quiet location, without any noisy hustle and bustle around. I booked for two nights and had excellent sleep quality. It's convenient for getting around to all the attractions and also close to the high-speed rail station. I'll definitely choose this Hanting branch again when I visit Shanghai in the future. The staff member who checked me in even granted me a late check-out, which I really appreciate!

Great location, close to the subway. It faces the street, yet it's surprisingly quiet for sleeping. The facilities are new and smart, the service is excellent and heartwarming. They offered a free room upgrade, and all reasonable requests were met. The short-haired female staff member was incredibly welcoming and friendly. The hygiene is excellent and comfortable. Weiting Hotel is a great choice!

It was also incredibly easy to get food delivered, and with various restaurants, convenience stores, and fruit shops nearby, shopping for essentials was a breeze. All in all, it was a very satisfying stay, and I would definitely choose this hotel again on my next visit.

The hotel service was also incredibly attentive. We ended up extending our stay by two days due to Typhoon Haitang, and overall, it was a wonderful experience.
