The hotel is a walking distance to the famous Iyer Itam wet market. You can have breakfast here before walking towards the Kek Lok Si temple. The hotel room isn't a big one but it provides the basic amenities that one needs. Overall it is clean. Mini fridge, TV, hair dryer, water kettle and air cond all working well. The bed is comfortable too.
Loop on Leith is a modern yet comfortable hotel in downtown George Town, Penang island. It is located at within George Town UNESCO World Heritage Site. As the location, visitors may find that they are surrounded by the historical buildings with cultural values.
The hotel is equipped with restaurant and cafe on the lobby floor. The restaurant serves breakfast only. While the cafe serves snack and beverages at the lobby. Car and motorbikes parking was available at the basement floor. The rooms are designed with loop concept, so you may find that you will be going around a loop at each floor to reach the room.
The room itself was newly renovated. Size for the room was not so big. The room has complete amenities. In room WiFi speed was good. There was television set, tea and coffee making facities, safety box, mineral water, bathroom amenities (soap, shampoo, hand wash), hairdryer. Iron and ironing board was located at the public area.
Room rate was reasonable. With the paid room rate and the inroom facilities as well as breakfast, it was a worthed stay. Overall, it was a wonderful stay at this hotel. Check in process was speedy. The crew members offered warm and helpful service. You need to inform the reception for room cleaning on the next night stay.
Breakfast was included on each night stay. The breakfast was served at buffet style. There buffet spread consisted of sandwich, pudding, toast bread, slice fruit, vegetable salad, main course (nasi lemak or noodle soup, etc), egg, cereal, tea coffee, squash. The dining floor was spacious, clean, and comfortable.
The hotel was strategically located at the heart of Georgetown. It was just within 5-15 minutes walking distance to numerous famous eateries and places to visit. The hotel is within walking distance to Cititel bus stop of Penang City Area Transit as well as Rapid Penang buses stops at Chulia Street. It was not so hard to order e-hailing services from the hotel's lobby.
I booked this hotel for my parents cuz my father discharged from Gleneagles hospital.. this hotel is new and they even have the shuttle to different places and hospital too … my father had to go to the hospital for check up before 7am .. the manager offered them to drop them off earlier … their efforts for guests are superb .. I went to visit my parents .. the room is clean and new .. everyday also offer housekeeping … thank you.. and this is my parents second stay at this hotel.
The small boutique hotel is renovated from a historic building. Lobby looks fabulous. The staff are friendly and helpful. Check-in was fast with welcome drink. The room was comfortable and clean. Aircon is cold. The carpark is limited, first come first served.
Hotel closes to many attractions.
Our room was facing the front, opposite the food court and they have live music until 12 midnight.
The hotel is modern and very pretty! Love the decoration and design. It’s clean, the bed is comfortable (not the pillow) and I love the shower water pressure and the idea of having water dispenser for sustainability drive.
A few things that disappointed a little:
1. Was assigned to room 212 which is located close to lift, I barely slept on the first night. One group of guests walked pass ard 12:50am and were talking and laughing so loudly, followed by the loud door closing sound (no soft closing). Then another group came back around 1:45am and I woke up because of the loud door opening and closing sound (3 times)…the aircon was centralised and quite cold, tried adjusting to higher temperature with lower volume but the control parcel is useless. The pillow was not comfortable also, the cotton was not even, too high for my liking. Morning 8:45am the house keeping person tried accessing the store room and entered the wrong PIN code for a few times and the beeping sound was non stop and I woke up again :(
2. Thankfully we were changed to another room at level 3, I managed to sleep better for the 2nd and 3rd night. But when we came back on Day 3, I wanted to watch TV but the remote control was missing. We called the front desk for a few times but no answer around 11pm, had to go down and request for the remote control to be delivered to my room. Guess what, we waited for 15 mins but no one came, called again and finally the house keeping staff showed up after 5 mins. Then when we opened the door, he asked us multiple times that why it’s missing and even requested us to check drawers etc. we searched everywhere before we called, only being accused after waiting for 20 mins. Then waited another 5 mins for him to get a new one and came back. So speechless…
3. I like the free coffee service that they offer, however there’s no food options and no room service. Most of the nearby shops close early and it’s quite hard to find for food at night if you are hungry
4. Not all the staffs are very friendly, the lady receptionist that we encountered was not super friendly and helpful. She told me that when we came down, the replacement room would be ready but it’s not, I waited for another 5 mins standing there until she got everything sorted out. Felt that she was unwilling to help
The location of the hotel is very convenient. I just love the vibe and the environment. If me and my friend are lazy to head out, we can just go down have meal at their little cafe or even chill at the lounge bar. We also can borrow bicycles. But may hope to improve more for placing a bigger bottle to let us fill the water. So we dont have to keep refill many times as we drink a lots.
The hotel was great and provided a free-flow water dispenser. The bedsheet and blanket were clean and free from mites. Just a few suggestions for improvement: the toilet should be cleaned more thoroughly as there were some stains. The room could use additional lighting as it was a bit dim. Iron with an ironing board should be provided on each floor. Currently, the ironing facilities are only available near the reception area.
We had a great stay at BreakX Hotel Penang! The room was spacious, cozy, and beautifully designed with a modern touch. It came with two queen beds, which was perfect and very comfortable for the four of us. The price was reasonable for the size and quality of the room.
The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay.
The only downside was the soundproofing — we could hear kids crying and people talking from the room opposite, which was a bit disruptive at times.
Overall, a pleasant experience and we would still consider staying again!
Okay not bad for a night stay. Loved our stay at Upper House Penang! The boutique vibe was cozy yet stylish, and the rooms were clean, modern, and well-equipped. The location is super convenient — close to cafes, local eats, and Georgetown attractions. Staff were friendly and accommodating throughout our stay. A great place for couples or families looking for a comfortable and central base in Penang. Would definitely stay here again!

AAnonymous Userdecent sized room with gorgeous view, can see the mountain as well as the sea. Buildings nearby are very low, so you can see miles away. Professional staff especially at reception. They are carrying genuine smile and ready to assist. I would say they are more proactive than those five~star hotels i stayed in Penang and Langkwawi during this trip.
However i really wish staff at concierge (night shift) can be more cautious and careful when handling shipment including parcels delivered to the hotel. They could have checked the identity of the one who pick up the parcel instead of not validating and allow anyone to go over to the counter to pick up by themselves. in the end who will bear the responsibility if the parcel was lost?
GGuest UserPleasant Family Stay in Penang
We stayed one night with family and had a comfortable and enjoyable experience. The room and bathroom were spacious, clean, and very comfortable—perfect for families with kids.
The location is excellent, with many food options nearby. Even without the hotel breakfast, it was easy to find good local food in the area.
The kids really enjoyed the swimming pool, especially the mini water park with slides and a playground, although the pool area was a bit small.
One downside was the lack of basic in-room amenities like toothbrush and toothpaste, shower cap, cotton buds, soap bar, and a hair dryer.
Overall, a pleasant stay and a good option for families. Would stay again if basic essentials are improved.
WwithlikeFront desk service was friendly and very good.
Hygiene ok
Environment OK
The location is ok, 5-10 minutes walk, there are bars, convenience stores and food markets.
The facilities are average.
I don't recommend the bar in the hotel as it's very expensive. Although there are discounts on accommodation, they are still very expensive.
Overall review. . Good review 4.5 stars worth recommending.

AAnonymous UserReally love how clean the hotel and the room is. Furnitures in the bed room and bathroom area is so well maintained and super clean as if newly open. The bed is comfy with good aircon temperature. The water and drainage system works perfectly. The breakfast is good and the staff during the breakfast is very keen to help do the waffle.
The location is also great. I can walk out and face cute cafes and bars across the street. Around the block is the area full of historical buildings. The hotel is walkable to popular street like Armenian street, promenade and center of George town.
The only comment is it would be very good to have small sofa in the room next to the bed. With the non standard room type with more usable space, it’s better to add something extra to the room.
But overall is very good stay!
EElyana MazharIts was my 5th time here but this time with my beloved husband for our prehoneymoon vacay hehe.. Great environment, good amenities and for breakfast buffet variety can upgrade more in future yeah 👌

LLucky day!The location is very strategic and can assess to the tourist spots very conveniently. It is worthy to stay if you are travelling to penang for visit purpose. The room is also consider spacious for the price that it charged. There so many nice restaurants nearby the hotel too. Highly recommended.
