Second stay, as I moved to a non smoking room. The mattress in this room was spring and not as good as my other room but it was ok.
As I said in my other review, good products, good stay, it's not modern but it's comfortable. Very close to the station and food options within 5-10 minutes walk. Very helpful staff.
The room was clean, tidy and quiet, the breakfast was good and the washing was more convenient. The host is very nice and proactive and takes me to the station. Recommend this listing.
Here’s a polished review you can use:

The room is clean, cozy, and quiet — perfect for a relaxing stay. The bed is very comfortable, and the air conditioner works great with options for both cooling and heating. I especially enjoyed the bathtub, which was really nice.
The staff are very helpful and speak good English, making check-in and communication smooth. A simple breakfast of toast and coffee is included, like the orange jam!
The location is convenient, just a short walking distance from the main train station, and there’s even a free foot spa nearby — a lovely bonus!
Overall, a very pleasant stay. Highly recommended.
Great place to stay close to the train and us station. Staff super nice and friendly, they helped me accommodate on a quiet room as I'm a light sleeper.
Very recommended, I would definitely stay here again!
It's located near Wakayama Station, making it extremely accessible. Although it's a capsule hotel, the high ceilings and ease of changing clothes were great. It was clean and comfortable.
Encountered hot springs and water heaters broke
It was only in the afternoon that it was too late to change the hotel.
Although the hotel has arranged to go to another sister hotel to take a bath
But it's still not convenient,
Friends who do not wash public baths are good to boil water in the room to take a bath...
This hotel is conveniently located just minutes away from the Wakayama train station. It has very good value for money. We stayed in a japanese style room. It had everything we needed and it was also pretty clean. Overall, I would happily stay here once more, if I ever were to go to Wakayama again
It is a good spot for a solo traveler. Capsules are clean. Towels are provided. There is a small tea and coffee area at the entrance. They also have Chinese-standard plug in the capsule which was handy. Also, I likes the smell of wood.
The worst part is that if you come before check-in, nobody is in there, meaning you will have to stroll around and wait for 16:00.
#Praise#For mosquito control measures, hotel smell, bedding comfort, location, toiletries, room lighting satisfaction; I like this hotel so much! It is also an ideal hotel! The so-called ideal is that every aspect is very practical! Although there is no breakfast, there is a refrigerator microwave in the room. It is very convenient to buy and eat at the nearby convenience store supermarket. The room is large and the bathroom is large, and the toiletries are complete to even the curling stick! The kettle said that the insulation can be kept warm for one night, not to mention that it is so cheap not far from the station! I will only live here on the West Line in the future. ps: This ideal hotel comes from a 40-generation hotel that has lived in various large and small Japanese hotels in a variety of sizes and sizes. Lightning avoidance and mentioning that this store has no elevator, large boxes of passengers should be cautious.
Arrive at JR Shirahama Station and then transfer to the taxi for about 4 minutes. It is very close to Toretore market and can be reached on foot. The rooms are panda-shaped and spacious inside. Dinner and breakfast are buffet style
We stayed overnight at Saimonin, a Buddhist temple lodging, and it was a truly unique and memorable experience. The room was spacious and ryokan-style, with shared bathrooms and showers. Do note that the showers are only available from 5–9 pm. The corridors and rooms were quite cold, but turning the AC up to 30°C made the room warm and cosy—though the temperature difference between inside and outside was definitely noticeable. Dinner is served promptly at 6 pm: a beautifully prepared temple kaiseki-style vegetarian meal. We initially thought it might not be filling, but it was surprisingly plentiful. We ate seated on the floor in the main hall, each couple separated by a small divider and dressed in the provided yukatas, which added to the peaceful atmosphere. Breakfast is served at 7:30 am, right after attending the monks’ 7 am meditation session, which was fascinating to witness and added a strong spiritual element to the stay. There is a curfew at 9 pm, but we actually appreciated it—it encouraged us to slow down, unwind, and truly enjoy the tranquility of the temple environment. One thing that could be improved is access to hot water in the evening. We were given a thermos of hot water at check-in along with complimentary matcha tea bags and biscuits, which was lovely. However, by around 7–8 pm we would have liked to make more hot tea, but couldn’t find anyone around to ask. A simple hot water dispenser would make a big difference. The monks were very quiet, with minimal interaction, and there’s no communal space, so the experience is more individualistic than social. Overall, it’s a very different kind of stay and one we definitely recommend. It’s absolutely worth it for anyone seeking a serene and culturally rich experience.
You need to stay at Shojoshin-in if you come to Koyasan! There's an English speaking receptionist when you check in, a Chinese monk and you can always use google translate to communicate with the Japanese-only staff/monks! There's goma prayers at 1pm, a tour of the temple only for lodgers at 4pm, dinner served at 530pm (& the food is super flavourful), you can do sutra copying in your room (pay at reception) and pay for a handwritten goshuin as well! Shojoshin-in is the closest temple to Okunoin's entrance so its super convenient to do a night tour (run by an external vendor). Main doors close at 5pm but you can enter through the side door. I met a Japanese lady whom stays only at Shojoshin-in when she comes to Koyasan every year! I miss this place already :(
Great place to stay. We liked the on-property Onsen, bakery, and common kitchen space. We did not have a dog but enjoyed that it was dog friendly. We took the short walk to the beach and visited restaurants, shops, and nature views on foot also. We took the bus to Adventure World and saw some great animal shows.
Facilities: It has breakfast, which is especially important for those hiking the Kumano Kodo. The earliest bus to Kumano Kodokan, the closest stop to the hotel, departs at 6:47 AM. Breakfast starts at 6:30 AM, so you can leave right after eating without any delay. Cleanliness: Clean and good! The shower facilities are clearly labeled with different types. Environment: The hotel rooms offer breathtaking views, especially while waiting for the elevator. It perfectly captures the feeling of framing a view, a style often associated with both Chinese and Japanese culture. Service: Excellent! Seriously, as you can see from the many pictures I've posted, it's truly exceptional. Coffee and tea are available on the first floor. I was so lucky to choose this hotel for my Kumano Kodo hike; it's close to a FamilyMart, across the railway is a Lawson, and next to Kiitanabe Station is a 7-Eleven.
