The hotel has a strong sense of design and VI does a good job. The hotel is a 10-minute walk from the city centre. The space of room is large and the bed is comfortable. Although there are not many kinds of food in breakfast, they are good quality and there is freshly squeezed orange juice.

Stayed here one night on a cycling tour. On the positive side, our room was clean, large and spacious. Good sized modern shower room too. On downside, it was plain to the point of being Spartan, stank of drains from the bathroom and the two small windows were situated just below the high ceiling. They had metal covers rather than blinds or curtains so overall feel was cell-like. The hotel had provided large wooden stairs to climb up and reach one window but this contraption wasn’t easily moveable so for the other window you had to balance on a chair in order to close the steel doors at night. The smell of drains became intolerable. On checking out I mentioned it to the receptionist who was totally unconcerned and said it was usual when it rained. It hadn’t been raining when we checked in and other rooms occupied by our party were not affected but clearly they weren’t planning on investigating. It was ok for one night but I wouldnt choose to return.

What a suprisingly lovely hotel couldn't say anything bad about Luna hotel de tabua the staff are helpful and the reception speak very good English very friendly nothing to much trouble the breakfast was nice and lots of choice The room was clean and fresh and lots of wardrobe space Very nice place to stay would recommend it to any body We didn't eat in the restaurant so can't comment on the restaurant but was always busy in the evening when passing

Great location, wallking distance to the main tourists street with all restaurants & shops. Across the street from Coimbra train station. (Not Coimbra B) Beds are comfortable & the shower water pressure was amazing, their breakfast was great too, lots of fresh fruits, scrambled eggs, juice & all kinds if breads, pastries, coffee etc. The young ladies at the reception were so kind & caring. The room, bed & bathroom were all spacious.

It’s special but in an extremely good way. We booked this hotel in order to have a once in a lifetime experience sleeping in a Hästens bed. The hotel is located right in the middle of Coimbra, hence the access is through the pedestrian zone which you can access by car for unloading your luggage. Parking can be done across the bridge at the parking lot of the stadium. The entrance is located next to the playful sardine shop which you can find throughout the major cities in Portugal. It looks a bit hidden as the reception doesn’t look like a reception, tho and you might miss it. The whole building is decorated and designed in full detail and high quality. So are the rooms. The moment you walk in there is this wow-factor. And you need to look twice to recognize the shower. Roof top has an incredible great view of the river. Breakfast is great and we enjoyed it very much, so it is limited and served with an etagere but we liked it. Staff is always friendly and happy to help. Shout out to Lara from reception. She’s doing an incredible great job, has great recommendations for lunch and dinner and it was always a pleasure to talk with her. As far the Hästens bed: hand’t had the best sleep as indicated in the promo video but also not the worst. It was good sleep, tho.

The ”stories” are mostly about how easy they were to reach and how convenient they were for parking. ”Reaching” this one involved a 15-minute re-route, but once we took the right turn, parking was a breeze! The hotel sits opposite the retaining wall of the university above it. Guests can park all along the wall on the alley approaching the hotel and then place a parking permit on their dash. Finding the hotel in the first place was trickier! GPS had us approaching it. We were SO close! But we missed the last narrow, alley-like turn. Suddenly we had a 15-minute re-route until we could approach the hotel again. Play very close attention to your GPS!! Nice location. Nice room. Nice breakfast. Helpful staff.

Depois de um impressionante trajecto entre a vila de Côja e Piódão, pela estrada que volteia pela ”cordilheira” da serra do Açor, somos recebidos com simpatia e franco acolhimento, pela diretora e por todo o staff, fazendo-nos sentir ”em casa, fora de casa”. A decoração temática, alusiva à época natalícia, é esmerada e não um cantinho por decorar com bom gosto. Os quartos, têm amplas janelas para a montanha ou, como o nosso, para a famosa ”aldeia presépio”, parte da rora das aldeias históricas de Portugal. A vista e sempre deslumbrante e o silêncio uma bênção. O interior de design contemporânea, contrasta com a imporalidade do xisto, característico da região, que reveste as paredes exteriores do hotel, que coroa um dos cumes que ladeiam o vale onde se aninha a secular aldeia de Piódão. Os amplos quartos, com opção de casal, familiares e/ou comunicantes, são arejados e luminosos, primando pelo conforto das suas camas, da área de estar ou de leitura, têm disponíveis amenities como champô, gel de banho, touca, entre outros essências tão para os mais esquecidos ou para quem gosta de viajar com pouca bagagem. Todas as áreas são acessíveis a pessoas com mobilidade reduzida, incluída a piscina interior, não faltando espaços dedicados aos mais pequenos, para ”brincar às casinhas”, interior, ou desfrutar do baloiço ou escorrega, no bem cuidado jardim exterior com vegetação autóctone. As áreas comuns, são igualmente amplas, com generosas vidraças e/ou terraços que se abrem para a serra e onde se pode aptoveitar o sol, mesmo no inverno. O restaurante ”Serra do Açor”, serve o melhor da tradicional gastronomia beirã, onde não faltam os bons queijos ou famoso bucho, podendo optar-se por outras receitas. No igualmente farto buffet da consoada Natal não faltou o peru e ”fiel amigo”, nem as rabanas, os sonhos, as filhoses entre outras delícias doces ou salgadas, também presentes na ceia à ceia, assim como a famosa receita de cabrito no forno, servido no dia 25. Para terminar a noite em beleza, um café ou um digestivo, no bar, com confortável sala de estar, com lareira a combinar, tornando-o ainda mais acolhedor. Foi uma estada memorável que queremos repetir, em outras épocas do ano, ainda com mais tempo!

Yet, as a 4-star hotel, they didnt provide slippers and toothbrushes and toothpaste in the room...We checked in late and were exhausted, so didn’t want to ask for room service (we felt bad for not having small change for tips!) The white shower curtain was a bit gross (mouldy/ stained)...as well as their toilet seat (yellow stains underneath)

I used this hotel for a week during a conference and was very pleased with it. It had a high level of cleanliness and my room was spacious and well appointed. Best of all was the service. I arrived horribly late, almost 11.00pm, on my first night having not eaten since the morning, and was treated with great kindness by the person on the desk who made the effort of phoning around and arranging for a place in town to stay open for me to eat. She didn't need to, but she did. That set the tone for a good experience all week.

A very modern hotel with many facilities. A little out of the way from town centre but set in a more rural/residential area. Exactly what we needed after the hustle and bustle of downtown Coimbra. Excellent breakfast and superb dinner. Very reasonable price for the type of hotel it turned out to be.

We stayed here for 3 nights in April. I booked this hotel because it was reasonably priced and had a pool, which we were glad of because the weather was very warm. Our room was on the second floor and had a fridge and a safe, no kettle. Bed was comfortable, everything was clean and modern. The bathroom had a bath and shower. Our room overlooked the street but because it’s one street back from the main road it wasn’t noisy. The window was able to be opened (which I like because I like fresh air) and the air conditioning worked. The pool area is very nice, it was quiet while we were there, although I expect it gets busy as the season progresses. We did go in the outdoor pool although only briefly as it was a bit chilly, but we used the indoor pool and sauna a couple of times, plus the gym. The hotel is outside of the old town, it’s about a 15 minute stroll away. We arrived into Coimbra by train, the train station is about 20 minutes away on foot. There are some decent bars and restaurants not too far from the hotel and a big supermarket. This hotel is a good choice if you don’t want to stay right in the centre of the old town and want a nice pool to relax by. The large Forum shopping centre is just across the river, 20 minute walk. The guy who checked us in was very helpful and spent time explaining what to see and do. We would stay here again if we returned to Coimbra.

During my travels I always choose hotels with pools, as I like to relax in them in the morning and in the afternoon after exploring. That was also the case here in Coimbra. But, shortly after booking that hotel with a pool by Mondego river, I cancelled it when I saw pics of Solar Antigo. I sacrificed the pool and did the right thing. Solar Antigo is an amazing boutique hotel with a luxury touch. It consists of series of rooms in several historical buildings in old Coimbra, on top of the hill, close to the University. Each room is individually designed with amazing attention to details. Every inch of the room is carefully planned and beautiful with stylish furniture. We booked the ordinary room, but got an upgrade for a two level Jacuzzi room (probably God's compensation for that pool). The staff is so kind and welcoming - they waited for us almost until midnight to arrive. They provide free parking by the hotel in that tiny uphill street. Amazing views of Coimbra from your window. Breakfast is served in a basket and delivered to your room in the morning. You have 2 TVs, AC, bathrobe, coffee machine and a refrigerator with complimentary cooled bottle of champagne and couple of beers - unbelievable and unseen for a price of around 70 Euros a night for two people. The only problem is finding this jewel, specially at night when we arrived. But once there, all Coimbra attractions are in a very close walking distance. I must emphasize in terms of quality/price/location, Solar Antigo is one of the best hotels I've stayed in my 30 years of travel being in 500+ hotels in over 80 countries on all continents.

We were very happy with our two-night stay in Studio no. 12, which was spacious, tastefully appointed and had everything we needed. The host/manager Ricardo was very solicitous, regularly checking that we were satisfied and asking whether we needed anything. Our only real bone of contention had less to do with Sophia Studios and more to do with the location, with noise from the [busy] street outside and nightclubs and the like penetrating the fully closed windows and shutters. That aside, the location is excellent, within walking distance of everything you'll want to see.

Excellent location (across the road from the beach, good marina near by, plenty of restaurants walking distance). Very hospitable and friendly staff, quick and easy check in and out. Newly furbished rooms, very clean, ocean view balcony (I've had a free upgrade curtessy of hotel staff, as ocean view rooms were available). Great money value, affordable prices. Good breakfast. Good food at the restaurant, very good service. Good English spoken. Free Wi-Fi. Free parking available near-by. Rent-a-car facility walking distance. I stayed there twice, and will do again whenever I'm in the area.

I love this hotel for years, I had been here several times, many years ago, and after a several-year intercourse, for personal reasons, I returned to this hotel last October and again this August. Last year, I noticed the renovations in the rooms, and not only, and whenever I come back, I always seemed better. I used to go alone, but this time I took my parents who were equally enchanted (too more two members to the fashion club of this hotel). It is very comfortable, beautiful and cosy. We are very well received, with great sympathy and kindness. All staff, from reception to breakfast and cleaning, are of great sympathy, kindness and education. The rooms are very comfortable and comfortable, with beds and coats, equally comfortable, and WC with what is needed. The breakfast is very complete and appetiteful, we're just looking at everything so fresh. We can enjoy the gym, the swimming pools, the outdoor and the indoor, or, given the fantastic location, the streets and the beach, or walk in the wandering, it is great for those who seek peace, rest and simply relax. I'm already thinking when I'm going back ... How soon Quiaios Hotel!
