After spending three weeks traveling across China, I chose Joy Hotel for a well-deserved rest before heading home — and it was the right choice. The hotel is conveniently located very close to the airport, and the free shuttle service that runs every hour is a big plus.
The hotel itself is very clean, and despite being in the middle of nowhere, it offers great value. My room was spacious, had everything I needed for my three-night stay, and toiletries were available at the front desk. The stay also included breakfast, which had a wide variety of tasty options.
The only downside was the front desk service. The staff seemed inexperienced and at times distracted — possibly using personal phones or multitasking when guests needed help. It came across as a bit unprofessional, but something management could easily improve.
Overall, aside from the front desk and remote location, this hotel is an excellent choice if you’re looking for a quiet, comfortable place to recharge before flying out.

Everything considered, this is a great hotel in a very good location. The one thing that sets apart good and great places in china is an eagerness (from the staff) to help and provide a good service, and they are definitely proactive and eager!

The bad: room is small, we got room with no view, just bricks, alleyway has smoking smell, security operational is unsafe, staff download hotel app on their phone and ask for otp from guest for room or breakfast discount. no bidet for female. breakfast menu is limited with average taste. cutleries kind of dirty.
The good: location is great, near to nanyang pedestrian street, there is laundry room, lot of free water and tissue.

Underrated Hotel! Came here with low expectation since its a budget hotel, but the service and room is really great!
The checkin was fast considering we are foreigners who arrive midnight, and got upgraded into bigger room
Staff gave us some gifts before check out and its really kind of them.
Location is good enough, we got familymart next to our hotel and walking distance to nanjing road/ the bund area
The staff is really helpful to us. Teaching us about how to order food, and etc.
They've tried to communicate well with us too.
The room is enough for us to stay. It's clean too.
Thank you

I got a great deal and this was amazing value. Hotel staff were friendly and pleasant. The hotel is nice - lobby is good and the robot that brings deliveries is nice. Although the staff couldn’t speak English they always tried with google translate. The cleaning of my room was good and efficient and I liked the free water bottles. Only thing was as my room was right next to the elevator it was quite noisy. But thank you Yitel! I had a great stay.

The hotel located in the center of town, easy to walk to Bun and People square.
Many food shop, Starbuck close to hotel.
The room was renovated but a bit floor dirty (No issue).
The room is good for short period stay.

Amazing architecture ( but the most interesting part is closed to the public), wonderful location, mediocre rooms, the website promises: Breakfast type: Buffet (western, Chinese). This is a lie. When I asked for the Western breakast, I was told ”no western breakfast”. Considering that the airport is in the middle of one of the world's busiest international airports, the level of English is abysmal. The walls are thin (they even give you earplugs for the noise...) The manager refused to meet us to review our concerns, delayed communication by using front desk staff to block us. We checked out and moved to the new Holiday Inn which is also in the airport, it really cheered us up with its clean light colours and modern design!

This is a decent budget-friendly option. The room was clean, quite large and quiet and had a large fridge, microwave and washing machine and even a kitchen sink. You will need to have your own utensils and buy your own washing detergent though and also not sure where you would dry the laundry, but good options for people staying a bit longer. There is a lot of storage space for clothes and plenty of seating areas. This is a 10-15 minute walk from Loushanguan Road station, and close to the malls and cafes and restaurants. The hotel takes a 300 rmb deposit which is returned once you leave. The one downside is that there can be a strange smell in the room which tends to leave once the windows are open or AC is turned on.

GGuest UserThe hotel has a great environment, and it feels like a quiet retreat in a busy city. As soon as you go out, you will see Binjiang Avenue, which is very comfortable for a walk. The transportation is quite convenient, and you can reach the subway station by bike or on foot. The surrounding takeaways are also quite developed, and robots can deliver meals directly to the door of the room.
GGuest UserThe location is great and staff service is 100%. We managed to top up a lil to check in earlier. Price is affordable and room was ready almost immediately. We tried ordering take outs and was assisted by the staff politely and patiently. The only cons is the cleanliness of the room. When we checked in, the room was abit dusty. But was sorted out immediately too. Thanks for the stay.
SSemi Retirement TravelGreat place. The lobby is slightly run down which makes me worried about the room, but the actual room is great. We were given the high floor room and it had a great view of the city. Clean room, washing machine, hanging rack and projector for large screen viewing. Metro entrance just beside. A mall below and a food street just beside it. Lots of varieties food choice. Great for getting supper and bringing it up to the room. Will book again in my next trip to Shanghai.
CChongThe lobby had undergoing renovations which caused no AC and limited walking pathway for everyone. The first experience was not that good and the way to the lift also narrow (need to be careful during rainy day as the floor would become slippery)
The front desk employees were super busy during peak hours. One of the ladies was annoyed when I asked for the location of the rack to pick up my food delivery, her tone was not friendly at all. Perhaps it was morning and she was engaged with works on screen. One of the robot always under maintenance, so I came few times to downstairs to pick my food but it is still convenient to stay in this hotel as the station is just beside the hotel.

GGuest UserThe toilet without a door. Room clean. Location is good not far from supermarket. That everything is ok but we found some staff is not good attitude (Just 1 staff not everybody)

WWei MinSummary: I will rebook this place if I ever come back to shanghai disneyland. Value for money
Cleanliness
Overall acceptable
One of the wall had dust
Obscure corners and areas had dust
The toilet floortrap was not cleaned daily but it is fine
Floor under the bed is clean
Services
Apparently only a 1 way either to Disneyland or from disneyland is available per night of stay.
We stayed for 3 nights so we get 3 trips. But we went to Disneyland for 2 days. So we needed 4 trips. The owner was kind enough to give us a free trip back. If not it will be charged at 25 CNY per trip.
Amenities
We booked the romantic long room. There are 3 types of this room with different names. The room floor area is large but almost 50% is outdoor space.
We could not switch off the lights for the first night as we could not find the switches. It was actually hidden behind one of the bed frames.
The visible switches were not in use.
The smart function of the lighting's covered 50% of the lights and 50% of lights were manual
There is NO HEATING even in winter. It is NORMAL for shanghai.
But the toilets were too much. There was no heated lights no heater in the toilet area. No space to hang clothes. The toilet is not opaque/ no curtains. Strictly meant for couples. No privacy.
The toilet bowl was heated and that was nice. It has a bidet function.
No hand soap at the basin but we brought our own soap so we simply switch out the soap to use as hand soap.
We could not figure out the setting but there might be heating? For the overall room. There was a thermostat that was set at 30 degree Celsius but overall still cold
Some inbuilt furniture looks old and worn out but you won't use it so it is fine.
Cupboard
Hanging area was limited but it has a canopy of sorts so we hanged it around there. So no issues with this
Bed
2 pillows per person was provided.
Comfortable
Under the bed was clean.
Floor space
Limited as 50% was outdoor
Kudos to cleaning under the bed
I put 50% of my luggage on walking area and 50% under the bed
My fiancé placed his on the side of the bed
Furniture
1 chair 1 table inside the room
2 chairs and 1 table outside the room on the verandah
Too cold to use but the owner did decorate the verandah with nice walkways and sweet walls
There is a nice and long countertop below the TV which was great for putting stuff
The room was airy
Breakfast was hot and filling. No variety. Same for all 3 days that we were there. 7 to 9am only.
FFaz #KakikoyurThe hotel had a nice Shanghai vibe and we loved the location, but unfortunately, the lights in our room were broken. We reported it to the receptionist during check-in, but no action was taken throughout our stay—even up to the day we checked out.
GGuest UserThe Weiting Qingju is a hidden gem. This hotel was a real surprise. Given the price point we were paying for a Suite, our expectations were not super high. As with a lot of hotels in China, the exterior and lobby can be a bit ordinary, but there are wonderful surprises inside. On the room floors, there is a definite 4-star hotel feeling. Understated elegance with good ambience, lighting and, as we quickly noticed, there is air freshener pumped in, so the hotel has a pleasing fragrance. The Suite we stayed in was lucky number 8888 - a fourth floor room in the ”roofline,,” so to speak, which lends the room a quixotic and very unique feel - but if you are over 6 feet tall, mind your head in places! A very lovely Suite and just really incredible value for the money. The couple running the breakfast were very nice and welcoming. It is a basic breakfast, but very filling. We will definitely stay at the Weiting Qingju again if the opportunity arises.

HHà Huyền KRMy family stayed at Ji Hotel Lujiabang for 5 nights, and overall, we had a pleasant experience. Here are some highlights of our stay:
• Location: The hotel is conveniently located on a main road, just a short walk from Lujiabang Road Metro Station. It’s easy to access popular attractions such as Yuyuan Garden, The Bund, and even Disneyland.
• Breakfast: The breakfast was delicious. As a foreign guest, I truly appreciated the chef’s kindness in preparing noodles specially for me.
• Room: On the first night, we stayed in a room without a window, which felt a bit stuffy. Fortunately, we were able to move to a room with a window on the second day. The new room was more spacious and airy.
• Facilities: The hotel provides a free self-service laundry and dryer facility on B1, which was very convenient for us during the long stay.
If we return to Shanghai, we would definitely stay at this hotel again.
