This is a decent hotel, right next to Shinsegae Department Store, and directly outside Exit 7 of Hoehyeon Subway Station. There's a large ramp leading up to the lobby on the first floor, but you have to go to the seventh floor to check in. It seems like there's a police station building nearby with an escalator that takes you right to the lobby entrance.
The hotel gave me a room on a higher floor, the 25th floor, which I believe is the top floor for guest rooms, but it was a corner room. The room layout was a bit odd; the room itself wasn't very big, with not much space beyond the bed, but the bathroom was exceptionally large, almost the same size as the room. There was a connecting door to the adjacent room, which was a suite. From the layout, this room seemed designed as a maid's room for the adjoining suite. When I complained about the corner room to the front desk, I was told that all rooms of this type are corner rooms, likely due to the design. Those who dislike corner rooms should consider this carefully.
The mattress in the room was exceptionally high. Before arriving, I had requested a baby crib, but the hotel didn't reserve one for me that day and instead provided a rail. This rail was hard to describe – it made little difference from having nothing at all. There's a tablet by the bed that controls the mattress and air conditioning. You can directly order bath towels, water, ice, etc., and even send text requests to the front desk.
The hotel appears to be a recommended hotel by LV. Upon check-in, I received an invitation to the LV exhibition, where you could get an LV canvas bag at the Shinsegae LV exhibition across the street. Overall, the hotel is quite good, with medium value for money.From€210

Facilities: The hotel is well-equipped. Although it's located halfway up a hill, there's a shuttle bus for tourists to Myeongdong and Hannam-dong, and it's also very convenient to call an Uber or a taxi right outside. If you don't go out, you can easily spend half a day at the hotel's swimming pool and gym during the day, and the lobby bar in the evening has a great ambiance with live music.
Ambiance: The hotel has a very old-money feel. The window views are beautiful, and the colors of the mountain forest change with the seasons, which I imagine would also change one's experience of the hotel. The rooms are very beautiful; I highly recommend a mountain-view room.
Service: The service is exceptionally attentive, breaking away from traditional Korean service. There are staff members at every point, especially in the gym and dining areas, who guide you, so you won't feel lost or confused when you go by yourself.From€313

The airport bus goes directly to the hotel, and the service was impeccable from the moment I got off the bus until check-out. All the staff spoke excellent English and were proactive in helping with luggage, giving directions, and even making change. The location is also fantastic; I could walk to duty-free shops, Myeongdong, and other places. The nearby BBQ restaurants were also delicious. This hotel is perfectly located! It's just south of Seoul City Hall Square and west of Myeongdong. The subway station is only a few dozen meters from the lobby entrance, and Sejong-daero is right to the west. It's also not far from the major palaces and Namsan, so the location couldn't be better. While the facilities might feel a bit more compact compared to newly built five-star hotels in China, they are well-maintained and perfectly adequate. The hotel's location is excellent, very close to the subway and bus stops. You can easily walk to the Hanok village near Changdeokgung Palace, and Gwangjang Market is also very nearby. At the eastern end of the market, there are fruit shops, so you can really indulge in fresh fruit. Downstairs, there's a supermarket that seems to be open all the time, so no matter how late you come back, you can always find something to buy. We were given a room facing north, which offered fantastic views of the mountains and the palace. It's also conveniently located near Lotte Duty Free and Shinsegae, and there are convenience stores nearby, so the location is quite good. After arriving late at night, I spoke to the front desk, and they brought three new sheets that were noticeably cleaner. We spread them out and slept for the night. This hotel is fantastic! To get there, take airport bus 6015 and get off at Namdaemun Station. The hotel is located in the alley directly opposite where you get off. Just cross the road via the underpass, and it's a maximum 10-minute walk. It's also incredibly close to Myeongdong. If you exit the other end of the alley, it's a three-minute walk, and a right turn will lead you to an underground shopping center. From there, you can access Lotte Department Store through several entrances, or keep walking to exit 18 which leads directly to Myeongdong Shopping Street – perfect for avoiding the sun during the day. I highly recommend this hotel; the breakfast is excellent with a self-service ramen machine, and there were many Western guests. They provide disposable slippers and two bottles of mineral water. The room is cleaned, but they don't fold the duvet. Check-in was easy; even with a bit of gesturing and guessing, there were staff who spoke Chinese, though you might not always encounter them. I didn't experience any unfriendliness. This hotel is far superior to the Ibis I stayed at later near Myeongdong. If you're going to Seoul, this hotel is highly recommended for its convenience to attractions and shopping, plus direct airport bus service for your return. Lotte, Shinsegae, and Myeongdong Shopping Street are all within a 10-minute walk.From€111

The room size was just right, not too big, not too small, and it had a balcony with a great view for watching the sunrise – absolutely stunning! I’ve uploaded pictures of the view at different times of the day for everyone’s reference. The transportation is incredibly convenient; there are several subway lines right downstairs to choose from, and as soon as you step out, there are all sorts of dining options. The mall is also right downstairs, making it super easy to buy anything you need! Most importantly, I love to run, and this hotel is very close to Cheonggyecheon Stream, which is a dream come true for running enthusiasts! It's a 5km one-way run, making it 10km round trip! Right across from Lotte Duty-Free and less than a 5-minute walk to Shinsegae Duty-Free, making it incredibly convenient for shopping. Its location is comparable to the Aloft nearby but significantly better than Voco (which requires a bit of a detour). If you're here for serious shopping, this location will definitely save you time and effort.
## Room & Facilities
The room size is similar to Aloft's – both are on the 'compact' side. It's a bit smaller than Voco, so if you have a lot of luggage, you might want to reconsider. The hotel is located within a mixed-use building, so you'll need to go to the 9th-floor lobby for check-in. Waiting for elevators during peak hours can be a bit of a pain. There are free luggage lockers on the 9th floor lobby, which are very convenient to use.
## Service & Details
The service was adequate, neither exceptionally good nor bad. However, there's a noticeable drawback: my Trip.com reservation explicitly requested a 'high floor,' but I was given the 11th floor (guest rooms are on floors 10-18). This compromised both the view and the quietness. I recommend calling ahead to confirm or actively requesting a higher floor upon arrival. The central air conditioning noise from the adjacent building runs 24/7, which somewhat affected my sleep.
## Alternatives
Next door is Ibis. If you're not sensitive to floor level or room size, you could compare prices for the same location and pick whichever is cheaper.

If you're looking for ultimate convenience and don't mind a smaller room or the occasional elevator wait, this place is worth considering. However, if a great view, spacious rooms, or a high-floor experience are important to you, I suggest lowering your expectations or looking elsewhere.From€119

This is my second time staying at Hotel Sky Park 3, and I would definitely book again if I visit Korea in the future.
The check-out process was very quick, and the staff were friendly throughout my stay. I even arrived early, and the receptionist kindly helped me check in before the official time, which I really appreciated.
All the staff were polite and always greeted guests when entering and leaving the hotel. The service overall was excellent. The room was very clean and comfortable.
If you stay in a room with a window, you can even enjoy a view of Namsan Tower, which is a nice bonus.

This is a well-established Korean hotel, and the service was excellent. I left something in the room and only remembered the next day. The housekeeping staff had already tidied it up and kept it safe. When I called to ask, they immediately brought it back to my room! A special thanks to the handsome gentleman at the front desk who delivered it to my room. The triple room was spacious enough, and the hygiene was also very good. Even with my 'tired legs,' it only took me 10 minutes to walk to Myeongdong, it's very close. Cheonggyecheon is 5 minutes away, and Gwanghwamun subway station (line 3) is also just 5 minutes away. Right outside is the airport bus 6701, which goes to Incheon Airport for 18,000 Korean won – very comfortable and convenient. There's also a super large sofa, big enough for an adult to sleep on! The hotel's location is excellent. It's within walking distance to Myeongdong and Gwangjang Market, and both subway and bus stations are very convenient. There are also many convenience stores downstairs like CU, GS25, and 7-Eleven.
Hygiene: Although the hotel is a bit old, it was very comfortable to stay in. The room was quite spacious, with a separate toilet area and even a balcony. It was exceptionally clean. The water dispenser and ice machine in the hallway were a huge plus. What's more, you need to swipe your card not only for the elevator but also for the hallway, and then again to enter your room, which made me feel much safer. The only slight inconvenience was having to stand in the bathtub to shower.
Service: The hotel staff were all incredibly enthusiastic, whether it was during check-in, recommending local eateries, or helping to turn on the iron. Highly recommended!From€111

The room is nice, and the location is excellent, making it convenient for shopping and dining. The self-service laundry is also great, costing 4000 KRW for washing and 4000 KRW for drying, with an additional 1000 KRW for detergent. The only downside might be the round sink in the bathroom, which tends to splash water onto the floor, making the slippers slippery. I suggest improving this. Everything else was quite good! We extended our stay for a day due to the typhoon, and the price was almost the same as the original, which was very fair. ^_^

This was the most satisfying hotel on my trip to Korea. The overall decor is on par with a 4-5 star hotel in China, and the room is very spacious with plenty of functional areas. The bathtub was great for a shower with excellent water pressure. They even thoughtfully provided pajamas. The transportation is super convenient, just a 5-minute walk from Mapo Station. It's very close to Hongdae, Yeouido, and Seoul Station. The best part is that it's in a residential area with a fantastic food street nearby. Originally, I booked a hotel in Gangnam, but considering factors like shopping and sightseeing, I decided to switch to Voco Myeongdong at the last minute. Overall, I'm quite satisfied.
In terms of service, from the front desk reception to the lounge, the swimming pool, and breakfast, every staff member was smiling and dedicated to providing excellent service. It was really good.
For dining, the breakfast selection was extensive and the food tasted great. Enjoying a hot bowl of Vietnamese pho in the morning was very comforting. The lounge also had a good selection; happy hour offered three hot dishes, along with cold platters, desserts, drinks, and alcoholic beverages, all of high quality.
The room was also quite satisfactory. It was well-equipped with all sorts of amenities. The first round of the mini-bar was complimentary every day, and the quality was decent. The smart toilet and bathtub were very convenient. There were also USB and Type-C chargers. The only minor issues were that the USB charging port seemed to be of poor quality and often disconnected. The 0.8m bed was a bit narrow, and there was a slight risk of falling off when turning over. Also, upon check-in, there were two bottles of shampoo and one conditioner in the shower, and I had to inform the front desk to get a bottle of body wash sent up. Furthermore, the swimming pool closes quite early, at 8:00 PM.
The location is truly excellent. There's a subway station and several bus stops right downstairs. From the lounge, you can directly see Namsan Tower. Namdaemun Market is right across the street, and it's a direct walk to Lotte and Shinsegae Duty-Free Department Stores, as well as Myeongdong's main shopping street, making it very convenient for shopping. The hotel also has a GS25, Burger King, and coffee shops, making it incredibly easy to grab a bite or a drink.
I would definitely choose this hotel again next time.From€142

I chose this hotel again, and it felt like rooms were a bit tight during the summer. This time I booked a king-size room; the bed was quite large, but the room itself was a bit small. In hindsight, the first room I stayed in was the most spacious, even though it didn't have a view.
Aside from the slightly smaller room, everything else was great. The view outside the window was nice too. I'm not sure if it's because I stay here often, but this time they even gave me complimentary chocolates, which was a lovely surprise.
I was very satisfied with the softness of the bed; it was super comfortable to sleep on. The air conditioning in the room was also incredibly powerful; sleeping under the duvet was so refreshing. The room temperature was perfect, to the point where I always had the illusion that it wasn't hot outside, even though Seoul has been scorching recently.

However, one aspect we found disappointing was the strict minimum spending requirement per guest. We were traveling with children, yet regardless of their age, we were required to meet a minimum spend of approximately $150 per person to be seated at both the terrace restaurant and the Japanese restaurant. Even at the Italian restaurant, we felt pressured to order both appetizers and main courses for the children. For this price point, the basic room hygiene was excellent, no complaints there! But apart from that, everything else was a letdown. If you're looking for a comfortable and convenient trip, this isn't the place.
Location and Dining: The hotel is located on a mountain with a great view, but don't even think about walking anywhere. Besides a duty-free shop nearby (which is mostly frequented by personal shoppers), even getting a taxi is a hassle.
For breakfast, be prepared to wait an hour. The front desk suggested I go before 7 AM to avoid the queue, which, to be fair, made breakfast quite good. When I checked in, I also inquired about dinner and good restaurants. The front desk staff claimed all their hotel restaurants were famous and delicious, especially the Japanese one. When I asked them to make a reservation for us, they said reservations usually needed to be made 30 days in advance. Fine.
Then I thought, I'll just grab a coffee at the hotel cafe. Another wait... at least 30 minutes. Ugh...
Returning to the hotel on the second evening, I found the lobby packed with people queuing all the way to the door, like a bustling market. They were all lining up for the buffet. If your F&B is that good, why bother with the hotel? Guests staying here can't even get a table because it's full of outside diners.
The swimming pool was the same – tiny and completely overcrowded, impossible to actually swim. There must have been at least 50 people in there; it was more like a hot tub than a pool. Honestly, apart from sleeping, nothing else was good.
Let's talk about the service: It felt like they were particularly reluctant to serve Chinese guests. When checking out, my child and I were carrying our luggage out, and there were many staff standing in the lobby who didn't offer to help. It was only when a car pulled up outside that someone came to assist us with our bags. What were all those people standing around in the lobby doing then?
After my luggage was loaded, I got into the car and looked out the window to see the person who just helped me with my bags using my car window as a mirror to fix his hair. Hilarious! (This happened at 7 AM Korean time on the 19th).
For this price, you're better off staying in Gangnam. Josun Palace is much better and similarly priced.
To be honest, I'm very disappointed. It's a beautiful hotel, and the staff are all good-looking, but they clearly haven't been properly trained. I hope whoever cares about this hotel sees this review and seriously considers whether you are in the F&B business or hospitality. My experience of your hospitality was very poor.

🍜 Shanghai: Chinese tradition and restaurants for every taste
Food in Shanghai is quite different. There are street food stalls here, yes, but the real draw is its local cuisine and the huge range of international dining options.
- Xiaolongbao: the famous soup dumplings.
- Shengjianbao: pan-fried, golden-brown stuffed buns.
- Hairy crab: the true star of autumn (we recommend trying it between October and November).
- Noodles, dim sum and regional cuisine from all over China. You know, the classics.
As for places to eat, if you want to try the best xiaolongbao, Din Tai Fung or Jia Jia Tang Bao are safe bets in Shanghai.
For a special dinner, the French Concession is home to some of the city's best bistros, while on The Bund you'll find Michelin-starred restaurants with spectacular skyline views. That said, eating cheaply in Shanghai is still very easy. A good meal costs from £3.5, and a mid-range restaurant usually costs between £13 and £23 per person.

Located in a prime downtown spot, it's convenient for getting anywhere. Downstairs is very lively with restaurants, a food street, and a shopping complex all in one.
During weekdays in summer, there were many foreign guests... and quite a few elderly Chinese too. The front desk often had queues for check-in, and there were always people waiting for taxis outside. Business was really good, yet the room offered excellent value for money!

Fantastic central location, right opposite People's Square, close to 3 metro lines including Line 2 which goes almost everywhere (and to the airport in 1 hour), and connected to a huge shopping mall adjacent to the hotel.
We had a late arrival due to a flight delay, but the staff was available for check-in.
The breakfast was magnificent with a great selection of savory, sweet, Chinese, and continental options – something for everyone, plus superb freshly squeezed orange juice.
The family suite was immense, though a bit dated, but it suited us perfectly. Housekeeping was done daily.
I was able to communicate with the concierge via WeChat beforehand, and they were very kind.
The only reason I'm not giving a 10/10 is that we didn't receive any information about dining at the hotel's restaurants, visiting the bar, or going to the swimming pool.
For the pool, we had to find its location ourselves, and it was complicated to figure out which floor it was on relative to our building. We were on the 9th floor: we had to go down to the 8th floor, cross into the adjacent building where the 8th floor became the 6th, and then go up to the 8th floor of the new building 😛 It was hard to figure out and understand where we needed to go. The pool and jacuzzi are great and felt wonderful after a day of sightseeing. Swim caps are mandatory but provided by the lifeguard if you don't have one.

Service: Before checking in, I read many reviews complaining about the check-in staff. I definitely experienced it myself. All the staff avoided eye contact; it was hard to find someone to help with check-in, and everyone seemed busy.
There was a young man near the elevator entrance who suggested not standing there. He would just lower his head and walk away when he saw guests; I don't know what purpose it served to have someone standing there.
The bellhop at the luggage storage was enthusiastic, but I suggest increasing the refrigerated storage space and training staff. They shouldn't advise guests to carry their refrigerated items with them when checking out, especially on such hot days; it's better to leave them in the air-conditioned hotel.
The staff at the entrance who helped with luggage and opened car doors were polite, and their service was appreciated.
Some of the hosts at the breakfast restaurant were very warm and friendly. Others were not, and some were only friendly towards Japanese guests. The chefs at the cooking stations were all excellent, and the food was delicious.
Facilities: Older hotels always have shortcomings in their hardware. As soon as I exited the elevator on the guest floor, I smelled dust, and there was a musty smell in the room. The shower equipment was old and difficult to use, the washbasin was quite low, and the small magnifying mirror for makeup/removing makeup was broken; either you had to hold it up very high to see your face, or it would fall down and still not work. This can't be changed in the short term, so it needs renovation.
During renovations, I suggest not installing mirrors facing the bed again. I slept very poorly at night.
Cleanliness: The cleanliness was much better than I expected. There was no dust in the nooks and crannies, which was a pleasant surprise.
Noise: The room was very close to the elevator, but surprisingly, there was not much noise, which was acceptable. However, there was a regular rumbling sound, which I suspect was the subway passing by; it was very noticeable. The sound disappeared after the subway stopped at night and reappeared in the morning.
Overall, it was not a very pleasant experience, but I've tried it. I won't choose this hotel again.From€99

We booked this eco-friendly hotel for 3 nights. The hotel is very conveniently located: there's a metro station nearby, as well as two shopping centres. The hotel is large, but there was quiet and peaceful.
The view from the window was beautiful, even despite the typhoon that was hitting Shanghai these days (our room was on the 12th floor. We chose the hotel because of its location and good breakfasts. The breakfasts were really very delicious and tasty.
There was both Chinese and European food. A wide selection of fruits: watermelons, melons, apricots, mangoes, bananas, dragon fruit. There were many different pastries, several types of yogurts, even matcha yogurt.
Also, at the exit from the restaurant, there was a Candy Bar with chewy marmalade: you can put the marmalade in a small bag.
The room had everything, including a capsule coffee machine, an ironing board, and an iron, which is very convenient. l'd especially like to mention the eco-friendly slippers, which really stand out from the slippers in other hotels: they're very comfortable. Breakfast is served on the first floor and is available until 11 AM on weekends. The breakfast itself is truly commendable: a wide variety of fresh, delicious food, and excellent service. I would definitely return just for the breakfast.
Dolores provided great service, making check-in very fast. There's also a turndown service. When I called the front desk because my foot was chafed, they quickly sent up band-aids and alcohol swabs.
The room has a vanity table, but the smart toilet and hairdryer are a bit old-fashioned; it would be a bonus if they were updated later. The bedding is a tiny bit firm, but I still slept very comfortably. The room also has wireless charging for watches, headphones, and phones, which is very thoughtful.
The bathroom is much better than the one at the Andaz next door. Since both the bathtub and shower are within the glass door, there are no strange odors.

I've always wanted to experience The Portman Ritz-Carlton, Shanghai. After all, the hotel's location is truly unbeatable, and as a fan of The Ritz-Carlton, I had certain expectations for its service.
First off, the location is truly beyond words. It's right in the heart of West Nanjing Road, with Plaza 66, the Exhibition Center, and Kerry Center just outside the door. Shopping and dining are incredibly convenient.
Secondly, I specifically booked a room with Executive Lounge benefits, and as expected, The Ritz-Carlton's executive privileges were exceptional. Besides five meals a day (the evening canapés were especially good), I also made use of the luxury car pick-up and drop-off service within a 2-kilometer radius of the hotel.
Finally, I must especially highlight the hotel's service. Although the hotel's facilities are showing their age and can't compare to many newly opened hotels, the overall service truly added a lot of value. I'd like to extend a special thanks to Audrey, the Assistant Front Office Manager, who was incredibly kind, efficient, and thoughtful. She perfectly arranged all the needs for our stay with a child. Coincidentally, it was Qixi Festival (Chinese Valentine's Day), and she thoughtfully sent flowers, which absolutely enhanced the romantic atmosphere.

Checked into the Fairmont Peace Hotel in Shanghai. For standard rooms, you check in on the first floor, but if you book a Fairmont Gold room, you can go straight to the 9th-floor executive lounge to check in, which is nice as you don't have to wait in line.
