Friendly staff and good location. I ordered some packages to let it deliver at baseLITE but I didn’t know what the address on trip.com wasn’t 100% correct, so the delivery man couldn’t find it. However the friendly staff helped me fixed it, because my Chinese is not super good. Make sure you go to the right entrance because one is for apartments I guess and the correct one is the one you need to go through a hallway. My room was very spacious and clean. I love the amenities like the fridge, desk, mirror, and stairs to the bed. In the bathroom you could hear some loud noise sometimes which is maybe the metro? But if close the door you don’t hear it that loud. Location was amazing because it’s right next to a metro stop and xintiandi, and other areas are super close.

Location is right in middle of tourist area.
All within walking distance.
Water pressure is super good.
Beds are good and the room that I booked is so spacious that I can fit 3x 30” luggages + 3 backpacks and yet can move freely in the room.
The only issue is with the bathroom & toilet doors that are not easily closed

A very satisfying and pleasant stay at Mercure Yu Garden for 6 nights. The staff here are friendly and helpful. The room is spacious, clean and comfortable. Free drinks, coffee, tea and cookies are provided in the room. The breakfast has many varieties and delicious. Supper is provided. Shuttle bus is provided. Recommended!

it's super strategic area. less than 5 mins walk to YuYuan Garden. Hotel is surrounded by many souvenir shops, restaurants and many shops.
love the room. minimalistic, clean design and simple. love the fluffines of te quilt.

This was the best of 3 hotels that we stayed in during our Shanghai trip. Will definitely want to stay here again when we come back to Shanghai.
Pros: Spacious and clean room which gave the kids space to roam around. Location was also great, especially since the train’s exit closest to the hotel had an escalator which was good cause we had a stroller. There is also a bakery and fast food restaurant just steps away for a quick bite. Great service from the staff who always greeted with a smile and special thanks to 以墨 and 南星 who very proactive in helping us, from helping to rearrange a delivery of my parcel, bringing them to my room and helping with our luggages.
Cons: The toilet tiles can get extremely slippery when wet. There is a small anti-slip mat placed inside which helped but we still had several near-slip incidents. There was also some renovation going on which was a little disruptive.

Everything else except for the rooms is pretty dirty and run down. Especially the carpets in the halls make the whole place stink like crazy. There's also a slight cigarette odor, like in many other hotels in China. Rooms are ok, but nothig amazing by a long stretch. Finding the hotel is quite difficult. In fact, the name under which we booked was literally nowhere to be seen. The elevator lobby looks really random and you have no idea you are entering the hotel. At first, they tried to put us in a room that is one class below the one we ordered, so keep an eye on that and check the photos when you first enter the room. Otherwise, the staff was quite helpful, although I don't really understand why they only have 2 people at the front desk most of the time. It seemed to me they were terribly busy, and this didn't have much time to react to enquiries. Hotel of this size should probably have a few more people there.

Recently had the pleasure of staying at the Renaissance Shanghai Yu Garden Hotel, perfectly situated near The Bund and the iconic Yu Garden. From the moment I arrived, the service was warm, attentive, and truly made me feel at home.
The room was spacious, impeccably clean, and offered breathtaking views of Shanghai’s skyline. The location is ideal for both sightseeing and business, with easy access to many of the city’s landmarks.
What made my stay even more memorable was the thoughtful gesture from the hotel — a beautifully presented stamp collection featuring Shanghai’s landmarks and culture. It was such a unique and meaningful gift, reflecting the city’s charm and the hotel’s attention to detail.
Overall, the Renaissance Shanghai Yu Garden Hotel exceeded my expectations with its excellent hospitality, prime location, and special touches that make guests feel valued. I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Shanghai.

The location is excellent, just a short walk to Yu Yuan, and the room itself was comfortable, though some areas of the hotel, especially the front of the hotel entrance, feel a bit dated.
Check-in was the main downside. We arrived at 5:30 PM but were told all the rooms weren’t ready, and despite requesting same floor rooms in advance, it took quite awhile to arrange 1 room for us. Even after returning from dinner, 10PM the front desk service felt a bit overwhelmed and inattentive, not sure if this is because of summer school break.
Overall, this hotel works for a short stay if you don’t mind some waiting at check-in. For families with kids or those expecting seamless service, it may not be the best fit but for travelers who prioritize location, it’s still worth considering.

Good location but take note no drive thru lobby so Didi or taxi pickup / drop off on side road so need umbrella if raining. Short 10 mins walk to Yuyuan garden. Can even walk to xintiandi if willing to trudge approx 20 mins. Didi is much faster and simpler.
Great breakfast variety but not much seating space so may need to share tables if raining as cannot seat outside.
Hotel is old but refurbished well. Wooden flooring and has good strong aircon.
Small mini mart just outside which is good for snacks etc.
Major problems with leaking from window area during rainy days (rained whole week of my stay with yellow alert as well). The plaster literally drops off in pieces and will dirty the sofa next to window and whatever you place there so be aware and careful. See pictures I attached. The cleaning lady said it’s normal so she will just put a towel to cover the dropped plaster pieces. Definitely needs to be fixed as it’s infrastructure issue.

XXiaobuding~~~~This B&B is absolutely amazing! It's right next to Shanghai's Lujiabang subway station, making it incredibly convenient for commuting. The room is clean and tidy, with a simple yet warm decor and all the amenities you need. The host is incredibly welcoming and patiently recommends nearby restaurants and fun places. Staying here feels like home and I'll definitely stay here again next time I'm in Shanghai!

GGuest UserSo if you’re literally on a budget and looking for somewhere to sleep and will be out most of the day yes this is your place. It’s in a bit of a dead zone and there’s nothing around. The map was wrong so it took me a while to actually find where it was. It was actually quite clean the place, I got good ish sleep and staff were okay despite the language barrier. Not a social hostel and is probably geared towards more longer term tenants.

KKah HiengThis hotel is located 15 min walk from Yuyuan MRT Station or Xiaoximen MRT Station. This makes it a bit inconvenient in taking MRT.
It is 10 min walk from Yuyuan / Chennhuangmiao area and 30 min walk from Nanjing Street.
It is located next to a small mall, which offers little. There are some food options in the mall but not much at the immediate surrounding.
The double bed room is small with no window. There is no place to put luggage. Shower is ok but no place around the wash basin to put toiletries.
It is getting warm and AC is not working yet. The staff brings in a standing fan.
Comfortable bed and pillows. Quite clean.

TThien AnThe location is pretty convenient, there're 2 MRT stations just 5 - 7min walk away from the hotel, each MRT has connection to other lines as well. The room itself is tiny, couldn't fit our luggages so we had to improvise.
Hotel staffs are helpful, we asked for multiple extra room slippers since we wanted to wear it in the bathroom. The breakfast was simple but good.
There's a convenient store just opposite the hotel, recommend to check it if you're hungry at night. Lot's of bicycle in front of the hotel too, easy to go around.

GGuest UserThe room was clean and comfortable. The front desk was very responsible. They called and mailed the missing items in time. Thank you very much! The hotel had a power outage during the trip. The front desk was always downstairs helping guests carry their luggage. The only downside was that the upstairs was being renovated, which was a bit noisy!

NNatalia007If you plan for stay in Shanghai 1-2 days and walk arount Yu garden and around Bund and take Huangpu river boat cruise than this is hotel can be useful because of location is near from hotel and price is good, but standart rooms is very small only sleep and shower. Cleaning room not very good but i not attention much because all time outside but bed linen has very clean and comfortable sleep and morning has hear singer birds from outside. Near hotel have a small chinese food restaurant, menu with pictures, so no problem order if dont know chinese language and also there is shops for small using things.
