"This inn is located right inside Pingyao Ancient City, offering a fantastic location. It's a short walk to the pedestrian street, and all the attractions are easily accessible. I didn't want to sleep on a Kang bed, and thankfully, they have all sorts of room types – king beds and twin beds. I booked the most expensive twin room, which was spacious and cost a little over 300 yuan. I thought it was quite good value for money. The building itself is a historical structure, with a clear sense of age. The owner mentioned they couldn't make too many major alterations, but the interior facilities are excellent. In the evenings, with the big red lanterns lit in the courtyard, it felt very cinematic. The owner's service was enthusiastic, and the high-speed train pickup/drop-off was also very well organized! When we checked out, they even gave us a bottle of aged Shanxi vinegar as a gift!"

"Facilities: This new hotel, opened at the end of 2025, boasts very new facilities, including smart curtains and toilets, and excellent hot water. Cleanliness: It was very clean and hygienic, which put my mind at ease. Environment: It's a quiet oasis yet only a 5-minute walk from the ancient city. The hotel also offers a shuttle buggy service to the ancient city. Service: The front desk staff were very kind and friendly. Upon check-out, they even gave us small gifts like Pingyao vinegar and cookies – a very thoughtful touch. The driver who took us to the station was excellent; he shared many stories about the ancient city and recommended a great restaurant called 'Bu Cai Keng'. I definitely recommend staying here."

"It's close to Pingyao Ancient City Station. I arrived at the high-speed rail station late from Taiyuan and got the wrong direction with the navigation. I asked the owner for directions midway and he personally came to pick me up. The hotel is clean and tidy, and the surrounding area is very hygienic. The room was well-equipped and clean, and the bed was very comfortable. It's an excellent value. The hotel also offers meal reservations, and the prices are reasonable, not overpriced, and comparable to other restaurants. This morning, I went to the high-speed rail station and took bus No. 108 south to Shuanglin Temple. The owner was so helpful in explaining the bus directions so I wouldn't get on the wrong bus. I'm so grateful to him for taking me to the bus station. I was so happy to catch the bus on time. Overall, this was the best value I've had since traveling south from Datong in Shanxi!"

FFlavia De LuciaHighly recommend this one !! The highlight of the trip was the staff. So kind! They picked us up from the train station and dropped us off the next day. It was amazing! They also stayed awake till late to give us take away breakfast for the next day. They are helpful with tips about the city and give you a map and infos. The hotel and the room are really nice. The only thing I’m slightly disappointed about is that by changing the reservation I lost my room upgrade and we were given a smaller one. But we didn’t ask for anything as they were really helpful with the other matters. Thank you!

GGuest UserThe biggest surprise of my trip to Pingyao Ancient City was staying at the Red Lantern Guesthouse. Stepping into the ancient courtyard with its grey bricks and gently swaying red lanterns, I instantly felt transported back to the charming old days of a Jin merchant's compound. The guesthouse boasts an excellent location, tucked away in the heart of the ancient city. It's a peaceful retreat amidst the bustling streets, within walking distance of the City Tower, Ming and Qing Street, and all the major banks and escort agencies, making exploring the ancient city incredibly convenient. The historic courtyard retains its authentic Jin style, with beautifully carved beams reflecting the lantern light, creating an elegant and secluded atmosphere. The rooms are clean and tasteful, equipped with all modern amenities, including separate wet/dry areas and smart toilets. It's a perfect balance of old-world charm and contemporary comfort. What truly stood out was the incredibly thoughtful service from the staff. For those arriving by car, they arrange a shuttle service to and from the parking lot, saving you the hassle of dragging luggage over cobblestone streets. The housekeeper was meticulous and attentive, patiently explaining ancient city tour routes and even gifting us souvenirs and a guide. In the morning, I'd relax in the courtyard, and in the evening, I'd watch the red lanterns illuminate the ancient walls, fully immersing myself in the local life and ancient charm of Pingyao. Whether it's for travel convenience, comfortable accommodation, or the overall ambiance, everything was impeccable. It was the most wonderfully therapeutic place to stay in Pingyao, and without a doubt, I'll choose it again on my next visit!

GGuest UserWe had such a lovely stay here and truly felt welcomed from the moment we arrived. The hotel is owned by a husband and wife, the husband kindly picked us up from the train station and later dropped us back, which made our travel so much easier and stress-free. The wife checked us in warmly and looked after us throughout our stay, always making sure we were comfortable. Her English was very good, and she gave us fantastic recommendations. The homemade breakfast she prepared for us the next morning was such a thoughtful touch and made us feel like guests in their home rather than just customers at a hotel. Their kindness and genuine hospitality really stood out. The room was modern and very clean, and the hotel itself is so picturesque! Staying here made our experience in Pingyao incredibly memorable. We’re very grateful for how well they looked after us and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area!

The owners were incredibly welcoming and warm. My kids had such a great time playing with their twins that they didn't want to leave! Wishing the owners and their family a happy new year in advance!

GGuest UserI specially rushed to travel during the off-peak period after the Spring Festival to take the dog out for fun. After booking the room, I added WeChat with the landlady. She thoughtfully sent us the navigation location and a long route to get there. She also helped us book a drama to see Pingyao again. We called her the day before departure. I also contacted the hotel. I felt it was very reliable before going. They arranged to pick us up on the day. Because we were not familiar with it, we needed someone to guide us. However, the location of the inn is very close to the navigation gate and it is very dog-friendly! Very considerate. You can adjust the temperature of the central air conditioner in the room. It is hygienic and clean. The location of the accommodation is very close to South Street and relatively quiet. Because there are not many guests traveling during off-peak hours, we were upgraded to a room type for free. We got a sticker and drew the location. , independent wifi in the room, free access to mineral water, the store staff is really nice! The dog friends who recommended it to me hope that they will all come and check in with their dogs, haha! Almost everything I asked for was answered. Before I left, I said that there was really no need to send us away. It was very close, but the boss lady still asked us to send us away in the scenic spot car. I hope the business is prosperous and the store is caring!

TTanluzheWsI am from Shanxi, and this time I went home to bring my father-in-law, mother-in-law and relatives from other places to visit. The boss is a local and very nice. It is his own inn, and the photos taken are very good, which can fully satisfy everyone's fantasy about Ming and Qing Dynasty architecture. Great 👍. The first photo is inside the inn.

CCS@LLocation, value for money and hotel services unbelievable. I am so glad that i stay at this hotel after search many good and great hotel. The hotel go extra miles provide pick up and drop off from train station as this service not listed(only airport but not train station). The ambiance of the hotel the moment i step in until i at the room is just amazing which is exactly same like watching C drama Wuxia. The courtyard building is listed as historical site and the entire premises and the room truly transform & bring me back to the past. Location great within walking distance to west avenue pingyao ancient city and surrounding nearby easily can get local foods. I posted some pictures hope is helpful. Highly recommend stay at this courtyard.

GGuest UserPingyao Yundingxuan truly exceeded our expectations! This ancient courtyard, a former Shanxi merchant's residence, has an incredible atmosphere, perfect for amazing photos. The location is superb, right on West Street in the heart of the old town, within walking distance of 'Impression Pingyao' and all major attractions – super convenient for sightseeing and dining. The hotel offers free pickup and drop-off at the city gate, helps with luggage, and provides thoughtful and attentive service. They patiently explained sightseeing routes and even assisted with discounted bookings for 'Impression Pingyao' tickets, saving us time and effort. The rooms are clean and tidy, with soft and comfortable bedding. The courtyard is quiet and tranquil, making it a very reassuring stay for both elderly guests and children. The amenities are comprehensive, and the breakfast is authentic. It offers incredible value for money. It's definitely the top choice for family trips to Pingyao. Highly recommended; we'll definitely stay here again next time we visit Pingyao.

WWeiwanchengdelvxingAwesome! 👍🏻 We arrived late by high-speed train, and the owner drove directly to the station to pick us up. All the restaurants in the ancient city were closed, so the owner lent us his electric tricycle to go eat outside the city. Riding that little vehicle through the ancient city at night was truly a special experience, haha. As for the room, it had everything we needed, and the underfloor heating kept it very warm. The large kang bed was quite unique, and even the mouthwash cups were disposable. Since it was the off-season, the owner even upgraded our room. Although the wallpaper was a bit peeling, it didn't affect our stay at all. Moreover, right outside the inn is the owner's own travel photography studio. I'm so glad I didn't book one of those trendy shops recommended online in advance. The photo shoot here was absolutely fantastic 💖. The makeup artist was very gentle and recommended suitable hairstyles and makeup based on my face shape. I loved the photos, and there was absolutely no pressure during the selection process – completely voluntary. A perfect ancient city experience, I'll definitely recommend it to my friends!

AAnonymous UserThis hotel was stunning. Located in the heart of the city. Very charming, it feels like going back in time. Staff is extremely nice and helpful. Crystal at concierge was there for us all the time. Definitely recommended. Only down point: the hotel is very difficult to find. To keep a higher level of exclusivity there is not a single indication on the street. Took a while and some local help to manage.
