5-Star Hotels in Xi'an

I came for a staycation the night before school started, and I was torn between the InterContinental Economic Development Zone and the InterContinental High-tech Zone. Since I hadn't been to the High-tech Zone one, I decided to give it a try. The hotel opened in 2019 and was renovated in 2023. It's located next to Yanping Gate, with plenty of good food nearby, though it's a bit far from tourist attractions. As a Platinum Ambassador, I was pre-upgraded via email to an open-plan suite, but due to a cleanliness issue, I was moved to a one-bedroom suite. The room featured Byredo BLANCHE toiletries and a Dyson hairdryer. It's worth mentioning that the bathrobes in the room were unique and very comfortable to wear. The overall decor of the room was dominated by dark-toned stone, a classic InterContinental style. The biggest highlight of the one-bedroom suite was a huge circular bathtub, about a meter in diameter, which was incredibly comfortable for soaking. This bathtub might just be the best in Xi'an. Before checking in, I had heard that the hotel's F&B was excellent, and my experience confirmed it. The lounge's afternoon tea was decent, though it did include carbs like Liangpi or Liangmian (cold noodles), which is very Xi'an. However, the happy hour was fantastic, with about 7-8 hot dishes, many cold dishes, and a wide selection of drinks. A bartender from the lobby bar even came specifically to mix drinks during happy hour. The overall quality of the lounge could rival the Ritz-Carlton Xi'an. The breakfast selection was even more outstanding, with freshly made Roujiamo (meat burgers), Cheong Fun, and beef noodles, all tasting delicious and full of local flavor. And because it's in the High-tech Zone, there were fewer children in the lounge, making the overall experience much better than Marriott's lounges. The service is another aspect of this hotel that deserves high praise. It's truly surprising that a hotel in Xi'an, which is often considered a service 'lowland,' can provide service standards comparable to luxury brands. All the staff were very enthusiastic, professional, and attentive. At breakfast, all staff members would kindly greet you, and because the breakfast area is quite large, they would also help you get some food. Regarding service, I must specifically commend Fiona & Rita from the lounge, and the duty manager Jennifer. Due to staying up late watching the US Open, I only got a quick glimpse of the fitness facilities. The changing rooms had plunge pools, and the pool water temperature was moderate, though the length was a bit short. It meets standard five-star expectations. Overall, the hotel industry in Xi'an is very competitive, with the W Hotel flagship, the Hualuxe and Westin near the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, two JW and InterContinental hotels in the High-tech Zone and north of the city, and two Grand Hyatts and one Hyatt Regency already open, with Park Hyatt also on the horizon. The name InterContinental High-tech Zone might easily be overlooked among these, but among all the hotels I've stayed at in Xi'an, this one definitely ranks in the top three.

This is an apartment hotel, and it has all the amenities an apartment should have: a fridge, washing machine, microwave, induction cooker, and even tableware. It's perfect for extended stays of several days. The swimming pool and gym are also fully equipped, making for a cozy and comfortable stay. The selection at the East and West buffet breakfast is a bit limited, but it's exquisite and delicious, with different offerings each day. The Xi'an Museum and Small Wild Goose Pagoda are within walking distance. The Bell and Drum Towers and the Ancient City Wall are about 6 km away, and shared bicycles are very convenient for getting around!

The hotel is located right next to the Tang Paradise and the Grand Tang Everbright City. It was originally built and operated by Mitsui & Co. in 1988, and later handed over to InterContinental Hotels. As a result, the hotel boasts numerous beautifully designed gardens, incorporating many Japanese garden design elements. It later underwent a second renovation, adding many Chinese garden elements. The service at a hotel of this star rating goes without saying. The breakfast selection is also extensive. The only minor drawback is that the toilets are still old-fashioned and not electric bidet toilets. If I'm ever in Qujiang again for business, I'll definitely choose Tanghua again. 👍

I brought my kids to Xi'an for a few days during the Mid-Autumn Festival and chose this guesthouse! I'm so happy with it! The location is absolutely perfect for families with children. It's just a few minutes' walk to the Big Wild Goose Pagoda Square and the Grand Tang Dynasty Everbright City pedestrian street. We could visit historical sites during the day and enjoy the night view in the evening. When we got tired, we could always easily return to the guesthouse to rest, which was so convenient for the little ones. No long commutes, just pure joy when traveling with kids! The guesthouse breakfast offered authentic local flavors, and after exploring Everbright City at night, there was even a heartwarming late-night snack waiting for us. The service was excellent, and the room was cozy and tidy! The breakfast variety was also incredibly rich! Staying here truly allowed us to experience the romance of Chang'an during our family trip to Xi'an.

I only stayed at this hotel for one night. The hotel is in a very strategic and convenient location, and the check-in process was smooth and quick. The receptionist was also friendly and welcoming. However, I had two disappointing experiences during my stay. 1. The room was initially different from what I booked When I first entered my room, I noticed that it did not appear to match the room I had booked through Trip.com. The layout was different, including the location of the bathtub, and the room also seemed smaller than the one shown in the photos and videos on the booking platform. I am not sure whether the room was actually the same room category or whether I was given a different type of room by mistake. I later mentioned this to the staff at the Club Lounge. They were very helpful and immediately assisted me in changing to another room that matched the photos and videos shown in my Trip.com booking. I really appreciated their quick response and assistance. However, I was still left wondering whether the first room was given to me by mistake or whether there was some other misunderstanding. 2. The swimming pool cap policy was confusing The second experience was regarding the swimming pool. When my husband and our 2-year-old child wanted to swim, the pool staff told us that swimming caps were mandatory. Since we did not bring any, we immediately went to the pool reception desk to purchase one. At first, I only intended to buy one for my husband, but the staff told us that we had to purchase two caps, including one for our child. However, my husband noticed a sign at the pool reception desk clearly stating that swimming caps were mandatory for guests aged 3 and above. We explained that our child was only 2 years old, but the staff still insisted that our child had to wear a swimming cap, so we ended up purchasing two. After we finished swimming, I passed by the reception desk again and personally checked the sign. It clearly stated that the swimming cap requirement applied to children aged 3 and above. My child is only 2 years old, and during the time in the pool, he was simply sitting/soaking in the water while being held by his father. I initially had no problem purchasing the cap because I was happy to follow the hotel’s rules. However, after seeing the actual policy on the sign, I couldn’t help but wonder why the staff insisted on making us purchase one for a 2-year-old without first asking about his age. If the intention is for swimming caps to be mandatory for all ages, then perhaps the wording on the sign should simply be changed to reflect that rule. 😃 Otherwise, the current situation is quite confusing and, honestly, a little ironic. When checking out, I mentioned this issue to the receptionist. She apologized and kindly gave me a small Xi’an refrigerator magnet as a gesture. Thank you — I genuinely appreciated it. Overall, the hotel has a great location, and some of the staff were very helpful and friendly. Unfortunately, these experiences left me somewhat disappointed with my stay. I hope the hotel can clarify these policies and improve communication between staff members in the future. Thank you.

This was my first time visiting Xi'an, and I chose this hotel out of curiosity about Spanish hotel management. My stay met expectations. Additionally, thanks to a Trip.com package, I experienced a Hanfu photoshoot. It's a photography studio run by a few young people called 'Hanfu Metaverse'. The reception and makeup ladies were all great, especially the handsome photographer Xiao Jing, who was very professional with his shot selection and candid captures.

This stay was truly amazing, five stars for sure! The public areas are elegantly decorated and perfect for photos, with no clutter or strange odors. Even the corners were meticulously cleaned, making everything feel fresh and comfortable. The facilities are comprehensive and well-maintained, operating smoothly and reliably, making them convenient and reassuring to use. YOYO, one of the staff members, explained the packages in detail (no hard selling at all) and had a gentle, patient attitude. The cleaning staff were meticulous and dedicated, always keeping the environment neat and orderly. From hygiene details and facility upkeep to the service experience, everything exceeded expectations. The atmosphere was warm and comfortable, making us feel completely at ease. You can feel the careful attention to detail everywhere – high standards of cleanliness, complete and undamaged facilities, and warm, thoughtful service. The overall experience was fantastic and definitely worth choosing again. Highly recommended!

Yesterday was my first time in Xi'an, and I never expected our first stop to be such a huge surprise! What touched me the most was the hotel's service. The staff were incredibly warm and not only thoughtfully gave us small gifts but also upgraded our room to a suite for free! The room was very spacious, beautifully decorated, and super comfortable to stay in. The hotel's location is also absolutely fantastic, right by Heping Gate. From our room, we could open the window and see the majestic ancient city wall directly. That profound sense of history just washed over us – it was truly atmospheric! Getting around was also super convenient, with a subway station right next door, making travel smooth wherever we wanted to go. Today's breakfast also deserves a big thumbs up; there was a wide variety and it was delicious, so there was no need to worry about not finding something you liked. All in all, I feel the value for money is incredibly high, and this stay was really worth it! I highly recommend it to friends visiting Xi'an!

Despite a few minor hiccups during our stay, the butler was incredibly warm, friendly, and patient in their communication, handling everything gracefully. This place is particularly suitable for families with young children, offering a rich array of amenities including a gym, a parade float, and natural hot springs. The family rooms are adorned with cartoon themes, which the kids absolutely loved, making it ideal for a family vacation. Highly recommend!

To catch an early flight, I once again chose the Xi'an Airport Grand Hotel. This time, I discovered another shortcut: take the elevator (not the escalator) from the Airport Exit of Metro Line 14, heading towards the airport departure hall, up to the third floor, and the hotel is directly opposite. It's incredibly convenient, a real blessing for those with early morning or late-night flights. However, I did notice a small drawback this time: breakfast at 6 AM couldn't be served even a minute early, and even at 6:15 AM, items like fruit and vegetables weren't fully set out yet. For those catching the earliest flights, it's a minor disappointment.
