Nice bed with phone charger point and smooth light. Complimentary drink station is wonderful. They also provide kitchen section with microwave, fridge, cutlery and utensils for guest use. Parking is available at 500 yen per day. Simple but plenty.
The accommodations are beautiful and the staff are friendly. Home-cooked breakfast seems to have disappeared, but it's not available. Only porridge and drinks are available for an additional fee. The bathrooms are separated by gender and can be used by groups of 55 minutes. You can also access the outdoor baths from within the bathrooms.
This hotel has one of the friendliest reception desk. The elderly uncle manning the front desk was most helpful. When we came back late one night and when the carpark was full. He helped arrange for us to park at the station carpark with no additional costs. And he patiently guided us to the location with a hand drawn map. The local breakfast provided was much enjoyed. Simple fare but it was filling. And it was actually quite enjoyable. Enclosed pictures of our local Japanese breakfast over the 2 days that we stayed in the hotel. The hotel is also within walking distance to the train station. And under the train station there's a supermarket which use super convenient to grab some grocery items for the stay.
Located just a block or two from JR Oita Station (and mall), it is also adjacent to a large Shōtengai (covered street shopping district), it is surrounded by walkable dining and shopping and is an excellent starting point for deeper explorations of Oita, or even a short day trip up to Beppu by rail, about 20 minutes away, though you don't need to go anywhere to relax features a ground floor onsen as well! The front desk was extremely helpful throughout my stay, and making the usual arrangements was easy. The location is quiet at night but feels connected to the pulse of the city.
The hotel is older, but the stay was top-notch!
Upon check-in, you're provided with a yukata and toiletries. These can be replenished daily.
The staff is polite and always willing to help. I accidentally forgot my key in my room when I went to pour boiling water, and they helped me open the door without any problem.
The breakfast was delicious and nutritious, and it's great that you can choose your own ingredients.
The rooftop onsen was a truly wonderful bonus. After a long day on your feet, relaxing in the hot water was a true delight.
Also, despite the hotel being directly across from the station, which is very convenient for traveling, the windows face the opposite side, so you can't hear the trains. Overall, the room was quiet, perfect for relaxing.
Cons: no kettle in the room, and the fact that they take away your yukata when cleaning.
Otherwise, everything was wonderful, I highly recommend it!
When we arrived soaking wet from the downpour, the staff were incredibly kind, bringing us towels and being very accommodating.
- We paid the bathing fee of 250 yen per person upon arrival.
- The room had a refrigerator, toilet, and yukata. There was no private bath or microwave! The futon was surprisingly warm and comfortable.
- Breakfast was a bit smaller compared to other ryokans, a perfect portion size. For women, it might be a bit too much to finish.
- The hot spring can be used at any time by flipping the 'occupied' sign in front of it. It was incredibly hot and felt amazing, probably because it's a natural hot spring source.
- Rooms go up to the 3rd floor, but there's no elevator, so it might be difficult for elderly guests.
They treated us so well, I definitely want to go back! Thank you!
This is my second stay at Natural Hot Spring Ariston Hotel Oita, and it continues to be a comfortable and reliable choice. The natural hot spring remains the highlight—clean, relaxing, and especially soothing after a long day.
Rooms are compact yet well-kept, with comfortable beds and everything needed for a pleasant stay. Cleanliness is consistently good, and the overall atmosphere is quiet and restful. The staff are polite and attentive, making the experience smooth and stress-free.
Its convenient location near Oita Station is another reason I returned, with easy access to restaurants and convenience stores. Breakfast is simple but satisfying, offering a good start to the day.
Overall: A dependable hotel I would happily return to again—great value for money, excellent onsen facilities, and a practical location for both business and leisure stays.

My sister and I stayed here for two nights.
The new environment was very nice, clean and tidy.
We were assigned to the plum boudoir on the second floor. The room was very spacious.
The air conditioning in the room was extremely cold; even with it set to 27 degrees Celsius, it was still chilly.
Our room also had a massage chair, which we found very comfortable. The open-air hot spring was right to the right of the door, very close by.
The landlady and the female staff were very friendly.
If I come to Beppu again, I will definitely stay here again.
Our experience was excellent.
The automatic check-in and check-out process was easy, quick, and convenient. The room was spacious, neat, and clean. However, the privacy of the in-room bath was quite low, which made me uncomfortable using it.

GGuest UserThe hotel location is excellent, right next to Beppu Station – just cross the road from the exit. It has its own hot spring, which is a bit small, but guests can use the hot springs at two other nearby hotels for free. Breakfast is also served at one of those other hotels. The room rate is very affordable for Beppu, offering great value for money.

GGuest UserSuper friendly hostel with lovely dorms, very spacious pods and cute little onsen. Private onsen also available.Free parking was a great perk and staff super friendly
GGuest UserThe location is remote and the transportation is inconvenient. I called the hotel but they didn't answer the phone, so I had to take a taxi. There are not many taxis in Yufuin... It's about 160 yuan...
It's like a small house in the countryside, more suitable for older people to drive by themselves. The surrounding area is very desolate and not recommended for children.
There are about 7-8 households in the whole yard, with a total of 4 private baths, which need to be used with a sign. The outdoor pool is also outdoors, and it's very windy and cold in winter...
Dinner is OK...
AAnonymous UserA great value-for-money option if you're on a budget!
It's right across from Yufuin Station, just a minute's walk away, super convenient. The triple room was clean, a bit small, but it came with a fridge, microwave, and washing machine. The bathroom had a tub and the toilet was separate from the shower, which was really nice. 👍
The rooftop open-air bath gets an extra 100 points! You get to use it privately on a rotating basis, so a family can enjoy it together without strangers. You can even soak late at night.
One thing to note ⚠️ is that it's a self-check-in system, which isn't the most convenient. You need to get a password from the hotel before arrival. You enter the password on a tablet on the second floor, and then it gives you your room number and room access code. Also, check-out is by 10 AM the next day, so you'll need to store your luggage in the lockers at the station across the street.
Overall, it's still a really great place – good location, affordable, and that open-air bath is a huge bonus!
MM475804****The hostess of this B&B is a very neat and tidy lady. She even cleaned our luggage wheels for us and carried our bags upstairs, then reminded me specifically about trash sorting. I was quite diligent about sorting my trash during my two-night stay, which was fine since I'm also very particular about it. Due to the language barrier, on the first night, I went to use the private hot spring and accidentally wore my shoes inside the small cabin. I'll definitely be more careful next time! This B&B is quite clean, and I'd probably stay here again on my next visit!
GGuest UserAlthough the facilities were old, the staff were friendly and the food was good.
The open-air hot springs are especially nice as they are buried in nature.

GGuest UserAbsolutely understated hotel style onsen resort with fully renovated facilities, decently sized rooms, clean onsen springs and most important of all, nice and sociable hotel staff with pleasant smiles.
Bath tub with gorgeous mountain view will surely give you an unforgettable memory and the balcony with greenery mountain will give the tranquility and beauty of nature.
Buffet style breakfast and dinner served with ample choices of delicious and quality foods. The ice cream is a must try!
Last but not least, the relaxation room is full of fun for you to regain balance of body and mind after the taste of different onsen. A walk to the nearby riverside is a good day time activity!
We will come again.
GGuest UserAdvantages: 1/In Huaxi Village, the location is excellent, enjoy the tranquil Huaxi Village at night, close to Jinxi Lake. 2/The room is large and the wifi is very fast.
Noteworthy places: 1/checkin The location is not obvious. The road to the hotel is not star-studded in the day. You need to go through the store to get to the room. The shoes you wear are placed on the locker on the basement floor. Change to the hotel slippers on the room, the room is on the second floor, you need to pull your luggage upstairs. The overall feeling is wonderful.
