Guest UserIt’s the third time we came to Yufuin. Previously, we stayed in onsen hotels with meals provided. This time we are staying for 2 months in Japan to experience the local life, and Yufuin was our third stop, where we stayed for 6 nights.
The service is top notch. The host responded very quickly whenever I had queries, and very clear instructions for free pick-up were given days before check-in. As we stepped in the house, the air- conditioner had already been turned on there were 3 big bottles of water in the fridge which made us feel so welcome. They collected our trash every day and asked us what we needed.
The guesthouse is an independent unit full of beautiful Japanese decorations. It was sparkling clean and thoughtfully furnished with everything you need. A first-aid box was provided. We were given 12 sets of clean towels and toilet amenities, including toothbrushes. We have stayed in different apartments before and have never experienced this.
More importantly, the kitchen was well equipped with everything—many cutlery items of different sizes and even wine glasses. There were a hot pot and a frying pan, a toaster, rice cooker, coffee machine, and even a dishwasher. You can't imagine there is even a massage chair! The bathroom was designed like an onsen. You can simply add some onsen powder to enjoy a hot bath.
You can easily access different attractions on foot. The location is about a 20-minute walk to the nearby supermarkets, 25 minutes to the main shopping streets, and 30 minutes to the JR station. If you drive, it is even easier. For us, we enjoyed walking and seeing the beautiful scenery, so it was not a problem for us even though we didn’t drive. Every day we walked to the supermarkets and bought fresh produce to cook. We had so much fun making different dishes and hot pot.
When we asked for a whetstone, the host quickly gave us theirs, and the next day, they bought us a new one. They even gave us sake as a gift. On the day of check-out, the host drove us to the JR station and helped us store our luggage in the visitors’ centre.
Next time when we come to Yufuin, we will definitely stay here again. It’s really great value for money.

The hotel location is excellent, right next to Beppu Station – just cross the road from the exit. It has its own hot spring, which is a bit small, but guests can use the hot springs at two other nearby hotels for free. Breakfast is also served at one of those other hotels. The room rate is very affordable for Beppu, offering great value for money.

Anonymous UserExcellent location with convenient transportation. The place is clean and right by the sea, surrounded by plenty of restaurants and shopping malls. The staff are polite and welcoming, the environment is quiet, and it's close to attractions with good facilities.

A great value-for-money option if you're on a budget!
It's right across from Yufuin Station, just a minute's walk away, super convenient. The triple room was clean, a bit small, but it came with a fridge, microwave, and washing machine. The bathroom had a tub and the toilet was separate from the shower, which was really nice. 👍
The rooftop open-air bath gets an extra 100 points! You get to use it privately on a rotating basis, so a family can enjoy it together without strangers. You can even soak late at night.
One thing to note ⚠️ is that it's a self-check-in system, which isn't the most convenient. You need to get a password from the hotel before arrival. You enter the password on a tablet on the second floor, and then it gives you your room number and room access code. Also, check-out is by 10 AM the next day, so you'll need to store your luggage in the lockers at the station across the street.
Overall, it's still a really great place – good location, affordable, and that open-air bath is a huge bonus!

The hostess of this B&B is a very neat and tidy lady. She even cleaned our luggage wheels for us and carried our bags upstairs, then reminded me specifically about trash sorting. I was quite diligent about sorting my trash during my two-night stay, which was fine since I'm also very particular about it. Due to the language barrier, on the first night, I went to use the private hot spring and accidentally wore my shoes inside the small cabin. I'll definitely be more careful next time! This B&B is quite clean, and I'd probably stay here again on my next visit!

Although the facilities were old, the staff were friendly and the food was good.
The open-air hot springs are especially nice as they are buried in nature.

ez62This hotel has one of the friendliest reception desk. The elderly uncle manning the front desk was most helpful. When we came back late one night and when the carpark was full. He helped arrange for us to park at the station carpark with no additional costs. And he patiently guided us to the location with a hand drawn map. The local breakfast provided was much enjoyed. Simple fare but it was filling. And it was actually quite enjoyable. Enclosed pictures of our local Japanese breakfast over the 2 days that we stayed in the hotel. The hotel is also within walking distance to the train station. And under the train station there's a supermarket which use super convenient to grab some grocery items for the stay.
