2-Star Hotels in Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan

Absolutely, absolutely, absolutely loved it! We were the only guests that night, so we had the whole villa to ourselves. Grandma drove to pick us up and took us to the Kaba bus stop, and when we found out there were no tickets, she drove us to a restaurant instead. Later that night, feeling a bit scared of the dark, we asked her to pick us up again. When we got back, our luggage was already in the room, the beds were made, and the bath was filled with hot water. Grandpa gave us a detailed tour of the room's amenities and shared many stories about photographing Mount Fuji. He even offered to take us to a viewpoint in the morning if the weather was clear. Although it rained too heavily to see the mountain, we slept wonderfully and enjoyed a comfortable soak in the hot spring. In the morning, Grandma prepared a delicious Western-style breakfast from scratch. The scrambled eggs were made with milk, and the yogurt came with homemade strawberry jam. We were so full we could barely move! Eating breakfast amidst the fog, accompanied by music from a music box, was incredibly relaxing. Grandpa, seeing that we couldn't see Mount Fuji, suggested we go to the museum for the VR experience and drove us there. The VR was totally worth it! We'll definitely come back to Lake Yamanaka next time we have a chance. Ten stars! The entire house was super clean, with so many lovely little details. Room 207 has the best view, though the only minor drawback is the shared bathroom, which might be a slight inconvenience if there are many guests.

Even though it's a ryokan-style hotel, the private room was quite large and spacious. It had its own bathroom and sink inside the room. The bedding was a futon on the floor, and yukata robes were provided. The shared bathrooms, separated by gender, were outside the room. They were large enough for 3-4 people to shower at once and could be locked. There was also a large soaking tub in the bathroom. But the view of Mount Fuji? Absolutely unbeatable! Especially in the morning with the golden light, Fuji-san looked incredibly beautiful.

I arrived late at night from Fuji Station and had to pay 3,700 yen for a taxi. I was surprised when I got there because the house was located on a hill and the road was very dark. I asked the taxi driver to wait while I walked down to check. Luckily, the lights were on and I found the host waiting to welcome us warmly, even though it was already late. Owner had already prepared hot water and asked what time we would like to take a bath. She even guided us to a small onsen. The host was very attentive and kind. Although the place looked a bit scary at night from the outside, the inside was very warm and cozy. When I woke up the next morning, I felt completely rested. The room was clean, and the host’s hospitality made the whole experience feel so worthwhile. I felt like the money I spent was totally worth it—it gave me not only comfort but also beautiful memories. The atmosphere was like staying in a countryside vacation home—quiet, peaceful, and heartwarming. If you’re planning to rent a car, this is definitely a place I’d recommend. There’s a parking space, and it’s not crowded at all. I truly want to recommend this place!

The hotel is quite old, but everything is clean. Upon entering, you need to change into slippers and leave your shoes in a special locker. On each floor, there are thermoses with hot water and tea. They provide towels and Japanese-style bathrobes, which is a nice touch! 👍🏼 There's no smart toilet, which is common in most places in Japan. However, if you're looking for atmosphere, great views of Mount Fuji, and plan on being out and about rather than spending all day in the hotel, I definitely recommend it. 👍🏼 It's about a 20-minute walk from the station, which means fewer tourist crowds. There's also a small shopping center nearby. Rooms facing the road offer excellent views of Mount Fuji! We stayed in room 406. 🙂

This is our second time staying at this hotel, and once again, we are absolutely thrilled! The location is a perfect 10 out of 10, with the bus and train stations literally just across the street. There are 7-Eleven and Lawson convenience stores nearby, a bank next door offering a great currency exchange rate, and plenty of souvenir shops and cozy restaurants around. As for the rooms, they offer the perfect value for money. Staying in a traditional Japanese-style room with a direct view of Mount Fuji is the best thing you could ever dream of! The hotel also features a wonderful onsen, which also looks out at the mountain. Everything is beautifully clean and well-maintained. The staff is incredibly polite and helpful. On the day we were supposed to check out, a typhoon was approaching, and our bus got rescheduled. The staff kindly offered us to stay and wait out the storm in a special recreation room with a TV and a ping-pong table, so we wouldn’t freeze outside in the rain. It was so incredibly sweet of them! Special thanks to the team for such amazing care! We will definitely come back again.

Had a wonderful time at this hostel! It’s quite social and the people working there are kind and fun to hang out with :) The kitchen facilities and common space are great. I loved the close proximity to Lawson, a supermarket and also the lake! I didn’t have time to rent a bike, but I like that they have bikes for rent. I also did laundry while I was there and that was very easy and the dryer was effective unlike some machines I’ve used elsewhere in Japan. The hostel is about a 20-min walk from Kawaguchiko station. There are bus stops nearby but the buses stop running quite early in the evening. I stayed in a 9-bed dorm on the second floor and one thing that’s lacking is curtains for each bed. I think that would really help everyone’s sleep quality since the room curtains often aren’t closed at night (by other guests) and it would give everyone more privacy. Overall, I’d definitely recommend this hostel to anyone visiting the area!

This is a very traditional Japanese guesthouse, conveniently located near JR Kawaguchiko Station. It features tatami mat sleeping areas, and there's a restroom on every floor. My only minor complaints are that the sliding doors can be a bit noisy and the futons are a little old. Overall, I recommend staying here.

Room type: Small European style hotel, there are tatami rooms in the room, some rooms have open-air or private style, and there are also loans and cut-out styles (chartered styles). [ • Landscape: Many guests like ”Sitting in the living room and seeing Mount Fuji”, the scenery outside the window is very good, suitable for punching in and relaxing. • New and old equipment: the appearance of the building and the room are slightly old. Some passengers mentioned that the wallpaper cracks and the bathroom is slightly old, but the room is large and clean, and the equipment is complete. • Note: There are many stairs, which is not suitable for people with mobility problems or pushing a lot of luggage.

The hotel offers a beautiful lakeside view directly in front of Lake Shoji, creating a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere throughout the stay. Although the property is quite old, it is well maintained and full of charming vintage Japanese character. The service was warm and attentive, and both dinner and breakfast were delicious. The location is especially convenient for travelers driving around the Fuji area, with easy access and a comfortable overall experience. We also reserved a private onsen for bathing, which made the stay even more enjoyable. Please note that the room itself did not include a shower — only a toilet — but this matched the traditional Japanese-style ryokan experience. Overall, this hotel is highly recommended for travelers seeking an authentic, nostalgic Japanese atmosphere with beautiful scenery and genuine hospitality.

From the room, you can see Mount Fuji. It is very fast to go to the shore of Hirano. If you want to see the morning sunshine in Jinshan, you can open the curtains to see the clarity of Mount Fuji today and then decide whether to go downstairs. There is a private bathroom in the room. The room is large and the hotel is not new overall. You have to carry your luggage upstairs without elevator. It takes7-8 minutes to drag your luggage from Hirano bus station to the hotel.
