We are family of three. Two adults and one child. We were given 2 single beds. My husband and child had to sleep on the floor. We couldn't put the beds together as it was fixed. Couldnt get another room as they were full.
The room was overdone. Two dressing tables , two big arm chairs, dining table & chairs etc., big spacious room but too many furniture making it uncomfortable.
When we informed the front office manager , he said it wont happen next time. Well, we are not too sure if qe wont to stay here though.
Amazing hotel, wonderful hospitality and beautiful views. If you’re visiting Danbulla/Sigiriya, I would recommend this place if you’re up for pleasant experience. Special shout-out to one of the staff, tall young chap who works evening shifts (didn’t get his name), aided us with booking a tuk tuk for our early morning trip to sigiriya rock and even checked with us after we came back our trip. Outstanding.
A must-stay hotel in Sri Lanka. The pool view is invincible. The design is excellent. The whole hotel is built on the mountain. It is very beautiful during the day and night. Breakfast bar under Ambulance Tata. Every service staff at the hotel is very good. Patience and serious push!
The hotel is nice, spacious beautiful room at check in we were treated to a refreshing juice. There is a big pool on the grounds and a big jacuzzi with hot water in the room.
Minuses of the hotel:
Far from the attractions. Taxi from the center only go there for the price of pick me x2. Hotel taxi are 3 times more expensive. There are no stores and restaurants near the hotel, so inside the hotel prices for food x3, Also after 6pm it is dangerous to be outside because elephants are walking around. Now let's talk about the premium status and the five races. In 7 years of traveling, this is the first hotel that did not have a bathrobe, slippers and toothbrush and toothpaste in the room. The plumbing in the shower leaks, and the doors creak so much that you could call the spirits at night. Regarding the attention to the customer. I mentioned my upcoming birthday in conversation with the manager, but this fact was not used in any way to show any form of attention from the hotel. This is a huge miscalculation on the part of the staff at a premium hotel. We also had a late departure and our request to delay in the hotel for a couple of hours was refused. This was not due to the arrival of new customers, as the manager offered to extend our stay for a fee. For future customers this fact may be decisive in their choice. In general, the hotel is not bad, but the service and flexibility of the staff, as well as individual approach to customers, does not correspond to the premium level and requires improvement.
The only thing we didn't like about the hotel was having to leave. A true oasis of peace, nature, and quiet luxury, with careful attention to detail. Unforgettable.
We really enjoyed this establishment and were able to enjoy our last moments in Sri Lanka until the end thanks to a late check-out :)
All the staff are attentive, accommodating and efficient!
The buffet is varied and suitable for several types of palates.
The rooms are large, clean and well equipped.
The BIG plus of this hotel is the magnificent swimming pool which is at an ideal temperature!
Modern house, everything is new. Very clean. The swimming pool and the big garden are my favorite. I am surrounded by nature and will be woken up by peacocks in the morning. There is a choice of Chinese food for dinner. It is delicious. The location is very good. It is very close to the Lion Rock Scenic Area. It takes 30 minutes to get to the Wildlife Park. It is my favorite accommodation on this trip.
The most amazing stay. Our children said they wanted to live there forever. My son also gave the food 4 trillion stars. Selvarage even let my children help fix the block pathing with him. No request was too big. Special place.
Our least popular hotel stay in Sri Lanka. We checked in for 4 nights and needed to ask for a room change the following day given the toilet smelt and slowly kept flooding the bathroom floor. That problem clearly pre-existed, but given most people only stay a night, It wasn't something that was high on the hotels priority list to address. The coaches come and go carrying 55-70 year old Europeans and Chinese, and they only stay a night. The level of service at this hotel wasn't a great experience, with reception needing management attention. There were exceptions (pool guy and luggage porter were both lovely).
The most frustrating thing about this hotel is that they should be rocking it. It's a great location, nice pool and a good setting, but that's where it stops. The rooms and restaurant are physically tired. Food was pretty average bordering poor despite being plentiful in choice. They had live music playing at night, which was so 'live' that it sent us to sleep early two nights in a row. Great idea, terrible execution, and that is pretty much how we would sum up the place.
It's no surprise that the hero promotional shot used by the hotel to market it's hotel is the photo of the view from the swimming póol to Lions Rock. Sadly, that's the only hero experience to be found at this hotel.
Golden Ridge is a great hotel in the Nuwara Eliya area. It is newly opened. It is worth staying here to experience the different scenery in the mountains when you come to Sri Lanka's tea area🍵

LLaowai on the LooseThe Tea Plantation is beautiful, surrounded by fields of tea. It has a lot of charm as a converted tea factory. It has a nice restaurant and bar off the lobby, and a spa in the basement. Its kind of a trek to get get there, but its worth it if you plan to spend a few days in this region. Its also on the way from Kandy to the National Parks in the Southern part of the island, so it makes a good place to stop for a night along the way. The spa was very nice, we had a couples massage there after breakfast. Overall it was a really nice place to spend a night. The weather is a lot cooler than the costal regions, it was a nice change of pace.
CConan NassLovely view and soft, comfortable beds to sleep in for the night.
The single, only problem I had was the waiter at the restaurant kept asking me, “are you okay, is everything good?” literally every 2 minutes. After saying “yes, thank you” multiple times, he stands there and starts a conversation, and once, just stands there and looks at me. The only thing I want to do is eat my food in peace. Lastly, after the only thing he brought me was a cappuccino (as it was a buffet so I fetch my own food), I gave a 1000 lkr tip. He was visibly upset with this and his over-friendliness completely disappeared. I didn’t dare to go back to the restaurant after this. Food was good, however!
SSusan JaneLooking for a beautiful restored estate home with impeccable service and delicious dining? Choose Taru Villa!
We spent three days exploring Kandy and neighboring region. The hotel is tucked behind some commercial buildings, but once the gates open and you move up the driveway, it all fades away. The hotel is elegant with an attention to details. Each space is carefully arranged to make you feel comfortable.
The staff are what really makes Taru Villa shine. Led by the hotel manager, the staff are welcoming and warm. You couldn’t ask for anything more. The food was excellent. The conversation was even better. We highly recommend to anyone.
Well done Taru Villa, well done!
PPaullakaoThe hotel is very close to Lion Rock. You can see Lion Rock from the swimming pool, and the entire hotel is spread among towering woods with towering ancient trees. The environment is comfortable. There is a pool outside the door of each room, which is also a feature, but there are mosquitoes🦟.
The food in the hotel is, well, edible. If possible, it is recommended to eat at the restaurant street 500 meters away. There are many excellent choices.
Service, if the tip is big enough. Here, the front desk staff is very aggressive in not giving change. Although this number is not a big deal for tourists, I feel very different when I tip and when my change is deducted.
Maybe because skin color is less popular. Because this is a Western world? have no idea.
XXIANDONGGarden-style hotel, with beautiful scenery and large rooms. There is also a welcome ceremony when arriving at the hotel. There are not many people staying at the hotel. The most funny thing is that from the lobby to the room, the bottle car cannot pass the path smoothly. At that time, the design was not thoughtful. The overall feeling is that this hotel is a relatively high-end hotel in the local area, which is good in all aspects, but remember to give a little more tip, otherwise you can just shake your face and show it to you
LLaowai on the LooseVery nice hotel, not far from Kandy's city center. We actually walked into town one day along the 2 lane winding road. The pool is very nice, there is a weight room to work out and a spa if you want a massage. Its very peaceful, has a nice view of nature and a nice little bar with some quality cocktails. If you are going to Kandy and you don't mind being a bit outside the city, this is a real good spot. I would post more pictures, but the site limits the size and its a lot of effort to shrink a photo just post it here.
PPeeradejStay for three nights. The hotel is heritage not recommended for a person who is afraid things stay alone. The location is perfect at the front gate of the temple of tooth relics. However, one male GSA do not respond well as I told him that the telephine is broken, the fridge inside is very hot and the light in the toilet is broken so many times. Until I checked out the telephine is still broken, the fridge inside is still very hot. But the light is fixed by an electrician who was recommended by male maid not GSA.
