4-Star Hotels in Shanxi, China

Overall, my impression of this hotel is that it's a slightly upscale budget hotel. The service is four-star, and they offer shuttle service to and from the station. At around 400 yuan a night, it's considered high-end in Linfen. **Pros:** The service is excellent and highly commendable. The station shuttle service is very thoughtful, and the car was comfortable. The complimentary welcome fruit was a nice, warm touch. The separate toilet, sink, and shower area is a great feature. **Areas for Improvement:** The air conditioning was quite noisy. The 'river view' room didn't really offer much of a river view, though I could see a bridge. The breakfast quality should be improved to match the four-star service. For instance, the freshly squeezed soy milk was too thick, indicating too few soybeans were used, and the quality of the pastries needs to be better.

For the price, this was excellent value. The room was very clean with all the necessities provided. Aside from this, the service was good. The staff were friendly and willing to help. Some cool quirky things, like a cat and its kittens in the lobby (in a glass play area so still hygienic). Also, coffee freshly brewed in the morning in the lobby. I didn't try it, but I think it was free as it was not in the breakfast area. One of the best cheaper stays I have been to traveling around China.

My child absolutely loved this room! Besides being spacious, it was incredibly well-equipped. They even provided free earplugs and makeup remover wipes, not to mention complimentary tricycles and bicycles for exploring the ancient city. It was very quiet at night, making for a peaceful sleep. And the front desk staff? Their service was exceptional – truly made our stay comfortable and pleasant. The breakfast, served on a street in the ancient city, was just a few hundred meters away.

A perfect stay! This guesthouse truly exudes warmth and hospitality. From the moment I booked and connected with our concierge via WeChat, to the lovely aunties in the kitchen, and every single staff member, the genuine kindness was palpable. The guesthouse is quite new, yet there was absolutely no hint of a renovation smell. The family room, with one large double bed and one small double bed, was very comfortable for our family of three. After a tiring day out exploring, it was wonderful to sink into the spacious bed for a truly refreshing night's sleep. Breakfasts were always abundant and featured delicious local specialties. Starting the day with such a satisfying meal meant we could explore until noon without feeling hungry, even if we hadn't found a suitable restaurant yet! A special thanks to the two aunties in the kitchen, who were incredibly warm and thoughtful; their cooking perfectly suited our family's taste. Xiao Cheng, our concierge, was a beautiful and lovely girl. She proactively met us in the underground garage to help with our luggage, assisted with check-in, and even brought us warm 'goodnight soup' in the evenings, besides recommending some excellent restaurants. There was also Xiao Dang (I apologize, I didn't quite catch who this staff member was), who sent us daily weather forecasts and reminded us to adjust our clothing. Another male staff member shared local culinary delights and insights into the local culture. He even escorted us to the underground garage when we were driving away (and a big thank you to another female staff member who was also there!). We truly felt a comforting, family-like warmth. Our trip to Datong was a last-minute decision, but it turned out to be incredibly memorable and joyful, thanks to the dedication and hard work of all the staff at this guesthouse. If we get the chance to visit Datong again with friends and family, we will definitely choose this place again! I wish you all continued success in your business!

This is a newly opened hotel with excellent facilities. The rooms are clean and tidy, the service is great, and the breakfast is also quite good. The hotel is conveniently located near Bell Tower Street and Food Street, with many old, reputable restaurants nearby, making dining very easy. The Jinshang Museum is also just 1km from the hotel.

This was my first time visiting Pingyao Ancient City, and this guesthouse truly deserves its five-star rating. The overall decor creates an incredible ambiance. The courtyard offers a serene and peaceful atmosphere, while the interior design is elegant and grand, exuding classical beauty at every turn! The room layout and furnishings show impeccable taste. I was very satisfied with the cleanliness; every corner was spotless, and the facilities were complete and a pleasure to use. The front desk lady and all the staff were dedicated, thoughtful, and handled everything gracefully and generously. You could feel their genuine sincerity and enthusiasm everywhere. Staying in such a comfortable place during my trip made the experience exceptionally pleasant. I highly, highly recommend it!!!

My stay at Futiandahua Rain Hot Spring Hotel was absolutely fantastic! First off, the location is superb, right inside the ancient city. It's super close to where they do the iron flower show, which, by the way, is an absolute must-see. I'm getting on in years, but watching that show brought tears to my eyes; I was so moved by the performers' dedication and the incredible spectacle they put on. It's clear the hotel owner pays incredible attention to detail. My two girlfriends and I stayed in a triple room, and from the moment we walked into the lobby, we were gushing over the hotel's ambiance, the staff, and the room's decor. Every little detail was thoughtfully done. Even when we were heading out to explore the ancient city, the front desk proactively offered us a pack of tissues to take with us. The room itself was a standalone unit, so it was incredibly quiet. They delivered coffee and afternoon tea daily, and the fruit plate in the room was fresh. There was also a cooler in the lobby with bottled water available for guests. The whole room was smart-enabled with XiaoDu (a smart assistant), and the shower had great water pressure and was very comfortable, with a separate wet and dry area. Oh, one small thing: the trash can in the bathroom was a bit too small; I hope they can improve that. The private hot spring was amazing. After a full day of sightseeing, coming back to soak in the hot spring and chat was just pure bliss.

The second time I came to Datong, I didn't play enough attractions last time. Before I came, I saw the newly opened hot spring homestay. My mother Mia Datong is really full of surprises. It feels like living in Mandarin Oriental. Whether it is bedding or service, it is impeccable. The most praise is the scenery. You can see the iconic building. The dry building is outside the window. The room pool is a natural volcanic hot spring! ! ! ! ! It's worth it! Thanks to the housekeeper for taking care of it! Recommend to everyone ～ There is still heat on the pool, Datong cools down, and the warm ～ There is really a difference between the hot spring and hot water. After washing the body, the slippery ～ will come again ～ Waiting for me to explore new homestays and food next time 🎉👍 Let's say that the boss's aesthetic is great! ! If you want an authentic traditional vibe but still appreciate modern convenience, this hotel is the perfect choice. The staff picked us up and dropped us off by buggy at the main gate, which made everything effortless. The host was incredibly helpful and explained the best way to explore Pingyao Ancient Town. The hotel has a beautiful traditional courtyard style, but the rooms are fully modern—well-sealed windows, a big projector screen, an automated toilet, super clean linens, and a very comfortable mattress. A cold wave hit during our stay, and the host even provided an extra heater to keep us warm, which we really appreciated. We’re so glad we found this place and highly recommend it with confidence.

The room was incredibly spacious, and the bathroom design was exceptionally convenient. The shower and toilet had a wooden door, and the sink was located outside with a small vanity mirror, making it very easy for everyone to use. The hotel is also very close to Daiwang Mansion, with many great restaurants nearby. The freshly prepared breakfast each morning was delicious. If we didn't go out in the afternoons, afternoon tea was provided. The environment was wonderful and very quiet. The service was outstanding, especially the front desk staff. The ladies and gentlemen at the front desk were all incredibly kind. Whenever we passed by, they would greet us. They were also very thoughtful, recommending local supermarkets and explaining everything in great detail. We really enjoyed the tea at afternoon tea, so we asked the front desk lady for a link to buy it. She was so nice and even gave us some, and then sent us the link the day after we checked out. They were truly incredibly attentive. When we first arrived, we were a bit early. The front desk gentleman greeted us at the entrance and directed us to parking, even sending us a video of the location. Once our room was ready, he also helped us bring up our luggage.
