Sint Niklaas was going thru a process of major road and town works. Confusing one-way systems at play gave me a flat tyre reversing back around the right way and hitting a bunch of stones popping out the ground near the kerb.
I think it would be nice to return once the town face-lift is complete... 🤔
Ibis, I thought you'd be better than that. €20 deposit for a kettle and no milk, coffee, tea, or sugar in your room on arrival.. 😒
The ladies working there were lovely enough to give my gf & I a smile 🥰 they know where to park and at what times to pay the machines at the car parks 🤓
Cheap and fairly cheerful but also stressful to load and unload. 🤕
Motel-style hotel, poor soundproofing, not as good as the Marriott next door. The breakfast is very rich. The bus opposite the hotel can go into the city. It is best to go to the city center to buy a 10-trip bus card
Great hotel in a great location! I was situated in the front of the hotel facing the street with beautiful views of Gent’s skyline.
Lots of cafes and restaurants just downstairs and in walking distance. There was also a lot of great shopping nearby. Standard retail that you could find in most cities and also interesting shops with handmade and unique products. Also walking distance to all the sights you want to see.
Although the room is small, it was comfy.
The room is large in size, and it may catch up with a large room of 30 square meters. It is comfortable, clean and tidy with heating. Each of the two single beds is 1.5 meters wide and the quality of sleep is very good. The bathroom is also large, and the shower and the bucket can be separated by two people to use the bathroom at the same time, which is very convenient. Holiday Inn Group Hotel is really great 👍
It was a stylish and comfortable space!
The location is excellent, as it's only a 5-minute walk to the churches and other attractions in the center of Ghent.
The hotel is one stop away from Ghent's central station. Some trains pass through Ghent and then reach this station in one stop. It takes about 10 minutes to walk from the station.
You can take a bus, ride a bicycle or walk to the old town of Ghent (each has a different experience). There is a bus terminal and a Carrefour near the hotel (but the quality of fresh food in this Carrefour is not very good, I recommend Albert Heijn in the city center)
The hotel has a parking lot, and the lobby is shared with Ibis style (the price is similar, the rooms here are larger and have a small kitchen). The small kitchen is equipped with an electric stove, microwave, kitchen utensils and tableware)
You can take a train from Ghent to Bruges, Antwerp and Brussels (the one-way train journey is less than 1 hour). At night, you can also enjoy the beautiful night view of the ancient city of Ghent. It is highly recommended.
The hotel is located in the city center, surrounded by various historical sites such as Cityhall and St. Jacob's Church. There is also AH nearby, which is very convenient. Although located in the city center, it is very quiet at night, highly recommended.
The room was fine. We needed extra bedding and 2 nice staff came immediately and made the extra bed for us. However! We arrived with a reservation confirmation of 2 adults 1 child. Their confirmation had 2 people therefore the room they had was too small. They did have another room for 3 they said we could have but it would be 30 euros extra. At the time we simply agreed and paid as there was a big queue behind us and the amount was small. Buttons seemed like a con to extract more money from us, it wasn't our mistake as we had confirmation for 3 people at the designated price. It's a shame as I really liked Ghent and will certainly return but there are other hotels to choose from.
The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Coffee, tea and biscuits were provided. The bathroom was bright and the staff at the counter were friendly and welcoming. The hotel is a 5-minute walk from the central station, but a little far from the attractions. Since we were not in a hurry, we could reach the attractions in about half an hour.

AAnonymous UserIf you are sensitive to smell, please avoid this store. A fermented smell filled the corridors and rooms... The price is higher than the NH in the next block...
PPS The NH in the next block is a new store, with large rooms, new facilities and lower prices than ibis... I highly recommend it.
In addition, it is recommended that you drive to find a parking lot in advance & it is best to have full insurance. Ghent is... hard to describe.

Bbabadooknot a bad location, nice room and view, really close to train station but 20mins walk downtown (faster only by tram). except for train station area most of shops nearby were closed (cafe, restaurants,…ghost streets). positive aspect music festival occurring during our stay. negative aspect was city tax (per person and day), too much in my opinion and for what?…
