"The room was clean and tidy, with a very artistic decor. When I spontaneously asked for a room with a bathtub, they were able to accommodate it positively, and the extra charge was very reasonable and humane. All the staff were super gentle and attentive; any issues I brought up were resolved quickly and perfectly. There's a fridge and microwave upstairs, which made me feel at home even though I was far away. Overall, it felt very comfortable. Finally, at check-out, they even gave me a fridge magnet, which was very delicate. Though it's a small item, it was very heartwarming. I highly recommend this hotel!"

The Scholars Hotel Suzhou Pingjiangfu (Shuxiangshijia Huisuojiudian Suzhou Pingjiangfudian) is located in the heart of Suzhou old town and handy for visiting the many local attractions and classical Chinese gardens found there. An attractive hotel, it features traditional Chinese-style architecture, courtyards featuring pools of water and sculptured rock. Guestrooms boast contemporary furnishings with traditional touches and all the usual amenities required for a comfortable stay.

"Whenever I return to Suzhou from abroad, I always choose Pingjiang Lodge. It holds a special place in my heart because I used to walk past it and Pingjiang Road every day on my way to school. Plus, the hotel boasts a 500-year-old 'Half Garden.' Though small, it's a quintessential Suzhou garden where you can sit and enjoy tea, complete with parrots that say 'hello.' It's truly a remedy for homesickness, no need to visit other gardens. The service has always been exceptional. During this stay, I mentioned that it had been 40 years since I left Suzhou, and Manager Xiao Tang at the front desk immediately upgraded my room and sent some fruit. Breakfast is decent, and the hotel's homemade toppings are authentic – I look forward to them every morning. The location is absolutely perfect; Pingjiang Road is right outside, and popular attractions like Humble Administrator's Garden, Lion Grove Garden, and Suzhou Museum are all incredibly close. There are also various specialty snacks and restaurants nearby. Aside from the crowds of tourists, it's practically flawless. Staying here makes me so happy; it truly feels like coming home."

Inspired by the ocean, the indoor Kids’ Garden - Little Captain Club - brings extra delight and enjoyment to the time when family members come together for a vacation.

"I brought my baby for a weekend getaway, mainly for the hotel's heated pool and kids' play area. The entire hotel is shaped like a ship, and the lobby and rooms are designed to feel like cabins. The lobby is beautiful, with live piano and singing in the evenings, and the night view is stunning. I heard there's a fountain light show every Saturday, but we missed it! The room wasn't particularly large but was quite new. The twin beds could be combined into a king-size bed, and the cleanliness was impeccable. Personally, I feel that while this hotel aims to be family-friendly, some details were lacking. For instance, the pool isn't very big, and there was a small pool I thought would be a hot tub, but its temperature was even lower than the main pool. Even with it being 30 degrees this weekend, the water felt a bit cold. Also, there were no armbands or swim rings available for rent on-site, so definitely remember to bring your own! The kids' play area was more underwhelming than I expected. The second floor has a large ball pit, and there's an outdoor slide that we didn't get to use. The breakfast buffet was decent, with made-to-order omelets and such. However, I couldn't understand why the donuts weren't displayed. My child wanted one and only got a single donut after asking! The hotel is located by Jinji Lake, right next to 'the big pants' building and Suzhou Center. Dining options are just a short walk away. It should also be not too far from the old city, but we didn't have time to visit this trip."

"First off, the location is great. Its just outside of 山塘街 shantangjie, so I could easily return to the accom in the middle of the day when I wanted (to sleep, use the toilet or umbrella). There are some really good eateries nearby and receiving food delivery is easy. Secondly, the service was excellent! They sent me a detailed video showing how to get to the hotel, and also checked how I was coming. From the moment I arrived at suzhou railway, they started waiting for me at the street so I wouldnt miss their accom. They also gave me very useful tips for where to go given the time of day, and helped me with the route to go to places. They also received my taobao parcels. And everyday they gave a fruit platter with local fruits Lastly, the room was very cosy. The view was beautiful but still private. They provided a tea set and good tea. The toilet was very modern and had a warm toilet seat. The bed was also comfy. The price-performance ratio is very good. I will choose to stay here again when I come to Suzhou, and also recommend my friends and family to stay here"

"The interior decor shows its age, and there's only one elevator. However, the room features smart controls, good hygiene, and comfortable bedding. The location is excellent – the subway and bus stops are both within 200 meters. A taxi to Humble Administrator's Garden is only about 16 yuan. The beef noodle and bun shops directly opposite the hotel are both delicious. I'd especially like to commend the young man and woman at the front desk on the 27th during the day; their service was warm, sincere, and very thorough. They proactively upgraded our room because we had a child with us, which I really appreciate. I'm very satisfied."

Hotel near Suzhou South Bus Station Area,Suzhou
The Garden Hotel Suzhou (Nanyuan Binguan) was once the private garden of Mr. Jiang Jie Shi. Starting from 1952, the Suzhou Garden Hotel was appointed the residence for state guests by the Suzhou Government, serving hundreds of national leaders. The hotel underwent an RMB 2.6 billion renovation in 2005. This Suzhou hotel is within a stone's throw from world cultural heritage sites like the Master-of-Nets Garden and the Canglang Pavilion. The hotel is the largest Chinese garden style hotel in the city center, from which guests may conveniently access the Suzhou train station and bus station.Chinese cuisine and Western cuisine are available on-site, along with room service and a coffee shop. The hotel also has a bar where guests can socialize over a drink. This Suzhou hotel hosts a large ballroom, two reception rooms and three function rooms. It is an ideal place for weddings, meetings, exhibitions and other functions. Guests can relax buy getting a massage, using the steamy sauna, working out by using the fitness facilities or playing a game of tennis.

"Despite its 'State Guesthouse' reputation, this 5-star hotel, costing over 800 yuan a night, utterly failed to impress me. Here are my grievances: 1. During my three-day, two-night stay, there were no welcome fruits upon arrival, nor any parting gift upon departure. Before I left, no one even bothered to ask if I enjoyed my stay; they just took back the room card. The upgrade from an 'Yingjie King Room' to a first-floor garden room was something I had to request myself (which later proved to be a mistake). I arrived at 4 PM on a weekday and asked about the garden room upgrade. The front desk said the room wasn't ready. I said, 'No problem, I'll just leave my bags here and pick up the room card after dinner.' How can a 5-star hotel not have a clean room ready at 4 PM on a weekday? 2. When I finally entered the garden room that evening, there was a noticeable odor, so I immediately opened the door to air it out. Then I discovered small flying insects. I strongly advise caution for anyone considering a first-floor room. 3. Housekeeping doesn't seem to vacuum or sweep. One morning, while doing my makeup, I accidentally dropped the cap of my eyebrow pencil. I was in a hurry to leave, assuming the cleaner would pick it up, so I didn't worry about it. When I returned in the afternoon, the trash had been emptied, but my pencil cap wasn't on the counter. I had to bend down to look for it, and it was right under the sink, next to the wastebasket (see picture). The cap isn't short; was the cleaner just completely oblivious? 4. The hotel seems to be undergoing renovations. I noticed at least three areas where the ground was quite dirty. What annoyed me most was the lack of separation for pedestrians and vehicles. Cars were parked on both sides of the road, forcing me to constantly watch out for moving vehicles while walking."

GGuest UserThe hotel is located in the old location of Suzhou so the surrounding areas are all full of cultural experiences. The location is ideal for visiting several gardens such as The Couple's Retreat Garden, Lion Grove Garden, and Humble Administrator's Garden (all within walking distance). However, it is a bit difficult to reach by car, as you would have to cross a small bridge and go over slightly rough roads (not ideal for multiple luggage, especially large ones). The hotel breakfast is soup noodles, with 8 different options, and it comes with a dessert (mung bean cake, a local specialty). It does get a bit tiring and repetitive once you eat it for a long time though. But, there are plenty of other alternative options up and down the street the hotel is located in. Various food stalls, restaurants, and even bakeries are all located within walking distance. The hotel also provides a ticketed experience to a local activity known as 评弹, a type of operatic singing famous for its soothing sound and tendency to invoke sleepiness. The hotel rooms are neat and kept clean with no odor. Throughout the hotel, a pleasing scent was smelled and it seems that one could buy the same scent from one of the various stalls open on the street. The bathroom amenities include: hair dryer, bath robes, toothbrushes, a vanity set, razor, and a comb (along with another item that slipped my mind). The toilet is automated and has a heated seat. Unfortunately, the showers are a bit difficult to use (low water pressure and difficulty in setting temperature). There are three settings for the shower: overhead, handheld, and spout. The rooms that we ordered (two single beds) included a sitting room furnished with a rocking chair and a mini fridge (drinks inside have to be paid for). The water bottles placed outside the fridge and the snacks on the table are complimentary and free of charge. The hotel also has a laundry machine that both washes and dries the clothes. Sadly, it doesn't properly dry clothes if more than 1.5 sets of clothing are placed inside. Drying racks and clothing hangers are provided for such scenarios. Laundry baskets were also provided. The hotel does not have elevators, given the antiquity of the neighborhood, so heavy luggage and suitcases have to be carried by hand up the stairs. The hotel staff were friendly and extremely helpful with anything we needed. We had a total of 8 suitcases (5 checked and 3 carry-ons) and the staff (overnight as we checked in at around 12 AM) voluntarily led us to the room and helped carry our bags up. When we ran into a problem with the laundry machine, the staff helped clear up the misunderstanding. Attached are photos of the lobby (picture of the table with the tea sets), the hotel room that was booked (the other room looked the same, just mirrored placement), the sitting room, and complimentary food that was provided.

WWangxiaohuatongxueI will always recommend this place without hesitation. Suzhou is truly beautiful; every photo turns out perfectly. Since I was traveling with my parents, the front desk helped arrange a more suitable room, which greatly eased my anxiety. Fearing we might have trouble, the staff even personally brought the room cards to our room. Everyone was so handsome and responsible, and spoke so gently. They even brought me hot water and didn't forget to give me an extra bottle of mineral water so I could dilute it and avoid getting scalded. Oh my goodness, their warm hospitality made me feel so embarrassed! They truly embodied the feeling of 'home away from home'! There's a separate lounge area on the first floor, which is convenient for dining or meeting guests, and there's even a small play area for children. I'll definitely choose this place again when I bring my kids next time. Highly, highly recommend! Wishing them prosperous business!

FFairy DeeThe hotel is lovely. Especially the service from the staff. Most of them speak English and are always willing to help. If anything goes wrong they make sure to correct it and leave you satisfied. Rooms are quiet and spacious. The breakfast is good , has bit of variety of western and Chinese food. The highlight for me was the food truck by the patio. It sells affordable and delicious hotdogs and very yummy ice-cream. there is a small water show in the evening as well . It’s also near a mall so many food options. A little far from the subway or train station but I’ll still give it a 10/10!

Service: The staff are exceptionally friendly and attentive, genuinely caring for every guest and resolving issues remarkably quickly. Ambiance: The Japanese-inspired decor creates a fantastic atmosphere. The rooms are spotlessly clean, wonderfully comfortable, and tidy. Staying here was a truly delightful experience. GGuest UserI came to Suzhou for Zhou Shen's concert. Due to the terrible hygiene of my originally booked hotel, I made a last-minute change and booked this one. I checked in late at night, and the guy who helped me check in upgraded both of my rooms to executive suites. A huge thank you to him; it truly saved our awful Saturday. The room's hygiene was excellent. When I woke up on Sunday, I discovered there was also a fantastic balcony with a view of 'the big pants' (CCTV Headquarters). Next time I'm in Suzhou, I'll definitely stay here again. It's also super convenient for visiting the Olympic Sports Center and other attractions.

SStanley The Travel ManI arrived in pouring rain. I thought I could walk to my hotel but it was impossible in the downpour. I didn’t want to bother any hotel owner.   I didn’t and still don’t  have an eSIM that can make local  call but thanks to Trip.com, there is a link that I could call the owner for free.  I didn’t advise the owners my arrival time so they were off running errands.  I called the owner to pick me up and thankfully he answered. He was busy but gracious enough to turn around and picked me up. It knew Zhouhuang requires a ticket but I didn’t know that no cars, nor motorcycles, nor bicycles are allowed. Without him I would have arrived the hotel easily.  I always like to meet the owners instead of employees . They were very helpful and answered all my questions. They are honest people who dedicate their  blood and sweat to their business. The owner even offered to walk me to the bus stop  to Suzhou which was my next destination.  This  operates two hotels with 9 in one and 6 in the other. The one that I stayed in with 9 rooms is in a  lively and busy area . Just outside the hotel is a restaurant and there are plenty of places to eat. Inside the hotel is a peaceful oasis where you won’t hear any noise. The location is the best. The other hotel is in a quieter neighborhood a few minutes away. Each of the 15 rooms has it’s own personality, is different and has its distinctive decoration. The owners said they decorated them themselves. I love the decoration and especially the lighting.  After you reserve a room, be sure to contact the owner for the exact address in case you want to arrive on your own. I think it is best to request the owner to take you there because he/she will lead you to the ticket booth to buy tickets. There are a number of bridges so heavy big luggages can be a bit of a challenge .  If you arrive after 5 pm, you can enter free of charge as no one is there to check your ticket. . But once you are inside, and if you choose to leave the area after 8 or 9 am until 5 pm, you have to pay to come back in. You can buy a one day or in my case 3 days pass.  Do check with the owner for up to date information.  The room was quite clean. There were hot water all the time. There were other guests during my stay but they were not noisy at all. I barely heard them. I slept very well during my 3 nights there.  Zhouhuang is really beautiful. There are many canals, bridges, boat rides, good food of all kinds. I had some of the best meals there. In fact , I ate in the same restaurant that serves dumpling twice. One night I had grill (BBQ) meat just outside the entrance for 4 yuans. .  There is decent size supermarket just outside the turnstile and not too far away is a much bigger supermarket. It was there where I bought half a Peking duck for only 32 yuans . The seller sliced the meat and separated the meat from  the bones. The bones he fried so it was crunchy.  It was delicious. There is a theater that offers performances. The night view is great. If you step out your room, you will be overwhelmed in a good sense by the exciting surroundings.  This hotel definitely is one of the best that I have ever stayed in. Look at the beautiful pictures and find one that you like.  I stayed only 3 nights and one of those days I went to Tongli. In my opinion, one should spend at least 2 to 3 full days in  Zhouhuang (and especially this hotel ) savor the ambience. I don’t think Tongli is worth the time because it was twice as expensive and there are not that many canals and boat rides. It is much quieter and has fewer things to see. . The worst is that the sightseeing places require you to show your ticket. After 2 places, I lost mine ticket and I  couldn’t get in the rest of the places. It is unnecessary to require proof of entrance because you can’t enter the area without a ticket.
