Hotels in Suzhou

"We spontaneously decided to take our child to Suzhou for a two-day trip. I looked at several hotels, but none of them really stood out. Then, I stumbled upon this one and immediately thought it looked fantastic, full of Suzhou character. I was a bit worried after booking, but as soon as we arrived, I was so impressed with how beautiful it was – charmingly old-fashioned, with every corner a scenic spot. The front desk and room service staff were all incredibly warm and friendly. My child had a blast feeding the fish. Pan Gate felt like our own backyard, super convenient for a stroll. Plus, Canglang Pavilion and Ke Garden are nearby. The hotel's breakfast buffet offered a great selection and tasted good too. Both adults and kids had a super enjoyable stay. The only downside was that the indoor children's play area was a bit small and dated."

"Cleanliness: There was a spill at the lobby, guests walked over them causing the floors to be dirty, took the hotel staff forever to clean it up. The lobby in general was clean except the spill. The room is not the cleanest in a certain area. There's a spiderweb and mould seen in the room. The bed and toilet were clean, these are the more important stuff. The corridor to the rooms are super smelly with cigarette smell. People who don't smoke will have to suffer and endure the smell every time heading back into or out of the room. Location: location is pretty great, center to most places, DiDi or cycled conveniently. Service: Service was pretty good, allowed late checkout, got a free complimentary gift (the bowl) upon check out. The only thing that earned them a 4 star out of 5 for the service is during the check in. I was the first group of guests to check in, but just because I had 5 guests in total, subsequent guests who came after us to check in, they put us aside and left us hanging while they attended them instead because they are 2 guests. I had to go back to the counter and stare at the manager then she continued our check in. Amenities: Very simple, just a hotel room with toilet. The lobby was cool, plenty of seats for guests to chill with complimentary snacks and drinks. For the room, there's no place to hang a hand towel, bath towel, or our own clothes for showering. Had to put on the basin or toilet bowl. This is a major downside for us. Not a complaint (for improvement): Usually accommodations that provide room cleaning services, the room servicers tend to refold the bedsheets and blankets, and any clothes that were on the bed will be either placed back on the bed unfolded, or those that go beyond the service, to fold the clothes and place it on the bed. For us, it was seen chucked on one side. Again, not a complaint, just a recommendation to just place whatever clothes that were seen on the bed before room service back onto the bed after room service, doesn't have to be folded."

"I booked it, because it was pretty cheap, in the center and was a private room. i don't regret booking it for 2a short time - bed was clean, cleanliness of the rest of the room was quite questionable, with dust in the corners and an empty drink pack laying under the bed. you gotta know if you're fine with it or not. i did not spend much time there besides sleeping, so it was alright in total. free soap, shampoo and a bit more. nice guy at the hotel working there."

"It's a loft-style room with two beds upstairs and a living room and a king-size bedroom downstairs. The industrial decor and cool-toned lighting made the room feel a bit unwelcoming at first, but I got used to it after a few days. It seems like there are long-term tenants, and there's an older security guard on the first floor who would bring things up late at night. There's a laundry room with a dryer, a sunroom for drying clothes, and even a stone washboard. We had some issues with the facilities, but they were resolved the same day after we reported them, which was good. Overall, I'd still recommend it for its value for money. The location is excellent; you can easily bike to scenic spots. It's right on Guanqian Street, so food, shopping, and everything else is covered."

"The front desk area at Vienna International Hotel was an absolute delight, truly exceeding my expectations! Stepping into the lobby, I was immediately drawn in by the rich, elegant European ambiance. Crystal chandeliers paired with warm lighting, pristine marble floors, and exquisite floral arrangements created a luxurious atmosphere. The front desk layout was well-designed, spacious and not at all crowded. The sofas in the waiting area were soft and comfortable, thoughtfully equipped with charging ports and complimentary tea, making the check-in process incredibly pleasant. The counter was spotless, the staff were impeccably dressed, and their service was both warm and professional. Check-in was efficient and quick, and they patiently answered all my questions. The overall environment was quiet and orderly, without any noise. Every detail showed great care, from the subtle fragrance to the background music, all contributing to a very comfortable experience. Such an elegant and thoughtful front desk environment instantly elevated my entire stay. Five stars, highly recommended!"

"We were so lucky to book a room on the second floor of this B&B. The entrance isn't very prominent, and we actually walked past it and had to turn back to find it. It's about 300 meters from Beisita Metro Station and roughly 800-900 meters from the Humble Administrator's Garden. The young man at the front desk was very polite. Since we arrived too early and our room wasn't ready, we dropped off our luggage. He helped us check in, added me on WeChat, and sent me a Suzhou travel guide. We went sightseeing first, and he notified us when the room was cleaned and even helped move our luggage into the room. Our room was quite spacious, with a large bathtub by the window, and the bathroom had a completely separate wet and dry area. The room decor had a touch of artistic flair. There's also a large reading and lounge area on the third floor. On the weekend, we were fortunate enough to meet the owners, a couple, who enthusiastically shared recommendations for Suzhou's food, attractions, and culture with my husband and me. Because I was feeling unwell with a cold from the trip, the owner kindly extended our check-out time until we needed to leave for our flight. They even waited with us for our Didi ride and helped us load our luggage into the car. I truly felt the warmth of Suzhou, thank you! I would definitely stay here again on my next visit to Suzhou."

"I booked two different room types online for a two-day stay, and I was genuinely surprised upon checking in. They offered handmade snacks, and in the lobby, there was fresh-baked bread and various drinks daily, so breakfast was sorted without even needing to go out. The front desk lady was very enthusiastic and even upgraded my room for free, so I didn't have to switch rooms back and forth, which was very thoughtful. Highly recommend! [strong]"

"Located on the second floor with no elevator, I had to lug my bags up myself. Perhaps this is typical of older Suzhou architecture – the place was quite a maze, and the stairs were incredibly narrow. The overall environment was just 'okay,' which is what you'd expect at this price point. The pillowcases weren't very clean, and the bathroom shower was quite bizarre, spraying straight up towards the ceiling like a fountain. The Wi-Fi wasn't working, and I had to rely on a neighboring room's signal. Overall, I wasn't very satisfied."

"I really have to give a special shout-out to the front desk staff! When we first arrived, our driver couldn't find the entrance, but the front desk quickly located us and helped us check in 🥹. I was traveling with my parents and our luggage was seriously overweight (two large bags, each over 20kg, plus two smaller ones). The front desk guy just effortlessly carried them all for me 🤣🤣 He really worked so hard! And the owner was incredibly warm and welcoming too! As soon as we arrived, he treated us to some Suzhou snacks, instantly making us feel the full warmth of Suzhou hospitality 🥺❤️! Also, the service was super prompt; any issues we had were dealt with immediately. They even thoughtfully sent us a guide with local tips and tourist recommendations. We were really satisfied with our stay this time around. Thank you to all the staff members; you truly worked hard, and thanks to you, we felt the rich human touch of Chinese hospitality! Just a small personal quibble (and this is just my opinion, not a hotel issue), I wish the shower water pressure could be a bit stronger – but it was still quite comfortable!"

"This hotel isn't bad at all! Even though the photos didn't quite capture how beautiful the room actually was, I was really impressed. The layout was very practical, and the furnishings were exquisite. I booked the most basic room, but it exceeded my expectations. The size was just right, not small at all, and the bathroom was spacious too. The front desk staff was very welcoming and even helped me arrange a taxi to the train station. My only regret is that I only stayed one night. I'll definitely be back next time, and I'll recommend it to my friends! 😆"
