Traveling solo in Kunming, my stay at Old Big Foot International Youth Hostel completely exceeded my expectations – it's truly an ideal haven for backpackers! The location is absolutely unbeatable. Just a few steps out the door is Zhuanxin market, where I could get everything from tofu rice noodles and Dai-style snacks to fresh fruit in one go. It's also not far from the subway station, making it super easy to get to all the major attractions around the city. The hostel itself has a courtyard bursting with bougainvillea, and you'll find traveler messages and map check-in walls everywhere. The downstairs bar is perfect for sunbathing during the day, and for listening to music and chatting at night, sometimes with guests playing guitar – it's such a gentle and therapeutic atmosphere. The accommodation details are incredibly thoughtful. Every bed has a full blackout curtain, creating a private little space when drawn. The bedding was clean and odorless, there was 24-hour hot water, and the cleaning staff tidied regularly, so the bathrooms were completely free of any smells. They provide lockable lockers and self-service washer and dryer machines, so no worries about valuables or laundry. The front desk staff were incredibly patient, offering detailed recommendations for local tours and free luggage storage. Their 24-hour presence made me, as a solo female traveler, feel completely safe. It's really easy to meet like-minded travel companions here. There are plenty of activities like billiards, movie nights, and city walks, so you never have to worry about feeling lonely. The prices are affordable, the facilities are comprehensive, and the atmosphere is warm. It's perfect whether you're staying for a short visit or just passing through. I wholeheartedly recommend it to solo travelers who enjoy a lively, authentic vibe!

After a long search for hotels in Kunming, I decided on Cloud Inn, and I'm so glad I did! First off, the location is fantastic. Turn right out of the hotel and walk about 200m to the 'Paper Building' in Kunming's old town. Turn left, follow the glass walkway, and you'll reach Cuihu Park. Now, about the room – it was very spacious and spotlessly clean. There wasn't even a single water stain on the sink faucet. We were even lucky enough to get a free upgrade to their largest family room, which had a 2-meter bed and a 1.5-meter bed. My child absolutely loved the 8th-floor terrace, which was filled with succulents and had a glass platform – perfect for photos on a sunny day. We stayed for three nights, and the room was cleaned daily with all amenities and drinking water replenished. The young ladies at the front desk were incredibly helpful; they always greeted us with a smile. The lobby on the first floor offers complimentary coffee, tea, fruit tea, and even ice cream. My child happily got ice cream every day! All in all, I highly recommend staying here. Plus, there are two great rice noodle shops at the intersection downstairs – one open in the mornings and the other until evening.

The room is quite spacious and comfortable. I was satisfied with the cleanliness. They offer a washing machine and dryer, though the dryer isn't very powerful, so it takes a while. Breakfast isn't included, but if you buy it at the front desk, it's cheaper than online. The breakfast itself is decent with a good variety, though the milk tasted a bit watered down. The hotel's location is excellent; it's right outside a Line 3 subway station, and Cuihu Lake is only about a 30-minute walk away. There's a Walmart next to the hotel and plenty of snack bars in the area.

The hotel was exceptionally clean with a great ambiance. The separate wet and dry areas in the bathroom were a thoughtful touch, and the TV screen mirroring feature was very convenient. Plus, there's a night market right downstairs, making it super easy to grab a bite. At night, with the windows closed, it was perfectly quiet and peaceful. Both the front desk staff and the housekeeping team were incredibly friendly and helpful. I'll definitely stay here again on my next trip to Kunming! My only regret is that my trip was so rushed I forgot to take photos inside the hotel, so here's a picture of some breakfast I bought from a street vendor instead.

Hidden away in Kunming's old town, this hotel is located in the historic Flying Tiger Building. It's a perfect blend of rich history and vintage industrial style, with every corner being incredibly photogenic! My bathtub room was super therapeutic – after a long day of exploring, a soak in the copper tub was pure bliss. It's conveniently located near Cuihu Lake, Culture Alley, and Wenlin Street. Plus, it's just an 800-meter walk to Metro Line 3, making it incredibly comfortable for a city walk in Kunming. Most importantly, it's pet-friendly! Bringing your furry friends is totally fine, with just a 50 RMB deposit that's fully refundable upon check-out if there's no damage.

A budgeted Digital Nomad Solo Traveler Pros: Cleanliness: cleans and removed the trash everyday in the room. Location: strategic location near the subway exit c and the bus station. walkable to Cihua Park but other locations is far that must use the transportation system. Service: owners or the management are very welcoming and warm even though I am a non speaker of mandarin (a few rough words that I only blurted out and a nod and smile in greetings was the only thing interaction was involved). The auntie did also gave me fruit on my first day or stay. Thank you! Amenities: They replenish or replace all basic necessities such as shampoo, towel, water, etc everyday. CONS: Since the location is alongside the road for a light sleeper you may be able to hear cars alongside the road. Also, I just realized that the wall is not soundproof as I could hear people talking in the hallway in my last day. The rest of the days was peaceful sleep.I guess exhaustion and tiredness from wandering around the city was helpful in order not to notice as such thing. WIFI - having a hard time getting a stable connection. Unreliable wifi connection. Hence, for my whole stay used HOTSPOT from my phone in order to work. PILLOW CASE - there was a rip through it and might be the cause of overlaundrying it. OVERALL, I had a secured, peaceful and great rest from this hotel.

This place is great, I really don't understand the complaints. The location combined with the price offers incredible value. The rooms are spacious, and the hospitality is exceptional. It's right next to a metro station. The rooms have everything you need for a comfortable stay. If you want to cook, there are many small shops nearby where you can buy pans and heating elements. And the owner does all this at such a great price. We need to remember how much work and dedication it takes to run a place. If you've never done it, we should be more appreciative and less critical. You can always go to more expensive places if you're looking for different amenities. Thank you for this wonderful place. It was a fantastic stay.

Upon arrival, we were pleasantly surprised to find our room upgraded to a family room since we had a child with us. It was lovely, and both my child and I adored it! The laundry service was exceptional; they washed, folded, and returned our clothes to the room promptly. When my child accidentally spilled water, an attendant immediately came to clean it up. Breakfast was also incredibly delicious. This hotel is truly thoughtful! The evening front desk staff and Delu (presumably a staff member or service) introduced us to their late-night congee service, which was both comforting and heartwarming. The air conditioning was powerful, the elevators were fast, the scent was pleasant, laundry and drying facilities were convenient, the TV was high-definition, and parking was super easy. We had a comfortable and worry-free stay!

The location is super convenient, right above a commercial area with plenty of options for food, drinks, and entertainment. It's also really close to Huang Gongdong Street, Kunming Old Town, and Cuihu Park. Public transport, including buses and the subway, is right nearby. The breakfast selection is great, with spicy, sweet, and savory options to suit all tastes.
