Traveling solo in Kunming, my stay at Old Big Foot International Youth Hostel completely exceeded my expectations – it's truly an ideal haven for backpackers! The location is absolutely unbeatable. Just a few steps out the door is Zhuanxin market, where I could get everything from tofu rice noodles and Dai-style snacks to fresh fruit in one go. It's also not far from the subway station, making it super easy to get to all the major attractions around the city. The hostel itself has a courtyard bursting with bougainvillea, and you'll find traveler messages and map check-in walls everywhere. The downstairs bar is perfect for sunbathing during the day, and for listening to music and chatting at night, sometimes with guests playing guitar – it's such a gentle and therapeutic atmosphere. The accommodation details are incredibly thoughtful. Every bed has a full blackout curtain, creating a private little space when drawn. The bedding was clean and odorless, there was 24-hour hot water, and the cleaning staff tidied regularly, so the bathrooms were completely free of any smells. They provide lockable lockers and self-service washer and dryer machines, so no worries about valuables or laundry. The front desk staff were incredibly patient, offering detailed recommendations for local tours and free luggage storage. Their 24-hour presence made me, as a solo female traveler, feel completely safe. It's really easy to meet like-minded travel companions here. There are plenty of activities like billiards, movie nights, and city walks, so you never have to worry about feeling lonely. The prices are affordable, the facilities are comprehensive, and the atmosphere is warm. It's perfect whether you're staying for a short visit or just passing through. I wholeheartedly recommend it to solo travelers who enjoy a lively, authentic vibe!

The first offer by the receptionists were unforgettable - they upgraded our rooms from twin room to family room. Then they served drinks to us upon our arrival. They even kept all item ordered online in very organised manners. They attended us very patiently especially in retrieving our items ordered online. The rooms were super spacious, clean and bright. The rooms were also supported by AI butler named Xiao Du to manage almost all amenities in the room. It’s really impressive! The location is superb - the Kunming Old Street is just down the road. The hotel is surrounded by many eateries and souvenir shops. It’s so convenient but less noise disturbed! The design of the entrance is also welcoming - there are a kitten and birds. The experience was simply pleasant and unexpectedly satisfying compared to other hotels that I stayed in my Tibet trip!

The hotel's location is absolutely fantastic, less than a five-minute walk from the subway station, making travel incredibly convenient! The surrounding area is quiet and comfortable, and the overall ambiance is perfect. The front desk service was incredibly attentive; they responded to and resolved all our needs immediately, and their attitude was super friendly. They even thoughtfully upgraded us to a spacious and comfortable family room for free, which really enhanced our experience. The value for money is exceptional, and we'll definitely choose this hotel again for our next trip!

The hotel was exceptionally clean with a great ambiance. The separate wet and dry areas in the bathroom were a thoughtful touch, and the TV screen mirroring feature was very convenient. Plus, there's a night market right downstairs, making it super easy to grab a bite. At night, with the windows closed, it was perfectly quiet and peaceful. Both the front desk staff and the housekeeping team were incredibly friendly and helpful. I'll definitely stay here again on my next trip to Kunming! My only regret is that my trip was so rushed I forgot to take photos inside the hotel, so here's a picture of some breakfast I bought from a street vendor instead.

The service was excellent. After check-in, they proactively contacted us to confirm our meal times, which was very convenient for the hotel to prepare our food in advance. The environment was quiet and comfortable, set away from the main road. The king-size bed in our room was very comfortable. There's also a wine cellar next to the hotel lobby where you can enjoy a drink or two. All in all, the price was very reasonable.

A budgeted Digital Nomad Solo Traveler Pros: Cleanliness: cleans and removed the trash everyday in the room. Location: strategic location near the subway exit c and the bus station. walkable to Cihua Park but other locations is far that must use the transportation system. Service: owners or the management are very welcoming and warm even though I am a non speaker of mandarin (a few rough words that I only blurted out and a nod and smile in greetings was the only thing interaction was involved). The auntie did also gave me fruit on my first day or stay. Thank you! Amenities: They replenish or replace all basic necessities such as shampoo, towel, water, etc everyday. CONS: Since the location is alongside the road for a light sleeper you may be able to hear cars alongside the road. Also, I just realized that the wall is not soundproof as I could hear people talking in the hallway in my last day. The rest of the days was peaceful sleep.I guess exhaustion and tiredness from wandering around the city was helpful in order not to notice as such thing. WIFI - having a hard time getting a stable connection. Unreliable wifi connection. Hence, for my whole stay used HOTSPOT from my phone in order to work. PILLOW CASE - there was a rip through it and might be the cause of overlaundrying it. OVERALL, I had a secured, peaceful and great rest from this hotel.

The rooms are spacious and clean, and the service is warm and attentive. I'll definitely stay here again! The soundproofing is excellent, so I had a great night's sleep and woke up feeling refreshed. The hotel's location right on the corner is very convenient. The service is fantastic, and the hygiene is spotless; the room felt very reassuring to stay in.

Upon arrival, we were pleasantly surprised to find our room upgraded to a family room since we had a child with us. It was lovely, and both my child and I adored it! The laundry service was exceptional; they washed, folded, and returned our clothes to the room promptly. When my child accidentally spilled water, an attendant immediately came to clean it up. Breakfast was also incredibly delicious. This hotel is truly thoughtful! The evening front desk staff and Delu (presumably a staff member or service) introduced us to their late-night congee service, which was both comforting and heartwarming. The air conditioning was powerful, the elevators were fast, the scent was pleasant, laundry and drying facilities were convenient, the TV was high-definition, and parking was super easy. We had a comfortable and worry-free stay!

The hotel is very close to the subway station, and there's a Jia Hua Bakery downstairs. There's also a food court nearby, and it's not far from attractions like Cuihu Old Street. The hotel's decor seems a bit dated, but the rooms are spacious. The bathroom drain had a slight odor. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful.
