The Staff are so friendly and helpful. They were able to store our baggage until the room was ready. Thier outdoor cafe overlooks Lake Lucerne and they offer English menus. the staff are first rate. Then you get your room,,, Amazing. Very spacious and the view from your patio is non-stop beauty. The location is easy access to the train station, many restaurants. there are a lot of excursions on the lake available. Did I mention the view from your balcony?

I booked a three night stay here for myself and son aged 2.5. I found the journey from Zurich airport easy. I took the train to HB then changed to a train to Brunnen. I did switch at Zug. Then the 504 bus to the hotel was 10 minutes from Brunnen station. Overall it took just under 2 hours. There was some confusion at check in. I booked via ********** and assumed I was in the hotel. I was not aware there were apartments, and these are treated differently from hotel guests. After discussing this with management, we agreed I could pay an additional fee to be treated as a hotel guest. This was much better as it included full board food for my son, breakfast for both of us, towels/robes and lots more extras. Had I just been in the apartment, I would have had to check out at 10am whereas hotel/hostel is 11am. Also check in for apartments is at 4pm whereas hotel/hostel in 3pm. Breakfast is charged at CHF 27 per person/per day and children’s meals are CHF 9 per meal. Also, the gym is charged at CHF 15 per person/per day. As you can see it can get very expensive. I found the apartment to be very spacious and comfortable. It was frustrating having to navigate finding the apartment in the dark as the signs were not clear and it was difficult to navigate some steps with the buggy. The restaurant was great for the children’s meals/ Plenty to choose from. The restaurants did get busy but I never booked and was always able to get a table. At lunch I did not want to eat so little one only ate, I felt like the waitresses did not like this and kept asking if I wanted to order something. The kids facilities are the best. The play area is great with lots of fun toys. Sadly parents let their children run unsupervised but that’s not the hotels fault. Ethan also went to TOM’s Happy Club one morning whilst I went to the gym. The pool was also great. Plenty to keep the children entertained. We also enjoyed the cinema room. There isn’t much local to the hotel unless you have a car but we were only there for a few days so it was ok for us. Overall I would recommend this hotel for families. So much to keep children happy. One owner manages the entire hotel and the restaurant on the first floor, lol. Very interesting boss, the hotel room is not bad, mainly the view and balcony are very surprising, the room equipment is also not bad, the hotel breakfast is pretty good, it's too cost-effective. A few minutes walk from the hotel, there is a pizza shop that tastes great!

I visited the hotel over my birthday. The reception was nice, prematurely with regard to the requested change of room, carefully in the restaurant. I was very happy about the attention in the room for my birthday, as well as the decorated table. ☺️ Breakfast buffet as well as the half-pension menu were very good and sufficient. The HP menu even allows you to exchange one or another walk. Great! The view of the room and the park on the lake and the mountains are breathtaking. The hotel is a little reserved by Emmetten. The hotel offers a flexible shuttle that brings guests to the hotel or village. Free. Great service. Hall bath and steam bath are very clean. In the hall bath it is quite noisy, which must probably be so. That's a little bad. A sauna would be nice. In my Quality Time Package was a massage with it. It was OK. However, next time I would prefer a woman for treatment. The whole staff was always friendly and helpful. I wasn't the last time in the sea view of Higher Hotel.

Slightly odd checkin procedure, where we got a key somehow without really registering but our room was prepaid so we didn’t think much of it. The room wasn’t ready after all, so the receptionist spent some minutes shouting at the cleaner and left us to wait in the bar. When we got to the room it was unexpectedly large and roomy with a balcony and separate window so we could air it a bit (no air condition). Decoration a bit dated etc, no fridge but clean and fairly quiet and dark at night despite being next to the road. The bathroom had soap dispensers full of very watered down detergent but the water pressure in the shower was good and reliable, as was the Wi-Fi. We slept well! We had dinner in the restaurant and that was fine, and agreed to put it on the bill and pay in the morning. As we enjoyed our dinner, a huge party of new guests arrived and were accommodated in the restaurant but in a difficult part and the hotel manager, who was also waiting on tables, somehow managed to handle all of this at once and no problems with service to our table as you might expect. In the morning, the same thing; lots of breakfast guests but they were prepared by having an extra table of breakfast in a difficult room (albeit without the cold stuff like yogurt) and placing thermoses of coffee on the tables for arriving guests. So we didn’t get a welcome or anything but helped ourselves. Breakfast was a bit limited and the coffee was the worst we had on this trip, but still plenty of choice. Checking out was rather difficult as the person on reception couldn’t find any record of us checking in, and had problems with the computer system, but it was eventually sorted out, we paid our bill and off we went. There is not a lot of choice if you want to stay in Emmetten so this could be your best bet.

Beautiful, clean, fresh smell of wood in the room. The shower was excellent. The entire facility is beautiful and clean with great service on top of a mountain in Switzerland. The funicular that brings you up to the lodge is so cool with the best views. There is a parking lot at the bottom of the mountain at the funicalar entrance for 14 francs/day. The lodge is right next to the funicular. The breakfast buffet is really good quality extra charge. Beautiful hiking trails. Everything is perfect at this lodge. Highly recommend.
