LLomarThe location is absolutely fantastic! It's just a 10-minute walk to Yu Garden and Chenghuang Temple, and very convenient to get to the Bund. Exploring and dining couldn't be easier. The front desk staff were incredibly warm and even offered helpful travel tips, which was a huge plus. The room was clean and tidy, the bedding was comfortable, and the separate wet and dry bathroom was a pleasure to use. The breakfast selection was rich, and the freshly wrapped xiaolongbao were incredibly authentic. To find such great value for money in this area truly exceeded my expectations. I'll definitely be staying here again on my next trip to Shanghai!

GGuest UserThe hotel environment is quiet and elegant, and the aroma in the hallway smells luxurious. The room has good lighting and a wide view; opening the curtains every day just brightens my mood. The cleaning staff were very meticulous. The location is superb, making it convenient for shopping and dining. The room was clean and tidy, and the bedding was so comfortable I didn't want to get out of bed. The front desk lady was super gentle. I'll definitely choose this place again next time! Enjoy Disney shuttle service: The Disney shuttle service is very convenient.

KKuaiculaiwanyaI accidentally booked the wrong check-in date for my business trip to Shanghai, and was initially quite anxious. To my surprise, the front desk staff was incredibly efficient and quickly helped me resolve the issue smoothly. Their friendly and enthusiastic demeanor throughout made me feel completely at ease. Despite the hotel being over a decade old, the overall environment was surprisingly clean. The room was tidy with no strange odors, and the facilities were very well-maintained. You wouldn't guess it's an older establishment that's been operating for many years; it felt comfortable and reassuring to stay here. The breakfast offered a rich variety of delicious options. During meals, I could directly overlook the Shanghai Tower and the Shanghai World Financial Center, which provided an amazing view. The transportation is also super convenient, with a subway station right across the street, saving a lot of time and effort for business travel. Overall, my stay exceeded expectations. The service was thoughtful, the environment was clean, and the location was excellent. It's perfectly suited for business trips, and I'll definitely choose this hotel again next time I'm in Shanghai. Highly recommended!

SShanghai based coupleAs a couple who has lived in Shanghai together for almost 10 years, with one of us also Shanghainese, we have been to a lot of the best places in Shanghai, and some of the more recommended places in about 20 cities in the broader nearby area. Nothing in the city or within several hours of high-speed rail compares to a stay at Ritz-Carlton Pudong. In Asia and indeed the planet, this impeccable hotel experience stands as an iconic example of old-world elegance and service. In addition, it also offers a unique view of both some of the most modern and tallest buildings and the city’s famed Bund riverside, home to a variety of art deco architectural masterpieces. We had the incredible good fortune to start our honeymoon at the Ritz in Pudong, and this last stay was our last honeymoon treat. As always, it was a spectacular experience that we cannot recommend enough. The most extraordinary part of the stay really is the staff, they are all world class people who go above and beyond to make the Ritz-Carlton Pudong such an exceptional institution in one of the world’s leading cities. Sincere thanks to the whole team for making this happen, including Cherryl, who made reservation delightfully effortless, Chris who helped us to our room, and Joey and Ruby who helped in the evening. Special and heartfelt thanks to the whole team who make the Club Lounge experience world beating: Eddie and Junita, who both lead by example, have a deep passion for the details that create excellence, as well as being just the nicest people. They are both incredibly inspiring leaders and professionals. Claire is generally excellent there but also was phenomenally helpful to get a bag back when it was left behind, we really apricated that. Jeramy and Vivian also are amazing, as are Club Lounge’s chef’s Joe and Austin. Sherry is a real star, attentive, sharp and so helpful. Last but not least, Helen, who was the first person to greet us after we got married, and fittingly the last person to help us create personalised room key cards with our wedding photo on it, and most recently a special photo of family from our honeymoon. Those keycards are really cool keepsakes, but making them is not as simple as you might think: the image is etched into the key, not printed, so the original photo needs to be translated by AI into an image that the etching system is capable of delivering, which is really impressive. When I showed my mom who lives very far away, even she was impressed with Helen’s work. Ordinarily we prioritise new experiences over more of the same, regardless of how comfortable and nice it is. But regardless of how hard we try, we have not been able to figure out a better way to celebrate our biggest moments than a stay at the Ritz in Pudong.

BBeibeierThe hotel's location is great, just a few steps away from the Bund and Nanjing Road. There are also many restaurants nearby, making it super convenient for dining and shopping. The cleaning staff (aunties) were very friendly too. My only minor suggestion would be for the room to have one more stool. There's also a piano in the hotel for guests to use in their free time. It's a bit of a shame though, as it seems too many people have used it, and some haven't been very careful, leading to some keys being broken and not playing any sound. It's a pity, and I hope the hotel can maintain it regularly; after all, it shouldn't just be there as a decoration. When I left, they even gave me a box of face cream or a bottle of warm water. Even though it was just a bottle of warm water, it was a very thoughtful gesture, especially since it was windy and the temperature in Shanghai had dropped that day! Overall, I highly recommend staying here!

GGuest UserLanded at Pudong Airport late at night and came to this hotel. The service was excellent. They provided solutions for all the issues I raised, and overall, I had a very comfortable stay. I'll definitely choose this place again next time. The staff, both the young woman and young man, were very attentive. Highly recommend this hotel! AAnonymous UserPros: 1. Upon arrival on check-in day, a doorman helped open the car door and took our luggage, escorting us to the front desk. Our bags were then delivered directly to the room by staff. 2. The hotel staff's service attitude was excellent, and the front desk handled everything professionally. 3. We booked a river-view king room and paid extra to upgrade to a Bund panoramic view king room (not sure if that's the exact name). I have to say, the view was absolutely stunning – exactly what everyone hopes for! You could see the Oriental Pearl Tower, the 'Three-piece Suit' (referring to the three tallest skyscrapers), the Huangpu River, and the entire Bund, all unobstructed. 4. The hotel boasts an excellent location, right next to Binjiang Park, perfect for a leisurely stroll anytime. The surrounding area has complete commercial amenities, offering plenty of options for dining, entertainment, and shopping. The hotel itself is a quiet oasis in a bustling area, perfectly aligning with Banyan Tree's resort positioning. 5. The room facilities were premium, and amenities were comprehensive: a circular bathtub, a double-basin vanity in the bathroom, a smart toilet, and a shower with three types of nozzles and excellent water pressure. 6. The room received complimentary bottled water and a small beverage daily. You can definitely cut down on ordering outside drinks when staying here; the in-room supply is enough. 7. The first round of soft drinks in the mini-bar was complimentary upon check-in. 8. Any issues we reported via phone were handled swiftly by the hotel. 9. The best perk during our stay was the breakfast, served from 7 AM until *12 PM*! Being able to sleep in and essentially save on lunch was fantastic. 10. The hotel's cleaning staff was prompt and even asked for our preferred cleaning time, which was very thoughtful. 11. On check-out day, I wasn't quite ready to leave and wanted to extend our check-out time. The front desk was busy with another guest's call and I couldn't reach them immediately. Afterwards, Ms. Minnie, the hotel's room division staff, promptly called me back and arranged for a late check-out until 1 PM. Her professionalism and quick response were commendable. Cons: 1. For a luxury hotel with this location and view, don't expect free room upgrades. Upgrades come with an extra charge, and having such an expectation can lead to a slight disappointment. 2. The hotel's check-in time is strictly 3 PM. If you arrive early, you'll either have to wait or go out to explore. 3. The room wasn't soundproof. I noticed a gap under the room door, and a noticeable space between the door and its frame. No wonder you could hear every little sound from the hallway, and conversely, anything happening in the room was audible from the corridor. This compromises privacy a bit, making it less suitable for couples or those (like me) who enjoy listening to music with speakers in the room, as it might disturb others. 4. Food delivery is a common issue and a typical drawback of older luxury hotels: deliveries aren't allowed directly to the room; guests have to go down to pick them up themselves. There are no smart robots for delivery. 5. Other snacks in the mini-bar are not complimentary. Given the price point of the rooms, the hotel could be a bit more generous. 6. The breakfast selection was quite limited, comparable to a buffet breakfast you'd find in a hotel costing around 100 RMB. For example, a few years ago, I stayed at the Grand Hyatt by the river in Changsha, Hunan, where the breakfast offered Chinese, Western, Japanese, and Korean options, plus seafood and sashimi – I could spend over an hour enjoying breakfast there. For the price point of the Banyan Tree on the Bund, this level of breakfast is genuinely a bit disappointing and should be upgraded.

GGuest UserWe were very pleased with the room! We booked a river-view twin room for a trip with my mom. The beds were 1.5 meters wide, so they weren't cramped, and the room itself was spacious enough for two people to move around comfortably. The view from the window was perfect, and the windows were spotless. The facilities were excellent, the view was perfect, and I was especially impressed by the smart toilet – I'm definitely considering getting one now! The hotel is grand and very impressive, with a strong sense of history and culture. The service quality was also excellent. I'm not sure why there are so many negative reviews online. Every staff member we encountered was smiling, proactively helped with our luggage, and showed us to our room. The cleaning was meticulous and thoughtful. The hotel uses Aesop toiletries, which have a unique and pleasant scent and feel great to use. We all thought it was a wonderful stay; in short, it was perfect!

GGuest UserI am very happy with my stay at this hotel. The hotel is very modern and clean. The girls at the counter are helpful and polite. The cleaning ladies are always friendly. Free bottles of water are given every day. My room is compact but has all that I need. It is a smart room that has voice control. The toilet lid opens by itself. Overall a very comfortable stay.
