"Everything was perfect. The owner pick me up at the station and take me back for free. It's a traditional hotel. My room had a tatami bed. I enjoyed very much the experience and they gave me a bottle of local vinegar as a gift. The restaurant they recommend is one of the best rated in the city. The room was very clean and as depicted in the web."

"We arrived in the evening and it was raining a lot therefore we appreciated so much their free pick up from the train station to the hotel! The structure is simply beautiful and the owners are really kind. They gifted us of a local vinegar bottle, the rooms are simple but clean and the breakfast as well is nice. The position is strategic in the city centre of the old Pingyao. They allowed us to store our luggages on the day of the departure. We definitely recommend to stay here :)"

"Rather unique hotel. Clean and tidy. Location wise, subjective, as the hotel is situated inside the Ancient City, and cars are not allowed. So prepare to walk some distance to get to the hotel. Fine for me since my main purpose there was to visit the ancient city anyway. Friendly and helpful staffs, especially the boss. Helped book transport to Railway Station for my next destination and even walked me out since it was drizzling at that moment."

"We had a good experience staying here. They were patient with our lack of ability to speak Chinese and we’re prepared to communicate through translation apps. The room was well accommodated and clean. Bottled water was provided and a traditional Chinese breakfast was available each morning. If you need your coffee in the morning to get started, you will need to bring your own or is it one of the coffee stands throughout town. The hotel is on one of the Backstreets next to a park and requires about a five minute walk to get to the main shopping streets, but as result is also quiet. thanks for a great day."

"Great location, quiet neighborhood but not far from the center. The room is clean , comfortable and has the atmosphere of an old traditional home. It is the service that needs significant improvement to warrant the current four star rating.  The price was for two people and yet, there was one tea bag per person, a very small roll of toilet paper and the facial tissue bixes were almost empty. The breakfast was no better: ine boiled egg, a small bun, a bowl of sweet porridge and a tiny slice (about one tenth) of a sweet potato and a root vegetable, with a tiny portion of pickled cabbage. For a mainland B&B well below standard. What’s more, the old nan who was on duty in the morning would pick up dirt from the floor while handling food with bare hands and had trouble finding toilet paper in the storage room while I waited outside in freezing weather. The host is friendly and helped with orientation and organizing transfers to the railway station, so with little improvement in service this could be a good choice for Pingyao."

"We traveled as a family of five to Pingyao and stayed three nights at the Jinxuan hotel. The stay was an absolute delight, the hosts are extremely friendly and helpful with everything. They picked us up from the train station which made it very easy to find a place. Jinxuan it’s located in the very heart of Pingyao and everything is easy to reach on foot. The facilities are simple and clean, the rooms are located in a very quiet patio of one of the traditional houses in in Pingyao. We stayed in a duplex room that offered lots of space for a family. The breakfast is traditional Chinese and the hosts spoiled us on the last day with some homegrown corn and tomatoes. If you’re looking for an authentic experience, we can absolutely recommend this place. "

"We stayed at the Elsewhere North Gate hotel for 1 night during our visit to China from Liverpool, England. Easy to find and walk to from the North Gate entrance of Pingyao. We were able to check in early, and our hosts were very helpful in making us feel welcome and provided advice and recommendations on where to eat and go during our stay. We did the castle walls, my tip is to take some water. The room was modern and clean with plenty of space. Nice hot shower and plenty of free accessories too, which was helpful eg toothbrush and paste, snacks and coffee. The location is about 2 minutes from the main street in Pingyao too. Thanks for our stay."

"Our stay at was exceptional! From the warm welcome at check-in to the immaculate room, everything was perfect. The staff was attentive and always ready to help. The location was ideal, just a short walk from hotel. They even gave us vinegar for free it was unexpected and surprising.We couldn’t have asked for a better experience—highly recommend and will definitely return in future!!"

"This hotel is in a prime location on Main Street, right next to the famous Cheng Huang Miao temple. It offers both convenience and a sense of seclusion. Despite my room being near the main entrance, I experienced no noise or disturbances. The hotel arranged a seamless transfer from East Gate, where vehicles are permitted, to the temple, followed by a short 50-meter walk to the hotel. This service, included in the hotel package, made the arrival process effortless. Communication via WeChat and assistance from my tour guide ensured a smooth transfer both in and out. They also provided luggage assistance, which was one of the reasons I chose this hotel. The owner… or at least, I assume he is was incredibly friendly, informative, and helpful. He provided useful tour information and even gifted a bottle of vinegar upon departure. Only one exception that language might be a barrier if you totally can’t speak Chinese - but fret not there’s always translator tools. The room was very comfortable and appeared newly renovated, with excellent pillows and a cozy comforter. Both the room and bathroom were clean. Amenities included disposable towels, essential toiletries, and a powerful hairdryer. We didn’t have any food here as our room didn’t come with it but that’s fine, there are plenty of options in Pingyao which you should go out to try. As a frequent guest of Marriott chains (which means I have certain level of expectations), I had to explore local options since there isn’t one in Pingyao. This hotel met my expectations, and I highly recommend it to both local and international travellers. For the reasonable price and excellent location, I have no complaints, except that I wish I had stayed two nights instead of one!"
