Best Hotels in Ripoll, Spain

We dropped into this hotel as it was the terminal for our little train tour. Although in June and loads of people there (mostly schoolkids - teeming with them - I think the hotel doubles as a hostel?), the cafe wasn't open, the restaurant only catered for ”proper” lunches and we were directed to the bar. There were about 8 of us in there from our group, plus a young Spanish couple. The barman served the Spanish couple ahead of some of our group, which didn't really please anyone. It took an age to place our simple orders (sandwiches and a burger) and then all of us sat there without any food for about three quarters of an hour. Despite asking what was happening, we were kept being told ”it's coming soon”, but it didn't. Eventually, we got not very good sandwiches and my husband's burger was red in the middle. We did complain to the barman, who referred us all to reception. The reception man tried to help and offered us a drink in compensation, but our return train was due to leave anyway, so didn't even get that. It all seems half-cocked to me and, if the eating and drinking facilities are anything to go by, I would steer well clear of the hotel.

We had relatively low expectations for the Hotel Grevol based on the website and third party site pictures. In reality both the public space and rooms of this hotel are beautiful, unique and comfortable. Grevol is an easy place to relax in a gorgeous setting of the foothills of the Pyrenees. Most of the rooms have balconies and our Junior Suite had plenty of space with a large bed, not the two small beds pushed together that many hotels in Spain have. Definitely opt for the rate that includes breakfast, as it has many options both hot and cold and an impressive array of pastries and drinks. Dinner is a bit pricey but has great options on the menu and wine list. The spa downstairs has a large indoor pool but not enough chairs when it is busy. The sauna really only can accommodate three or four people at most, and hot side of the contrast shower is much too hot (got a small burn on my back from it). My wife opted for a 40-minute massage which she said was excellent. Overall it is hard to go wrong with such a charming hotel with great staff in a place like the Camprodon valley. Book with confidence, this hotel is a winner!

We really enjoyed our stay in Montanyà hotel, the location is perfect, very calm, amazing view on the mountains. The bedroom was nice and cosy, we liked the decoration of the hotel. There is a huge park, with the outside pool and also an inside pool with warm water, so relaxing. The restaurant is great, the food was varied and delicious. All the staff was welcoming, friendly and helpful. We totally recommend Montanyà hotel y lodge.

Arrived here and was immediately impressed with the hotel and surrounding area. Everything inside and out was spotless and the receptionist was very welcoming. The golf club house was about 5 minutes walk away and it was a lovely place to just sit and take in the lovely views whilst enjoying a nice cold beer. The breakfast was varied and plentiful and the pastries were lovely. The only downside if I wanted to be picky is that the dining area was on a lower ground floor and you couldn't see the wonderful views that surrounded the hotel. However I could not fault anything else, it was just perfect. Wish we could have stayed longer.
