The hot springs were interesting because the color of the hot water was different at night and in the morning. It was a good hot water. The room was quiet and calm with no outside sound. The food was very attentive to the serving, and it was pleasant and delicious at night and in the morning. I would like to stop by when I go there again.

Taxi fare to and from the train station 900 yen per trip, not expensive. I used to try to walk from the station to the hotel by visiting Hotaka Shrine and continue walking along the waterway. Open Google map to navigate with you, not lost, and it is a pleasant route. The hotel itself is not new. But clean, available lay out of a strange twin room. But personally, I like it very much, because it has mutual privacy. The windows of every room overlook the Japanese Alps Breakfast is set. Choose Japanese or western style. It's delicious to be laid out and tastes good too. Next to the hotel, there is a take away food shop called hottomotto, delicious and cost-effective. Or walking to the other way, there is a community mall with super market, Muji and Mc Donald. The owner of the accommodation, both female and male, are lovely, hospitable and communicate in English.

I booked 2 rooms for 1 night for 8 people, 1 room was great but 1 other was so small, even with the same price. So you probably would like to request bigger room if you book for 4 people. Other than that, everything was great. It has lounge room and even onsen. The location was the best, very close to the station.

We stayed in a twin room. The room was spacious and comfortable. There was a large desk and comfortable chair, so remote work was also possible. The cups and toothbrushes provided were in different colors, black for my husband and white for me, which was a small thing but a nice touch that showed the hotel staff's consideration. Of course, we were also satisfied with the breakfast and hot springs. This quality at a reasonable price is highly recommended. If we come to Suwa again, we will stay here!

The staff were so nice with great work ethics. The place was clean and tidy. Checking-in and out was so quick and smooth. I love the location of the place, it's just near the Matsumoto Castle and it also has a bento shop next to it where we can easily buy food when we get hungry. I would recommend this hotel to my friends.

Located just within 3min from Yudanaka station, Raki Onsenryokan is run by a Chinese family. As a quiet town on its own, no one was tending to the reception when I arrived, after ringing the bell, a lady came down to help with the check in - very straightforward. I believe the family stays in the same building as they said if we ever needed anything, we could just ring the bell at the reception. Obviously I had booked a room too big for a solo traveller as this was the only room left as ”non-smoking”. Toilet and sink are at two different parts of the room which was a little inconvenient. Ryokan offers free drive (15min) TO snow monkey park, but not return, so please cater at least 35min to walk from park exit to the bus stop. Ryokan also provided a hearty breakfast, overall for the price paid it was a decent stay!

Facilities: The Japanese-style room I booked has a spacious bedroom, but the entrance is very small, which makes it inconvenient to carry a suitcase in and out and change shoes. The bathroom is especially small. I have never seen such a mini bathroom in my life. Although the hotel is old, the equipment is well maintained. Hygiene: It is clean. Service: I stayed for two nights. The hotel does not provide in-room cleaning service. New towels will be hung on the door on the second day. Disposable items can be freely collected in the lobby, which is very convenient. Environment: The hotel is in a good location, about 10 minutes walk from Matsumoto Station, and you can also walk to Matsumoto Castle. There are many restaurants and convenience stores nearby, and the hotel is on the edge of the downtown area. There is a small river in front of the door, which is very nice to be quiet in the bustling city.

I am pleasantly surprised by this hotel. The room was not too small and bathroom and toilet were separate. At reception I was greeted with a welcome drink and in the first floor there are microwaves and washing machines. Around the hotel are many eateries, shops and supermarkets. You can walk there. The breakfast was enough with quite a bit of choice. I think, the parking runs out fast. So arriving earlier is better.

RRgkobashiLet me start with the good parts:  - The location is convenient, with lots of restaurants, cafes, and rental shops nearby. They also work with Hakuba Lion Adventure, so we got some great discounts for rentals.  - The room was very clean and well-equipped, they also have a dry room for snow gears.  - Breakfast was freshly made every morning, with a nice variety and really delicious food.   However, our experience was tainted by communication issues with the owner. Upon arrival, he realized we had come by car and immediately scolded us for not informing him in advance. He claimed to have messaged us about it, but we later discovered he was talking about *********** while we had booked via Trip.com. Since no parking was reserved for us, we had to use a nearby rental space for 1,000 yen per night. We accepted this, understanding that parking is limited during snow season. Until the third night, our car got stuck in the snow, so we went to ask for help. Instead of assisting us, the owner started blaming us again, saying he had already sent us a message telling us not to drive because of the heavy snow. But we were very confused because we double checked all our booking platform messages and emails there was NO such message at all. So before we checked out, we brought this up again and the owner just said, “Well, that’s not my fault, and I don't recommend booking platforms such as Agoda, Trip.com or *******”. This place is quite a disappointment. The location itself is great, and the breakfasts were amazing, but the owner’s attitude completely ruined the experience. To make things even more frustrating, the owners speak Mandarin (as does one of us) and a bit of English, yet the owner insisted on speaking Japanese, fully aware that we didn’t understand it. It almost seemed like he was pretending to be Japanese. If you’re expecting authentic Japanese hospitality, this is not the place. I genuinely liked the place and even considered staying for a week to work remotely, but the owner’s behavior made that impossible. Who wants to be scolded multiple times during a vacation?

AAnonymous UserA supermarket TSURUYA Nagisa is 450 meters away, and a familymart is 600 meters away. I didn't expect the hardware to be good, better than the previous one Matsumoto Hills, and much better than Sagamihara Crown Hills. But, I can say something about the breakfast, the hot milk tea in the beverage machine is so delicious

IInstandyFukashiso could be one of the loveliest accommodation that I have ever stayed at. The staff were very polite, attentive and extremely helpful and courteous. The place itself is so beautiful and quaint. Traditional garments are provided as an option if you want to dress up for dinner. Made for great photo ops! The Kaiseki was the most beautiful equivalent of a degustation I’ve tried, and it was served in a lovely separate intimate dining area. During dinner Nobu-San a fourth generation family member of the owners greeted us which was a lovely touch. Soba was freshly made at the accomodation. We stayed two nights and the Kaiseki menu was different each time. Breakfast was a nice assortment of Japanese and Western options and the coffee machine was actually pretty good. I enjoyed the onsens, there are two public ones that switch locations for men and women and a private one. They were well equipped and relaxing. Our room was on Level 1 with a private bathroom, seating area and little garden view. Overall this place is highly recommended. For a traditional ryokan experience, it was so nice. Even after we checked out, the receptionist gave us a little gift, and even walked us outside to where our car was parked. Such a warm and lovely place. Stay here for sure!

GGuest UserI rarely complain about others when I write reviews for B&Bs, because I think the service industry is not easy, and I try to say good things if I can, but this time I have to complain about this one! We have been to Yudanaka 4 times and stayed in 8 different B&Bs. The first 3 times, the store provided pick-up/drop-off/snow monkey park services, so this time we did not confirm in advance. Unexpectedly, some stores do not provide this service (very few), and Tenkawaso is one of them! After arriving at Yudanaka Station, I called the boss and spent half a day (the boss's English was not good, and communication was more difficult). He drove to pick us up, and everything went smoothly. On the morning of the day we left, it was snowing heavily. We asked the boss to take us to the station, but he flatly refused, saying that they did not provide drop-off service (paying the taxi fare was not an option), and they did not help us call a taxi (it was difficult to get through on the phone, and they spoke Japanese). Later, we met a family of four Australian guests. They asked to be dropped off at the station one day in advance, but they were also refused (they said that the boss actually came to the station to pick us up, which was incredible). Later, they asked a Japanese friend to book a taxi, and they also thought the boss was mean! Finally, we could only carry our suitcases (the ground was covered with snow and we couldn't pull them), walked for 8 minutes to the bus station, waited for 25 minutes in the heavy snow (the bus was 20 minutes late), and rushed into the train at the last minute before the train started. The whole process was exciting and sad! I hope everyone can avoid this, or at least ask about the pick-up/drop-off service in advance. Most homestays don't have this problem, but it will be very troublesome if you encounter it!

MMidlifeMilesWonderful Stay at Garden Pension Obogurgl We had an excellent experience at Garden Pension Obogurgl. The location is perfect—just a short walk to the Hakuba Goryu lifts, which made getting on the mountain super easy every day. The pension itself is cozy, clean, and peaceful, with a lovely garden that adds to the charm. Our room was warm and comfortable, with plenty of space for ski gear, and the communal areas had a relaxed, homely vibe. The hosts were friendly and welcoming, always happy to help with local tips and transport advice. We especially enjoyed being able to walk everywhere—whether it was to the nearby convenience stores, local restaurants, or just strolling among the beautiful pine trees. The large cherry blossom tree out the front added a special touch to the peaceful surroundings. If you're after a quiet, scenic, and welcoming place to stay in Hakuba Goryu, Garden Pension Obogurgl is a fantastic choice.

GGuest UserThe hotel is one kilometer away from the bus terminal, but there are small stops near the hotel to various ski resorts, which is very convenient. I booked a total of 5 nights, including meals. The 5 breakfasts are basically Japanese, very hearty and satisfying! It is a traditional Japanese-style bed and breakfast. The room is on tatami mats and you make your own bed. In some years, the furniture is not new, and you can hear it in the walking room in the corridor, but it is very clean! The quality of the guests is also very good, there is no loud noise, which is much better than the Europeans and Americans who later lived in the hotel! The boss is an old Japanese couple. They don’t talk much and may not always smile like other Japanese people, but in fact they love to help. After dinner every morning, they ask you where you plan to go today, and then pull you there. His map wall helps you plan your itinerary, and the hotel also has a lot of coupons or low-cost ski tickets for ski resort cooperation. Save a lot of expenses. After checking out, you need to change to another hotel. After the boss asks the address, he will send it to the next one, but there are still not many words 😁, thank you for your rigorous and lovely Japanese grandpa Very cost-effective, recommended!

RRaeMeteor Garden is located conveniently 5-7min drive from main Hakuba Village. One thing to note is that the main cafe in the stay is not open so need to find other dining alternatives. Rooms and amenities are clean and well maintained, the one issue is that it’s not well marked on Google map as it keeps pointing to the restaurant which was not opened and gave us a false alarm. Wifi is not the fastest and does not handle multiple devices that well especially when you are trying to work. There was some confusion when booked via Trip as the contact information was somehow truncated so hotel was unable to contact me without going through Trip thus messages were delayed. Overall it was an enjoyable stay and everyone had a great time…
