4-Star Hotels in Hebei, China

An attractive hotel in a former imperial complex (a library or something like that) offering large, clean rooms. It's up on the side of a hill but taxis/rideshare will take you to the front door. Also it's very close to the town center and is a short ride to the temples that are of interest in Chengde. They have a decent breakfast at the onsite restaurant, and a dinner service featuring local dishes that are supposed to be similar to what an emperor might have eaten. So you can dine like an emperor, for a fee. The large deer roaming the grounds stare at your with the big, sad eyes, obviously looking for a handout, but don't fall for it as there's plenty of grass. There was some construction going on, seems the buildings are being refurbished, but it did not really interfere with our stay. Signs in English and English-speaking staff at the front desk.

The hotel's main entrance is directly opposite Hengshui Station, making it arguably the closest and largest hotel in the vicinity. You just walk across the plaza after exiting the station. Its location couldn't be more convenient – a solid 7 out of 5 stars for accessibility! For the price, I honestly expected a very basic stay, but was pleasantly surprised by the excellent service. The facilities, amenities, and room size are definitely comparable to a 4-star hotel. My room had some noise from next door, so I asked a staff member if I could move, and to my delight, they readily accommodated my request. Breakfast was also a highlight. For a hotel of this category, the variety far exceeded my expectations. They offered a wide range of options, from Western choices like toast, jam, and coffee, to Chinese staples like noodles, wontons, and various hot dishes. They even had unique items like fried lychee balls and chicken nuggets. The spread truly rivaled that of a 4-star hotel! All in all, it was a fantastic stay, and I'll definitely be back.

I came here to experience the hotel because it was newly opened. Indeed, all the facilities and equipment are quite new. The room is equipped with a sofa bed, the screen is also movable, there is a small bar and tableware, and there is a quilt in the cabinet. It is very suitable for family travel. At the beginning, I felt that except for the cold attitude of the front desk, I was quite satisfied with everything else. We just arrived at the room. Fruits were delivered right after. As a result, when I took a shower at night, I found that the hot water was very small and I couldn’t take a shower at all. I could only call the front desk. The solution given by the front desk was to change rooms. Because there were a lot of luggage and it was late, I didn’t want to change rooms, so I asked the engineering to repair it. But they still asked to change rooms. Okay, then change rooms. We asked the staff to go to the room to check whether the hot water was normal. As a result, the staff did not check and came directly to our room to let us change. We asked again to check, and the staff went to check. The result was also broken. If we didn’t check it, wouldn’t we go there directly? ? ? ? Very speechless. Later, we changed our room to the 7th floor and checked that the hot water was normal. After we moved our luggage over, we looked at the bedding, and it turned out to be very dirty. There was a little garbage under the pillow. It was outrageous!!! We asked the front desk to come again, and they asked us to change rooms. Let's change, and asked her to check the room first. I really didn't want to bother, but the attitude was not good, and asked us to check it ourselves. I was very tired, so I asked my boyfriend to check it. The quilt was dirty, okay. Dirty. I said, then change the quilt for us. The staff asked us to pick up the quilt ourselves. This was the first time I encountered such a situation, and I was shocked. Okay, okay, I just want to take a shower and go to bed. It's really not as good as the attitude of the Hanting Hotel we stayed in the day before. The cleaning of the second day was OK.

This hotel truly exceeded my expectations with its outstanding service and comfortable accommodations. The rooms were spotless, spacious, and equipped with all the modern amenities I needed for a relaxing stay.

This snow season, I once again chose the Thaiwoo Hotel, located within Thaiwoo Town and right next to the ski resort. My last stay was excellent, and its central location within the town, just a three-minute walk from the ski hall, were all reasons for me to return. They also provided a complimentary upgrade. Upon my morning arrival, since the room wasn't ready yet, they added me on WeChat to avoid delaying my skiing. By 1-2 PM, when the room still wasn't available, they switched me to a room of the same type. Even though I hadn't checked in yet, they were very trustworthy. The room was spacious and well-designed. Not only was there a wet/dry separation, but the shower room also featured a stone bench design. The separate, spacious storage room was also a nice touch. The addition of a sleep pad provided even greater assurance for a comfortable night's sleep – everything was perfectly arranged! They also allowed for a slightly later check-out on Monday. Later, I received a message on WeChat from the staff member I had added earlier, asking if I had arrived home safely. The service was truly touching! Regarding breakfast, I suggest increasing the temperature for better comfort. The variety was mediocre; I recommend adding options like Jianbing (Chinese crepes) to make breakfast more diverse. That would make it perfect!

Hotel is close to the beach and staff are helpful but the carpet feels dirty on my feet and there were some yellow spatter marks on the walls in the bathroom. The AC had a hard time getting below 24 so I definitely woke up sweating a few times but they came and looked at it the second day and it was slightly better down to 22. The view and room were nice I appreciated the sofa/ living area but the couch did have several stains. The hotel bar /cafe didn’t have many food options but drinks were pretty good. Breakfast was good and had many options.

This hotel offers incredible value for money! My friends and I booked a package that included a room, breakfast, hot springs access, and a ski pass. The ski pass was for Fulong and valid until 4:30 PM, which was perfect for returning to relax in the hot springs afterwards. The room itself was comfortable, with plenty of hot water and even a humidifier. Breakfast was also delicious and had everything we needed. The service was excellent. Our window was frozen shut and the room was a bit warm, so I contacted the front desk. The receptionist immediately sent someone to open the window and adjust the underfloor heating. I was very satisfied and would definitely give it a 5-star rating. I'll definitely choose this place again for my next ski trip.

An Unexpectedly Comfortable Stay! My stay at the Hilton Garden Inn was exceptionally satisfying! The hotel boasts an excellent location, with convenient transportation access, making it perfect for both business and leisure travelers. Stepping into the lobby, I was immediately impressed by the warm atmosphere and friendly service. The front desk staff were incredibly welcoming and efficient, quickly handling my check-in. The room was spacious and bright, with plush, comfortable bedding. The 'Garden Sleep System' bed, in particular, ensured I had a wonderful night's sleep. The cleanliness was impeccable, and the attention to detail truly stood out. Breakfast offered a wide variety of options, combining both Western and Chinese dishes. The ingredients were fresh, and everything tasted delicious. The hotel also features a well-equipped fitness center and business center, perfectly meeting all my needs. What truly stood out was the professionalism of the hotel's service team. Their dedication and thoughtfulness were evident in every interaction, from housekeeping to concierge services. It offers outstanding value for money, making it an excellent choice for any trip! I will definitely choose Hilton Garden Inn again for my next visit, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to everyone!

I recently stayed at the Venice Waterworld Hotel in Shijiazhuang and, unfortunately, it did not meet my expectations. The hotel feels quite outdated and in need of renovation. The rooms were dark and old, with furnishings that seemed worn and tired. One of the biggest issues was the air conditioning—it was old and lacked a proper thermostat, making it difficult to regulate the temperature. Additionally, smoking is permitted throughout the hotel, which was a major downside for me as a non-smoker. The smell of tobacco was pervasive in the hallways and common areas, making the stay less comfortable. Breakfast lacked food for its guests. They were not being topped up according to the people who were in the restaurant. While the location may be convenient for some, the overall condition and policies of the hotel make it a poor choice for travelers who prefer clean, modern, and smoke-free accommodations. If I return to Shijiazhuang, I will definitely look for a different hotel. Rating: ★★☆☆☆ (2/5) – Below Average, Needs Improvement
