4-Star Hotels in Wakayama Prefecture, Japan

Location: The hotel is about a 5-minute walk from the bus station Jiangjinliang, but there is an uphill road, which is quite tiring. However, the hotel provides pick-up and drop-off at Shirahama Station, which needs to be booked in advance. Food: Traditional Japanese meals are served in the morning and evening. Those who like raw and cold food will definitely like it. If you don’t like seafood, it is recommended not to include meals. The hotel refrigerator drinks are free to drink, and small snacks, milk and ice cream are also provided 24 hours a day. Service: Very polite and courteous, the waiter will take the initiative to say hello when they meet daily. Hygiene: The room is very new and the hygiene is very good. Hot spring: There is no large bath, all are private baths. You can see the sea, but it is far away. If you come to Shirahama again, I will choose it again.

Overall, it was a very satisfying stay. What was particularly impressive was the welcome drink service and the ice cream provided after the bath. I was very happy with these little touches. Breakfast was served buffet style, and there was a wide variety of items, all of which were delicious and very satisfying. The food was made with local ingredients, and I felt luxurious from the morning. The only thing that bothered me was the dinner options. I had planned to eat dinner outside this time, but unfortunately it was raining and it was difficult to get around, and it was more than a 20-minute walk to Kushimoto Station. I was going to drink alcohol at dinner, so I couldn't drive, and I felt it was a bit inconvenient to have to take a taxi. Also, I thought that if the selection of products at the convenience store was a little better, it would be more comfortable for people who don't want to go out in bad weather, or who don't want to use the hotel restaurant. Nevertheless, the hotel's facilities, service, and staff were all of a high standard, and I had a very pleasant stay. I would definitely stay here again if I have the opportunity.

I had a great stay at this hotel! The price is very reasonable and absolutely worth it. The room was clean, comfortable, and had a lovely view of Wakayama Castle right from the window — such a special touch. It’s also very convenient if you’re renting a car, as there’s a nearby parking lot where you can stamp your ticket at the hotel for just 1,000 yen per 24 hours. Overall, a clean, pleasant place to stay with a great view and solid value for money. I’d love to go back again!

Nice hotel especially the ferry is quite interesting. Spa is good enough for the fee. One thing is the traffic too early finish daily: 19:30 last shutter bus and ferry. And no place to eat luckily has Lawson. Will try again and recommend to friends

This hotel is located next to the JR Wakayama Station, very convenient for tired travelers who want to travel easy. About 15min walk to Wakayama castle, and resturants within 2 mins walk, literally just downstairs! I will stay here again if I travel nearby. 

Candeo is right on Wakayama-Shi Train station, which makes it incredibly convenient. Sound-proofing ensures perfect sleep and no disturbance from trains or traffic etc. The staff accepted early check-in at 2pm and were incredibly courteous, professional, English-speaking and kind. Really excellent. Some large Japanese hotel chains are not entirely geared to the ”international market” and the attitude to non-Japanese guests can be less than ideal. NOT CANDEO. The staff are comfortable with an international clientele, cheerful and welcoming. How wonderful! The entire hotel is extremely clean and well-run. Everything says ”professional”. The flower arrangements on each floor are REAL. Flowers are extremely expensive in Japan. The view from the reception area (Floor 11) is fantastic. The spa (Floor 12) is open air, with a great view and a magical feel. I enjoyed my stay very much and I hope to return to Candeo soon.

Great hotel: very large room with full sea view is pleasant. Hot spring bath is very enjoyable, one of the two bath places has sea view. Set breakfast looks delicate, though quantity might be small for some people.

We stay in 4 people Japanese style ocean view. The room is too old and small, stains on wall and closet door. The bed is thinner than expected. Buffet breakfast has not much choice, swimming pools and many other things have to pay extra. All staff are nice except one guy in the game room area is very rude! Outdoor hot spring have many insects and have to walk stairs . Overall the stay is unpleasant.

Hotel near JR station. Provides free opsicles, ramen, yogurt drink. We love the free massage chairs and onsen.

Although it is a little old fashion, it is very clean. The hotel staff is also very nice, especially there are two Chinese ladies on duty at night, which makes communication very convenient; although the hot spring is a little old, the experience is also very good and it is very comfortable after soaking. The hotel will rotate the male and female baths every day, so be careful not to go to the wrong place; the breakfast is very good, standard and exquisite Japanese breakfast, seafood rice and grilled salmon are of great quality, and I am very satisfied with the food every day; there are also free sand digging tools, flip-flops, and towels at the entrance of the hotel lobby, which is very convenient to go to the beach; the best thing is that there is a self-service coin-operated washing machine, which only costs 500 yen. The clothes that the baby goes to the sea are washed and dried without having to carry dirty clothes for the next trip, which is very convenient! The disadvantage is that there are no bath towels in the hot spring bathhouse, and you need to bring them from the room yourself. I stayed for 2 days and went back to the room every day to get towels, which is very inconvenient. There are also no large bottles of shampoo, shower gel and conditioner in the room. There are only two simple small bags full of Japanese words, which are not enough. It is not very friendly to guests who take a bath in the room.
