"This is a young hotel with a good check-in experience. Luggage can be stored for 4 pounds per piece per day. However, it took a long time to return the deposit. There was also an error in the amount, but fortunately it was resolved by email."

"Excellent location. Step outside and in Leicester Square. The facilities were really good for our 2 night stay. Breakfast was available for additional charge if required. Staff very friendly and helpful. Room fairly small but comfortably adequate with plenty of power sockets, large flat screen TV, kettle with tea, coffee and milk sachets. And check out is self-service, just return the room card to the door key box when you leave, it is very convenient. The room is so spacious, can put 3 open suitcases flat, and enough position to walk around. The bed was big and comfortable. The air conditioner is also good, quiet and cool. London Hotel Guide: Where to Stay in London?

London, affectionately known as "The Big Smoke," is a city where history and modernity collide in the most fascinating ways. Sure, it’s renowned for its iconic landmarks like Big Ben and the Shard, but there’s so much more to this vibrant metropolis than meets the eye.

Wander along the South Bank, where the Thames offers stunning views of both historic and contemporary architecture, from the majestic Tower Bridge to the sleek lines of the Tate Modern. Lose yourself in the quaint charm of neighbourhoods like Notting Hill, with its colourful houses and bustling market. Step into the past at the Tower of London, steeped in history and intrigue, or feel the pulse of the city on Oxford Street, alive with shops and street performers.

Most visitors spend about 3–4 days soaking up the sights of London, but if you have a bit more time, consider venturing to nearby gems like Windsor or the Cotswolds. London is a city of contrasts—old and new, fast and slow. So grab your umbrella and come experience the magic of London for yourself!

London Travel Guide

Getting Around London

Are you ready to explore London now? Let's talk about how to get there and get around. Whether you're flying, taking a train, or arriving by bus, getting to London is straightforward.

If you're flying, London has several major airports:

London Heathrow Airport (LHR): As London's largest airport and one of the busiest in the world, Heathrow is located about 23 kilometres west of the city centre. It handles a vast number of international flights.

London Gatwick Airport (LGW): Situated about 45 kilometres south of central London, Gatwick is the second-largest airport, serving both international and domestic flights.

London Stansted Airport (STN): Located approximately 64 kilometres northeast of London, Stansted primarily serves European and Mediterranean destinations.

London Luton Airport (LTN): About 55 kilometres north of the city centre, Luton handles European and some international flights.

London City Airport (LCY): Positioned in East London near the financial district, this airport mainly caters to business travellers and short-haul flights.

Want to start your journey with ease? Why not book a hotel nearby that offers a shuttle service? It’s a real lifesaver, especially when you’re exhausted after a long journey or a late night flight. With the stress taken out of your arrival, you'll have more time and energy to dive into all the fantastic things London has to offer.

Once you're in the city, getting around is a breeze. The Tube is one of the top ways to travel—it's quick, budget-friendly, and takes you just about anywhere you need to go. Taxis and buses are also easy to find, though you might hit a bit of traffic now and then.

The Tube: London's Underground, or "The Tube," is one of the fastest ways to get around. Fares depend on the zones you travel through, with a single journey in central London (Zone 1) costing around £2.80 if you use an Oyster card or contactless payment. It's a quick and iconic way to navigate the city, but it can get crowded during rush hours.

Buses: London's iconic red buses are a great way to get around the city. A single fare is £1.75, and you can hop on and off as many buses as you like within an hour for the same price. Buses offer a more scenic route compared to the Tube, but they can be slower due to traffic.

Taxis: Black cabs are a classic London experience. The starting fare is about £3.80, and they can be hailed on the street or found at taxi ranks. Alternatively, ride-sharing apps like Uber are widely used and can be more budget-friendly.

Cycling: Santander Cycles, also known as "Boris Bikes," are available for hire across the city. It's a fun and active way to explore, especially in good weather.

River Services: Travelling by boat on the Thames offers a unique perspective of the city. It's a bit more leisurely but provides stunning views of landmarks.

Remember to check the Transport for London (TfL) website or app for real-time updates and to plan your journey efficiently.

Best Places to Stay in London

If you're drawn to the river, the South Bank is packed with cultural attractions like the Tate Modern, and Westminster is home to iconic landmarks such as Big Ben. Each of these areas offers its own unique charm, so choose one that suits your style and dive into your London adventure!

Things to Do in London

London is a city brimming with history, culture, and iconic landmarks. Whether you're a first-time visitor or a seasoned traveller, there's always something new to discover. Here are some must-see attractions to get you started!

The British Museum: Dive into the world of history at the British Museum, home to a staggering collection of artefacts from around the globe. From the Rosetta Stone to the Egyptian mummies, it's a treasure trove of human history. Best of all, entry is free, though donations are welcome.

Tower Bridge: No trip to London is complete without a visit to Tower Bridge. This iconic symbol of London offers stunning views from its high-level walkways. Don't miss the glass floor, where you can watch the Thames flow beneath your feet. It's a perfect spot for those Instagram-worthy snaps.

Buckingham Palace: Experience the grandeur of Buckingham Palace, the official residence of the British monarch. Time your visit to catch the Changing of the Guard, a quintessentially British spectacle of precision and pageantry. While the palace's State Rooms are open to the public during the summer, the surrounding gardens are a year-round delight.

Westminster Abbey: Steeped in history, Westminster Abbey is a must-visit for anyone interested in British heritage. This stunning Gothic church has been the site of many royal ceremonies, including coronations and weddings.

GGuest UserThe hotel is within a short walking distance to: good eateries, shops and the train station to Central London. There are ample parking spaces at ~10pounds/ day for hotel guests. This older hotel has comfortable, spacious rooms but a quirky shower head (aim at the wall as you shower to avoid flooding the bathroom).

PPulstarCheck in was super smooth and very friendly. The room itself was small, but big enough our needs for the week. The staff were nice, but not very aware of surrounding issues. My son got locked in the downstairs toilets and was screaming and screaming and not one member of staff moved an inch until my wife went looking for him, only then did the staff on reception move to see what was wrong, unfortunately that left a nasty taste in my mouth as it showed me a clear lack of care towards not only customers but to children. The rooms were clean and tidy, it did take 5 nights for the bedsheets / duvet covers to be changed, they were made daily but not swapped for fresh ones. Towels were plentiful and swapped daily tough. The daily breakfast was nice with a selection of fresh fruits, cereals and croissants, They also had a selection of hot food such as sausage, bacon, mushrooms, scrambled egg and even vegan sausages if you like them. My only complaint was the scrambled egg were not seasoned at all and required quite a lot of extra seasoning. You could also make fresh toast with a selection of different jams and Nutella. And also get fresh coffee, tea or hot chocolate, although each day one of the 2 machines were broken, it seemed to change each day. They also had fresh orange and apple juice, But the machine seemed to be broken quite alot of the time and they provided it in small dispensers, unfortunately these tasted watered down. Overall the room is nice, decent breakfast, pretty good location and the price not that bad but I expected a bit better.

GGuest UserI am satisfied with the location and the modern environment of the hotel itself (not the unreasonable tiny space of a standard double room - a pot 8sqm double room), but this is the worst hotel experience my family and I have ever had. My mother is an old lady who is almost 70 years old. She fell down at the hotel entrance on the day we checked in. We noticed that the ground at the hotel entrance was designed with a ramp to facilitate access for disabled people who need to use wheelchairs, but there was a small gap and height difference between the entrance and the ramp, which caused my mother to fall very badly. We booked the pot 8sqm double room for 4 nights in this hotel, the space was really incredibly small. The only thing I could thought of was to ask the hotel whether they could upgrade us to a slightly larger room to accommodate an injured elderly person, and the hotel catered our needs. The Front Office and Operations Manager Rax explained that due to the design of the hotel, the small rooms are on the floors above the ground, whilst the large rooms are in the basement of the hotel, so the only room we can move to is located in the basement of the hote, and we could only be able to move on the second day of our stayl. Although this statement is not very reasonable, the situation in the basement is acceptable. The second unpleasant and terrifying experience was that I was taking a shower in the bathroom in the room while my mother was having coffee in the hotel lobby at night, and there was no one else in the room except me. While I was showering, the lights in the bathroom suddenly went out completely, while the water was still running normally. This was definitely the most horrible hotel experience ever. I was so flustered, trying so hard to find the water faucet in the dark and turn it off. Once I opened the glass door of the shower room, the lights came back on. I hurriedly finished my shower and went to the hotel front desk, I saw Rax and reported this issue to him. From his reaction to me when he knew about this, I didn't feel that he had any empathy or sympathy for the terrible thing I had gone through. He explained that the hotel had a new motion sensor that would cause the lights in the room to turn off if there was no movement in the room. He even argued with me that it wasn't a big deal that the light went out during the shower. I suggested that he could explain this new feature of their hotel to guests when they check in, so that if guests encounter a similar situation, at least they will feel less panicked. He told me that even if he knew it in advance, he would not feel better. I was really amazed by the responses as a Front Office and Operations Manager. On the third day of our stay, when I was putting on makeup in the room and getting ready to go out, the alarm suddenly sounded. When we were trying to calm down from the unpleasant experiences we had encountered in just two days, suddenly these things that made us irritable and uneasy happened again, which really drive us crazy. I then met the Front Office Supervisor Asher at the lobby, he tried to understand our experiences patiently, and gave apologies on behalf of the hotel. He offered us free breakfast on the forth day morning which we did not ask for. Asher also talked to me sincerely, and that he would talk to the General Manager of the hotel about our case, and let the GM to have a talk with us too. I think this is the kind of attitude and crisis handling method a hotel employee should have. Finally I want to say that although my family and I have been a member of the Marriott group for many years, we will no longer stay in any of their hotels and any type of accommodation.

GGuest UserLocation is excellent with just a few minutes walk from Gloucester Road station. Yet the hotel is bit old and toilet got some strange smell when we first entered and the toilet door can’t be closed. As I was staying with family, I could bear with it. Nobody answering the calls when I was trying to call operator or housekeeping; always asking to leave message which I don’t like! Yet when I see the housekeeping staff on the corridor, they are very helpful!

TTan24The location is ideal to get to T5 Heathrow Terminal using the POD transport. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is quite big and there seem to be lots of parties happening. The bar is a sports bar and you can enjoy drinks and food. The corridors are very long. The hotel furniture and interior are a bit outdated, but for a short stay it's ok.

AAnonymous UserStrategic location which is very near to the tube station (Bayswater), but this tube station has no lift, not convenient for those with big luggage. The hotel room is quite small, the wall is also very thin, and you can listen to the noise from neighbours. The corridor is also very narrow. Overall, it is a good stay for those who need a budget hotel and with easy access to tube station.

CChris134I'll give this hotel top whack, this time. Check-in is always very professional and the TV was working! My only regret is only booking one night as the breakfast is so good. I was in a bit of a hurry and wish I ate more! I sadly had to complain about some seemingly disrespectul guests in the middle of the night but staff were helpful in sorting it for me. The hotel is comfortable and very well stocked, for the price, and is right near Paddington plus some excellent restaurants (including the Italians on either side just up the road) so very convenient. I hope to book again some time (I thought my last stay was last year but it was in Feb 😂). Thanks!

BBehekEverything was very good. Breakfast offers a lot of coice - except warm breakfast is only on Weekends. On the Trip site the check in time is incorrect (ov voucher it says after 12, but it is after 14) - despite us coming too early, they gave us the room and made coffee for free. The hotel is locked over night and the staff is really friendly. We were in the hotel trought the hottest days in history but they prepared a ventilator - because they don't have AC (normally).
